Mirrors in gyms

I know mirrors are in gyms to check your form to see if you're doing your exercise properly but do you think you work out better seeing your reflection or not seeing it? For example if you were training with a trainer would you prefer to be focusing upon your reflection or what the trainer is saying to you?

i like mirrors in the gym because (this will sound really 'knob-ish') but i like seeing how exercise is affecting my body and how lean i look :p

I love mirrors, i don't think i could train without them. Motivates me so much more when i see my muscle pumping in the mirror! ROARRRR!

I danced classical ballet for years and my master taught me how to use mirrors. They were important and useful to create and check movements. That's the same reason why I like mirrors now in gym and my trainer also like them.

I find it is really helpful to use the mirrors for form. It was a pain trying to make sure that we had the right form without one. We had one of our walls mirrored in our gym so it would be easier for us to exercise.

I like to see what I am suppose to do. I'm a pretty visual learner....

I too like the mirrors to both check form, and actually see the muscles working. I love to see that (on myself or others)! When I am training clients (or being trained), I like to have the mirror for those reasons as well. As I explain, they can see what I am talking about.

I also like to see what other people are doing in the room - so the mirrors are helpful for that as well ;)

If you are working with a trainer, then you don't necessarily need to look at the mirrors to check your form. But if you are working out alone, that is why the mirrors are there. So use them, because proper form is like the most important thing.

I think it depends on the trainer.

I go to a gym where there is a female tool personal trainer. Yes, she's ripped, cut, solid, little to no body fat and therein is the problem. She knows it.

I watched this PT "work" with a heavy lady client one evening and it totally disgusted me.

She spent more time in front of the mirror watching her own a$$ flex than pay attention to her client. :SaiyanSmilie_anim:

I SOOOOO wanted to tell the client to ask for someone else. I really felt bad for her..

My trainer, FF, has a different mindset. We use the mirrors to check form and technique - for both of us. I watch him and he watches me to make sure I'm following his lead and getting the movement right.

Used for the right reason, mirrors are good. Butt (ha!) if all they are going to do is allow your to admire him or herself... he/she needs to go the F home and do that on his/her own dime and not waste your time or money.

ok there... my 2 cents... LOL

Has he shown you the one on his bedroom ceiling yet? ;)

I look in the mirror for form or to try and sneek a sly peek at a hot woman. The only problem is that if you're looking at someone in the mirror it's just as obvious to the person you're looking at as it is to just stare straight at them. I promise you it is. The cardio girls watch me doing OH presses while they queue behind me for their cardio bunny classes on a Monday and the eyes in the mirror are looking straight at my reflection, very, very obvious :D. They're probably thinking that the clean phase is too reliant on my delts but I can pretend they think I'm hot ;)

As for looking at myself and the muscles working, er, I'm not that vain, haha. I'd rather see someone else watching me than looking at myself

Now i know why he calls you Tampon.. LMAO You're just sick in the head..:p

I thought of a reply but it's too sick even for me to post ;)

Anyway, it's Todd's mirror, not mine, what you should be worried about is how I know it's there!!!
:speechless: << That was the look on my face

From finding the mirror or Todd?

A gentleman never tells!

Haha, sorry, I've hijacked a thread with filth, very sorry, back to talking about mirrors in gyms please and less about FF's perversions
