I have been trying to lose weight for so long sometimes it seems impossible for me. Then i see all these people on here who have lost so much weight and it gives me a little hope. I just wanted to hear from some of the people who are in the process or who have lost weight. Also I need some encouraging words to keep me going

keep reading around the forum and you'll see lots of stories... but for your own motivation you really have to find the reason within yourself - the honest reasons.. why you want to lose weight...

for starters -find the thread Fear of Thin... and read that and do the exercise suggested in it...

Losing weight is easy... being ready to lose it for yourself and your real reasons is the challenge and only you can find those reasons

Hi

I've been trying to lose weight for a while too, so I totally feel you there.

What's your plan so far? Diet, excercising, etc?

When I say diet I dont mean one of the fad things that claim miracles, I'm talking what do you plan on doing on a daily basis?

Good luck!

the reason why i want lose weight is whats keeping me going. It took me a while to figure out but now i am doing it for me.Thanks maleficent!..

And to answer your question Lilly tame.
my workout plan consist of doing turbo jam cardio party 4x a week. i don't have a diet plan because i don't feel that they work for me. so i just try to eat healthier and keep my calories at 1500 a day. what do you do to lose weight?

Yea, thats what I meant by "diet", what you eat daily. We hear the word diet so much these days when people are talking about fads that dont work, we start to think thats the only meaning of diet.

Well, it's great you have a plan, I hope it works for you.

Anyway, I use portion control and I try to eat several meals and snacks a day and right now I'm strictly doing cardio at the gym. Always for the 1st month then the second month I add weights. I follow a regimen that has worked for me before. I've lost 30lbs before but stopped working out and unfortunately fast food can be just so convenient at times.

Here is a good site for figuring out how many daily calories are needed to lose a certain amount of weight per week:

Good Luck! I think you'll find plenty of support around here.

I'm in Michigan also, and for this time of year it's especially hard for me to lose weight, my motivation is the military, and my future depends on it. So really its what motivates you. I have had a friend come with me on some of my work-outs but stopped because he had never changed his diet and didn't lose much weight. Another big tip that is partly the toughest part, is not checking the scale every day. I used to do that in my beginning stage, but now I check it every 2 weeks. Instead of saying oh my, I've lost or gained a pound its, "Holy ****" I've lost 15 lbs.

I got a problem with the scale but from now on i will look at it every two weeks. hopefully ive lost some weight. thanks bridgers!

When I first signed up onto this site, I told myself that this "struggle" I had with weight was going to change. That was Dec 2007. Has anything changed... no, not really. But have I tried, yes.

I guess for some of us, it'll take more than just the want, motivation or need to accomplish our goals. What is that something else? I haven't figured it out.

None the less, I do encourage you to keep on fighting no matter what the scale says. Everyone knows that if a person gives up, they're back to zero. However, if you keep your head up high and more forward, at least your at square one in reach of square success.

Should just keep at your diet & workout routine check your weight every now and then, its like looking at the clock while your working every 5 mins, time seems to crawl. but when you dont look time flys

So how are things coming along?

Well! now I have been working out for about 4 weeks and so far so good. I am starting to have problems with my knee, but other than that I still work out also I peeked at the scale last week and I had lose 5 lbs so I am very happy right now. I still got a week to go before I can weigh officially so I hope I lost more weight.

Thanks. I want to weigh every month but I just had to see if I had lost any weight. I hope I keep them 5lbs off by next week because I am weighing myself then. over the past couple of days I haven't been doing to good with my eating but I have keep the calories down that i know of.

on the 13th I have to weigh myself and measure, I am scared. I have been working out the whole month for 4 days a week. I am not on a diet I just changed my eating habits but I don't know if that was good enough.I don't know what to expect for this month, should I expect anything?

Maybe you should expect nothing and then when you see some awesome improvements you will be so pleased with all your hard work. :D

Ya know, let's just say maybe "it's not enough". Well then, change something else and try it again. It's trial and error to see what's going to work for you.

you right. Thank you!!!1

I had to change my whole lifestyle to loose weight. Totally change the way I ate and exercised. And most importantly I had to stick with it.

About 6 years ago I started the Atkins diet and weight lifting. Lasted about a month and I lost 7 pounds or so. I didn't see miraculous results so I quit. I think...what if I would have stayed on that diet? Even if I only lost a few pounds a month I would have the physique of a greek god right now. Don't quit, work out as much as you can, don't eat bad food then you win.
