Initial Weight (Date: Sep 24 2016)

Weight - 121kg(266.7lbs)

Used to eat around 2500 - 3000 Calories per day and didn't do any exercise.

Date: Sep 30 2016

Weight - 120kg(264.5lbs)

Lost 1kg(2.2lbs) in 7 Days.
Last week I ate ~1200 Calories and Power Walked 2km - 3km(1.2 - 1.8miles) daily.

Date: Oct 07 2016

Weight - 118.5kg(261.2lbs)

Lost 1.5kg(3.3lbs) in 7 Days.
Last week I ate more (1500 - 1800 Calories) and Power Walked more (4km/~2.5miles daily).

Date: Oct 18 2016

Weight - 116.7kg(257.3lbs)

Lost 1.8kg(3.9lbs) in 11 Days.
To be honest I wasn't fully active for the last 6 days because I was very busy with work (Sitting on a chair front of a PC for 12+ hours per day). I tried to control my weight through diet. So during the last 6 days I only ate around 1500 Calories per day.

Date: Oct 24 2016

Weight - 114.9kg(253.3lbs)

Lost 1.8kg(3.9lbs) in 6 Days.

Same diet plan as last week but this time I lost the same amount in 6 days. I think it's because I ate around 1800 Calories and burned around 200 - 300 Calories through exercise.

Conclusion
Lost 6.1kg(13.4lbs) in 30 Days

I'm a little late, but welcome to the forum, Hype.

I saw that you questioned how many calories you should eat in order to lose weight and, in addition to the advice you have already gotten, I just wanted to throw in my two cents.

Mowens already mentioned it, but eating less than 2,000 calories per day isn't necessarily the healthiest (or easiest) way to lose weight. Why? Well, a few reasons.

1) The entire 2,000 calorie per day diet is a general rule of thumb based on averages so the rule isn't meant to be a strict guideline that must be followed by every single person

2) Continuing with that thought - every single person has a different body, different height, different weight, different shape, different muscle definition, different fat percentage, etc. Along with that, there are a bunch of other factors that come into play when trying to figure out how many calories you SHOULD be eating each day. Some of those factors include your activity level, your current fitness level, your age, your sex, your overall health, etc. Everybody also has a different level of metabolism. So, don't be too set on the whole 2,000 calorie per day idea - use it as a guideline, not a strict rule.

3) Depending on your weight, eating less than 2,000 calories per day might actually be UNhealthy for you. For instance, if you weigh 400 lbs, eating less than 2,000 calories per day might be too big of a shock to your system. If you exercise a lot or partake in a lot of strenuous, physical activity throughout the day, eating too few calories would be unhealthy for you as your body would actually be relying on those calories to use as fuel while you're being active. Professional athletes often eat way more than 2,000 calories per day due to their extremely physical lifestyle. Once again, the 2,000 calorie per day rule shouldn't be followed too strictly.

The link above is to one of many "weight loss calculators" you can find online. It isn't an exact science, but it might give you a better idea as to how many calories you should be eating. All you do is enter a few pieces of information (current weight, goal weight, age, height, weight, etc) and it will give you an ESTIMATE as to about how many calories per day you should be eating. Once again, there are so many factors that play into it, so don't take it TOO seriously. Just use it as a guideline.

Good job so far though and good luck!!!

:iagree: I'm (still) very glad that your body is rewarding you with weightloss for eating more than you thought you could and being a bit more active at the same time. How are you feeling right now? You must have lost about a clothing size (or have gone from very tight to quite loose).

Thanks!
I used the link and found out that I need tho eat at least 1522 Calories per day to reach my target weight in May 22, 2016. I'm currently eating a bit more than that around 1800 to be exact and I've been getting good results so far. I just hope that I can continue without getting sidetracked. Thanks again for your advice.

Thanks! I'm actually feeling petty good and yes my cloths are loose. Every time I see that my cloths are loose I'm feeling smug. But still has a long way to go.

