Lunch: Boiled veggies(brocoli, coliflor, cabbage) OR Green Salad with Cottage CHeese OR OTHER kind of salad + Grilled meat (shrimp, chicken, meat or fish)

Dinner: Nescafe like breakfast, or small fruit(preferably citric) or someting if we go out I eat Cesar Salad.

I try to drink lots of water.. I also avoid coke.. all kinds...

I use my elliptical, am also learning how to run so that I can do so always... I also do abdominals, and workout my waist.. I rest for one day in-between the elliptical and running workout daays.. I workout each for 1 hour

I am planning to join a gym at work, which is for FREE as I am a staff member there.. and also lift weight so accelerate my metabolism..

Please, if you think I should modify anything, go ahead.. I would really appreciate it!!

Good luck to all!!

regards,

Suzan

You really shouldn't cut out all carbs. You should cut out most high GI and sugars, however, but you need those other carbs to fuel your body. Instead, eat 5-6 meals a day, and stick to complex low-GI carbs to a moderate amount, exception of post-workout.

Overall, it doesn't sound like enough calories. I'm also doing low carb, but here is a typical day:

Breakfast:
1 whole Omege-3 egg, 3/4 egg whites, 1/4-1/2 cp cheese (full fat).

Snack: 1 oz beef jerky, two sticks string cheese, 1-2 oz nuts, apple

Lunch: meat (pork ribs, chicket, what have you), cheese, 1 cp brocolli with caesar dressing (brocolli needs something for flavor).

Snack: 1cp cottage cheese w/ 1scp whey and a pkt of splenda and more spinach. The CC mix also makes a nice sweet for the sweettooth.

Dinner: meat, cheese, romaine.

Bed time snack: Tuna, string cheese, spinach (have you guessed I like spinach?)

I eat cups of leafys when I eat them

However, it's different on my lifting days.

Pre-workout: oats boiled in skim milk and fruit.
Workout: 1L water with 1.5 scp surge.
Post workout: whey shake comprised of 30g whey and 60g carbs (25 dextrose, 35 maltodextrin)

This has the effect and not being totally carb free, but rather a carb cycling.

I lost 6 lbs in October.

Couldnt agree more. Noone can get by on toast, a few veggies and coffee. You CANNOT lose weight (and keep it off) by not eating. You say you cut carbs but you're eating toast & veggies, which are carbs. If you're a newb to dieting properly I wouldnt worry about cutting carbs, but instead worry about creating a balanced diet with carb count somewhere between 35-45% of your total calories per day.

As Cynic said you need to eat more. As shafted said you need to 5-6 times per day. Carbs are essential to daily body functions and if you just think that by losing weight, cutting carbs is the answer, than we need to rethink and educate.

Also, because you're trying to lose weight, that doesnt mean you should start eating salads as meals. I suggest you read around the nutrition, healthy recipe, and weight loss sections for tips on proper diet plans.

Sorry if this sounded harsh, it wasnt meant to be.

Well Tony, low-carb is a valid diet protocol, but it requires raising fats to make up for lost calories.

There are three accepted diet protocols: low-fat, low-carb and moderate carb, moderate fat.

The breakdown for each is something on the order of:

Low-fat: 40/40/20
Low-carb: 40/20/40
Mod-carb/mod-fat: 40/30/30

In all cases, protein remains high to maintain LBM. I find the advantage of low-carb is I don't have to count calories. Almost everything has calories, except water, but not everything has carbs. I don't count anything, even carbs, but I also don't worry if my carbs go to 50-75g/day. The overall reduction is beneficial.

However!!! When I go to a bulking cycle, I'll add grain carbs on a daily basis.

Oh, and occasionally I'll have a milk based protein shake, but not daily. As long as over a week's period my carbs remain down, I'm good on the fat loss.

I have also started a carb cycling diet and so far it is working really well. I lost 2lbs of fat in the first week. Very low carbs on non-lifting days and carb up on weight training days. Like Cynic said, I find it easier because there isn't as much counting. I eat a bunch of meat and cheese and stuff on low carb days, with all my carbs I do eat coming from fiborous veggies. and on lifting days I have some brown rice, PWO shake and some oatmeal for breakfast.

