Ok I can use all the suggestions for this area! I guess walking can only
do so much but I tried on a bathing suite and even if I wanted to I couldn't!
I have this crazy fat/cottage cheese looking grossness on my innerthighs
and under my buttocks! What types of exersices can I do to fix this.I swear
out of 60 lbs gone not a lb looks like it ledt that area and I really want to wear shorts this summer.
Last year I was stuck in pant's/jeans when it was in the 90's-100's!
Please help............................Tammy:eek:

I'll tell you what helped my thighs...still a work in progress, but I'm so very much happier than when I started.

1. Walking...remember to lead with your heel and not the toes when walking. heel, toe, heel toe. Does that make sense? I'm not good at explaining things sometimes.
2. Squats and lunges...HATE them but I swear they work! Did them with light weights.
3. LOTS of cardio...the fat comes from where it wants to so I just had to keep burning it in hopes that it would FINALLY make its way down to my thighs!
4. Leg lifts...I lay on my side and do as many as I can then I turn over and do the other leg and repeat.
5. If you have a fitness ball...place it between the area between your thighs and knees and squeeze it HARD for 2 seconds and slightly release. Not enough that the ball will roll out but just enough to relax the muscle a bit, for about 2 seconds and repeat. I also did this where I squeezed the ball as hard as I could and held it for as long as I could, trying to increase my time with each one. I'll warn you it hurts but it works. Be sure to stretch really well after these or you'll be walking like you were horseback riding the day afterwards...TRUST me I learned this the hard way!

Thanks ohappy I will try everything you listed
excpet the ball don't have 1.How many lunges
and squats should I start with and how many
should I increas a week by? Lol if I don't have
any certain amount I quit when it hurts lol!
Thanks bunches Tammy:)

Ah man! I wish you had a ball, as I think that really helped me. As for the lunges and squates...go with your tolerance. I started with 4 sets of 25 alternating legs and then "graduated" to doing them with light weights. But that may be too much for you, I'm sure you'll know when to stop. :D The key is to put the pressure/weight on your heel when you do both of them, otherwise your knees will ache terribly!!

UGH! This stupid modem keeps dropping the signal which delays my ability to reply! *$#@ it! ...:p

Heya's Ohappy,
Thank you I did a few tonight and the 1 that killed
me the most were the lay on your side leg lifts lol but I want gr8
results so I'll do just about anything. Thanks Tammy:)

I'm ALWAYS on the hunt for exercises that work the inner thighs. I am obsessed with fitness magazines and ANYTHING they say works the inner thighs I try. , I do this one sometimes. Had to find a picture of it, I couldn't figure out how to explain it. lol I typically do them laying down and alternate sides. When you lay down you push up... I'm sure you get the picture. I do them laying down because they tire me out..and I'm lazy. :D

Cool will try that 1 tomorrow! I swear the 1 you think is going
to be easy to do the 1 laying on your side and lifting leg wow
I really felt that 1 big time and I only did 20 per leg lol I am a
weakling! But I will make myself do all those you listed , cuz
from my knees up are just nowhere near short/bathing suite ready!

I put on a pair of boxers to run around my house in and I couldn't
even bare to look so I changed! THANKS AGAIN TAMMY

You're welcome sweetie! And don't feel like a weakling...they kick my butt big time still...but I push on. Sometimes you've just gotta take a break, those things are a BEAST!

There are no exercises to target fat loss on any part of the body. Exercises that target the inner thighs will help to induce hypertrophy (bigger muscles) in the hip adductors, but not burn the fat off of them (that's called spot reduction and it doesn't exist), nor will it decrease cellulite specifically in that area (that cottage cheese stuff). Sorry to rain science all over your parade. :)

I'm still waiting for the magic cure. I figure if they can make a pill to help out a man's who-who, then they can come with one to help us women with our thighs. :D

Until then.....

a good overall exercise program combined with healthy eating is all we got

On my legs I have only been doing leg lifts, I also have trouble with inner thighs and it has made such a big improvement for the short amount of time I have been doing them!