Weight - 113.8kg(250.9lbs)

Lost 1.1kg(2.4lbs) in 10 Days.

Another busy week. I really thought that I must have gain weight because I couldn't stick to the diet plan and I had to eat junk food a couple of times and also I could only exercise for 4 days last week. It is really hard to stick to a diet plan when you are busy specially when you live alone and don't have time to prepare any meals. I did my best to minimize the portion for each meal but couldn't keep track of the Calorie intake. Anyway I felt really happy today upon realising that I've lost 1.1kg.

Conclusion
Lost 7.2kg(15.8lbs) in 40 Days

Very well done Hypercool! It may take a little longer to reach your goal when you´re busy and can´t always stick to your plan, but losing the weight under real-life circumstances basically guarantees that you can keep the weight off in the long run. So congratulations on another 1.1 kg lost!

Thanks! I really hope that I won't be discouraged because it really is hard to concentrate on weight when you are that busy.

I don't know what happened here. I did exactly the same as the week before last week but I've only lost 1.1kg. I really thought that I'll be in the 110kgs this week.
But I'm a bit exited that my weight is 111.1. I've been seeing 1111 more often than a regular person my whole life. May it be time, a number plate, bill, or in many other things and now my weight. I'm not superstitious but I've seen websites dedicated to seeing numbers specially 1111.

Conclusion
Lost 9.9kg(21.8lbs) in 55 Days

:D Yay for 111.1! Losing a kilo a week is actually the normal, healthy way of doing things. Losing too much, too quickly for too many weeks after another you will have more trouble keeping the weight afterwards so maybe it´s a good thing that things are slowing down a bit. You´re still doing awesome.

First of all, you're doing GREAT.

Second of all, the human body can be quite the bitch. You keep a routine and work hard every week - you put in the same effort day in and day out - you lose a good amount of weight for a few weeks in a row - THEN...nothing. There's always that one week here and there where the scale doesn't seem to move. Why? Nobody can really tell, but that's just life.

The truth is, the scale might not move sometimes for a number of reasons - your body could be holding onto to excess water weight, your body just might be tired and storing some of those calories instead of burning them, you could be building muscle which weighs more than fat, for some reason your metabolism might've slowed down a little, etc. There's a ton of reasons why we all have those weeks where our weight doesn't go down (and trust me, we ALL have those weeks), but try not to let it discourage you.

Hell, ask my wife - she'll tell you about how frustrating it can be when the scale doesn't budge. She'll bust her butt for a week or two, eat right and exercise, and lose five or six pounds. Then, she'll do the same exact thing for the next week or two but not lose a single pound. Then, she'll have a cheat day, eat some pizza and have some ice cream aaaaand? She'll lose three pounds the following morning, HAHAHA. It's just life. It's frustrating but it happens...to everyone. So, don't let it discourage you. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Hi Hypercool!

Good to see how much progress you are making! 10 kg in 55 days is amazing! Btw we are the same height (I am also around 1.88 m tall).

Don't worry if your weight loss is slowing down, it is only natural that it will slow down. The best weight loss range for your health is 0.5 - 1 kg, and this is probably where you land (I think it's fine if you are initially above this).

Personally, I care most about shifting to a healthy lifestyle (eating/drinking/exercise habits), and I see weight loss as an inevitable result from this. I try not to care how fast it is going, but I am not losing at all, it is a sign that I have to further improve my lifestyle. The advantage of this approach is that my weight loss will be sustainable. Taking my time and learning to appreciate/enjoy this new lifestyle are really helfpul for that.
The trade-off for this approach is that it will take me a longer time to lose weight, but I am willing to pay that price. I'd rather be patient and lose this weight for the rest of my life, than have a much higher risk of it coming back (perhaps even in a few months, as happens to a lot of people).

Not saying that's you. But it's good to think about this stuff.

Anyways, well done man! Keep on going!