Be sure to keep your water intake high!

Atkins said 8 8-oz servings, but I'll say 16 8-oz servings for a whole gallon. You need the water to offset the constipating effect of cheese and to help flush out toxins released from the fat.

I do agree with you. I think a carb cycling diet plan takes someone who has a know how to what they are doing. I think the average "dieter" will have an advantage to eating carbs, and balancing out their meal plan. Then once they have educated themselves, they can move to such a plan.

Too many people are doing the above stated. Cutting all carbs AND avoiding fats because fats are traditionally bad.

Hi all.. thanks for the comments and advices!
tony: Dont worry, hehehe ! thanks for the advises! I believe you are right..

I also forgot to mention that when I eat eggs the yolks is out.. I do suffer from cholesterol.. and it has been a while since I have not checked it!
I will check it soon, and see how should I change my eating habits

As of carbs.. could anyone explain to me how to be moderate in intaking carbs? other than eating 3 tablespoons of rice?

Also, I've been reading a couple of threads.. but in your opinion.. what's the best typeof diet? counting calories? carbs? low sugar? I am messed up!

tony also, do you know any site to look up for carbs information in food? veggies contain that much of carbs? brocoli, coliflor, cabbage ..

thanks all, seriously..
I will read more!

yeah, long term 'super low carb' just isn't realistic. carb cycling perhaps, but that's a different ball of wax. :)

Here are the rules I work by (derived from Berardi's 10 habits):

1. Lean protein with every feeding.
2. Vegetables with every feeding.
3. Get good dietary fats with every feeding.
4. No starchy, grain or high GI carbs outside of the 1-2 hours before and after a workout.
5. Eat every 2-3 hours (this should be #1).

Also, I've been reading a couple of threads.. but in your opinion.. what's the best typeof diet? counting calories? carbs? low sugar? I am messed up!

It's dependent on what your body responds to and what you have the discipline to maintain. Some people can't handle the effects of a low carb diet.

Vegetables are low carb, but they do have some. Carrots and corn are higher in carbs, so you can use them to offset the effects of going very low carb.

I haven't read the other replies but I wanted to point out the humor int he fact that you said I'm not eating carbs, and then the first food you listed was toast.

Well.. how many carbs does the toast have? I can't eat cheese without it..
any suggestions?

There is no reason at all to cut out carbs from your diet, It will only make you cranky, strengtless, stupid(brain dont function properly) etc. Every regular meal should consist of both fat, carbs and protein.

Calorie balance is all that matters. Period.

true tho, when the brain dont get its fuel you will start acting like a retard. Know a person who tried to start his car with the house key and couldnt figure out why it didnt work. keto brain****s you bigtime. (It also makes you smell like catpiss :) )

FWIW, I've decided to add some carbs back into my diet. Not extreme, just a bowl of oats in it's familiar fruit milk, and carrots, but no rice.

The reason is for those cited: lower brain function, headaches, fatigue.

I still intend to keep it as minimal as possible, but I need to add some back in, perhaps something closer to Thib's Carb Cycling Codex.

Here's my two cents...I think some people (like me) just don't tolerate carbs. I was eating moderate carbs that were mostly low GI but every time I'd go even slightly hungry (say it's been just over 3 hours since my last meal) I'd get so angry I could kill if I wasn't fed that moment.

After reading T-nation thread I started Anabolic Diet by Mauro DiPasquale. It's been about 2 months now. I must say that the first few weeks were pretty tough and I was dizzy and lethargic and all the other symptoms of going low carb but since my body adjusted to burning fat as a fuel I feel more full of energy and more improtantly I lost the mood swings. I also lost 2% bf in the process. I eat 6 days low carb and 1 day high carb.

I wouldn't recommend anyone who can get results on the normal diet to do low carb, I think it's best to learn what does and doesn't work for your first.

The low carb diet is not the way to go. To lose weight you want to lower your calorie intake. Subtract 250 calories a day to your normal intake and that should be enough. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grain food, low fat dairy products, and low fat meats and nuts. Fiber is considered carbs and it helps curb your hunger. Just stay away from sugars, alcohol, and high glycemix index foods.
