Need a New Workout Routine! 14 Years Old!

Quick question? I stopped getting sore from the workout already, is that a sign i should up the intensity or is it ok?

I'm not entirely sure if no more soreness from a workout necesarily means a plateau in growth. But for the sake of keeping it fresh, i reccomend varying the types of pushups, the width and grip of your chin ups, introduce jump squats and anything that can challenge your stabilizers.

That seems average i think. I'm not familiar with body fat % comparisons, but I think thats in the healthy range. Is that your first body fat measure?

By the way, is there any safe way to cut down some of my body fat? I just have a bit of belly fat and some fat around the thighs i wanted to cut down. Thanks in advance for an answer.

Safe way? Just keep exercise as part of your long term lifestyle and the fat should go. You can't hurry these things.

Oh ok, wasn't trying to come across as impatient or anything lol. I just came under the impression that trying to lose the fat was unsafe because of what Goldfish said and because of my age. Anyways thanks again for the fast responses. Ill keep updating this post as i progress. Right now, im actually not getting very sore from the workout.

Well ive stopped getting even remotely sore from the workout but haven't seen a huge increase in strength. Should i increase weight or something, or maybe hit a plateau?

Yes, if you want to keep progressing, keep increasing weight, reps or intensity. Also, have i mentioned isometrics and static exercises on this thread yet? Its a good way to get explosive growth.

Isometrics is the concept of working all the fibres in a target muscle by holding a static position in the contraction for lengths of at least 6 seconds. By doing this, the body's stress response is stimulated and a signal is sent to the brain to provide more growth hormones. I think this approach only works sporadically. It only works a few before it plateaus. If you want to know more look up;
Post isometrics
Pre isometrics
Ballistic isometrics

It can be done either as a stand alone workout or in conjunction with dynamic exercises.

Back again with a question: Is it possible to lose fat and gain or maintain muscle mass at the same time?

I did a bit of reasearch and i'm getting mixed answers. Just wanted to know what you all think.

Mmm... Yeah, that's a tricky one to get a straight answer about. But generally, cardio to lose weight and strength for strength gain. On the one hand, strength training indirectly supports weight loss due to increase in metabolism and making the body a better fat burner. On the other hand, for direct weight loss, cardio is essential.

I'm guessing, you want to know if you can sustain a cardio routine without compromising gains from strength gains. As long as your getting adequate fluids and proteins, it should be sustainable. Unless your into doing over an hour a day of cardio. Maybe that's the exception.

I not too clear on this myself, I hope more people answer this one.

On a side note, if you want a combination of cardio and strength training, try Capoeira. :D

Yeah i see what your saying, not a crazy amount of cardio but just enough to lose the fat. Yeah its a very tricky question i see, some people say that beginner's are more likely to shed the fat off from lifting. Hey hopefully it works, because i did gain around 3 lbs from working out and im thinking most of it was fat. Ill probably try and incorporate more cardio into my workouts. I was also a bit confused on my diet though. I was wondering if i had to eat way less calories to lose weight, but i dont want to do that since im still growing and all. Ahh well hopefully i get some more input on this, but as always thanks for your answers Clinton.

Well ive been doing a bit of research on workout routines and stuff and i see that most people train different muscles on different days like M-Biceps/Chest, W-Triceps/Back, and stuff like that and now im confused about my own workout routine. So im kinda back on square one on what i should do lol. I might be getting a gym membership soon though. I'm also thinking about cutting down bodyfat and losing around 1lb a week, before i actually start bulking up. So now my question is am i supposed to do Full Body Workouts on those 3 days of the week, or do i train different muscles on those 3 days. Ex. M-Biceps/Chest/Abs W- Triceps/Back/Legs F-Legs/Chest/Abs

I honestly dont know what to do right now. All i want is a workout routine that i can follow and get some results, so annnny help on that is greatly appreciated.

You don't want to over think it. Just start with a simple routine based on the areas you want to work and trust me when I say this, as you get into the flow and familiar, you will naturally enhance, progress, tweak or redesign your session/s over time.

Just start with a simple, concise session. Begin with the basics.