You may not believe this but I started last week only being able to do 20 on each leg, but now I have worked my way up and yesterday I did 100 on each without stopping! And I did 300 on each leg altogether! It's really helped my thighs and I'm going to aim to do at least 300 on each leg every day!

So I definately recommend the leg lifts. Start with however many you can do and gradually increase. So say you start with 20, do that for a couple of days then try and make it to 40 and so on.

That's not entirely true. The fat in my legs has reduced because of my diet and exercise, just as Tammy is already doing and continue to do. BUT you can loose inches in your thighs which does help with the overall appearance. I know because I've lost 3 inches to date on my thighs and it changed the overall appearance of my legs GREATLY. We all know you can't target weight loss but you can loose inches which will affect how that area looks.

So if Tammy continues her healthy diet, cardio and strength training she WILL see changes in her thighs... I have. My thighs have not gotten bigger as a result of inner thigh exercises, quite the opposite. You would need to use pretty heavy weights or resistance in order for this to happen.

I believe there are certain exersices that help with a certain area
it's the matter of doing them currectly and enough of them.I would
be happy to just have a little flabby going on but what I have is just
discusting looking and I would post a pic so you see what I am dealing
with but I am not that brave lol!
I seriously couldn't wear shorts or bathing suite right now.I would be stuck
in pants or capri's but thank god for winter.I am hoping it doesn't have anything to do with losing 60 lbs so far and like people's tummy how you have gobbs of excess skin?So my fingers are crossed and I am doing all the leg exersices you listed Ohappy;) !Thanks again Tammy

Those and your cardio (and of course continuing to eat well, but I'm not worried about that!)...you still have to burn fat overall but with these it'll help tighten that area while your body is burning fat overall which will eventually get to your thighs. It seemed like forever until my body decided it was going to start burning fat there, but it did happen, so stay encouraged! :)

I was just thinking..you know what else I used? I bought this Aveeno Skin Tightening lotion. It could've been a crock of bull but I was convinced it was working. LOL One of the trainers said that there is research to support that direct stimulation helps aid fat loss (by breaking it up and ready to break down when you exercise...I think is what she said) and that it was probably the stimulation of me rubbing it intensely into my legs that lead to more results than the actual lotion. It was worth the money and effort for me, I was desperate. LMAO :p

You can use regular lotion, just massage it in and do it at least twice a day. Couldn't hurt!

You are right, it generally takes heavier amounts of weight lifting, combined with certain hormone levels to induce significant hypertrophy. What I meant was, moving a particular body part around several hundred times will not burn fat off of that area (otherwise tennis players would look really really strange :p )

When it comes to strength training, you can use specific exercises to work specific muscles, but where your body loses fat from is up to your body (genetics, etc), not the exercises you do.

As recommended by a previous poster, lunges are good. I have used them in several programs for my clients. They are a good, compound exercise that works several of the muscles in the legs.

Heck yeah Ohappy I will try anything, my lil guy uses aveeno
soap and lotion cuz of skin irrataions I will try that to.I am going
to be brave and post 2 leg pics so you acn see what I am dealing
with and see if you still think there is hope.I am also posting a
pic of them in jeans can't notice like that and I guess thats why I
never paid any attention till I put my boxers on! lol Here it goes.
Tammy

First off, LOVE the boxers! :p

And secondly there is definitely hope, I'd say. You had me thinking you had HORRIBLE thighs! I believe there is coming back for your thighs. Just keep doing what you're doing, the fat will eventually come from the thighs ( I know it's painfully slow!) but keep doing a variation of your inner thigh muscles and it will help tighten that skin some and then the cardio and diet will eventually kick in and reduce the actual fat there.

To beautiful thighs! *OHD raises her water bottlle* :D

these are super awesome tips! i love oyur posts.
what exactly is a fitness ball??? i have a small rubber ball that belongs to my daughters, so i'm wondering that would work. it's about the size of...well a little bit smaller than a basketball.
i love squats, but lunges are hard for me. are they really that awkward or maybe am i doing something wrong? also, would you just do squats to exhaustion or how many?
i was super excited to read these tips. it helps to get it from someone it worked for, versus, someone who never had to work for it..does that make sense.
anyway - thanks and good luck everybody!!!!
