Minimalist StrongLifts 5×5

Your hypothesis is BS and you know it. I doubt even Lyle McDonald, who you like quoting will support your unfounded allegations. If you have any studies let us see them. Otherwise let respected coaches who have brought out respectable methods for noobs, continue teaching them.

and what has doing squats correctly got to do with using your 5rm or your 10rm which was my point, you can quite as easily teach someone the corrct form using a 10rm.

You said the following :-

that is a good routine but i wouldnt advise any newbie,to lift any less than there 10rm for atleast two months,to accustomise themselves to lifting.

muscles get stronger quicker than tendons and ligaments do,using 5rms can damage ligaments/tendons further down the line unless you ease them into it,you could do that routine but use 3x10rm for 8wks then 4x8,4x6,5x5 etc

This either means that the coaches who put noobs on programs like Starting Strength do not know what they are doing or that you are in possession of research which no other respected coach knows about.

Simply put here buzz your advice is BS and simply your opinion. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but BS should be called BS too!

that still doesnt mention anything about doing the exercise correctly, all i said was dont start out doing your 5rm do your 10rm which is a sensible approach i cant see what your problem is with that,if it stops someone getting ligament damage and its only for 2months i cant see why your having a hissy fit.
its a fact that muscle developes faster than tendons ligaments so why rush a newbie,so can you please state why this is BS as you like to keep saying.

That sounds like it is straight from your rear end buzz. It appears you nothing about training newbies and you know zero about Starting Strength. Once in a while it may sound good to talk as if you know it all but on this occasion you are on very thin ground. In fact If I'm correct, Lyle McDonald does not even mention this BS you are touting around. Take this to the BS thread in the lounge and leave people to discuss 5x5 as prescribed by a number of top coaches.

WTF has lyle mcdonald got to do with this you plumb, your the only idiot thats mentioned him.

my original post and point was that a newbie should take it easily for the first couple of months if you cant grasp that concept without going completly of topic every post then you should learn to read things more carefully.
im starting to believe your just a troll :azzangel:

Blackbeard, is you argument about this with the wording 'noob'? I haven't read Starting Strength but I do know Rippetoe is a smart and successful individual in the strength industry. I'm really not sure why you blasted him and called his opinion b.s. because he says a new trainee should start out with 10 reps instead of 5 before progressing into a 5RM.

I definately wouldn't take one of my high school students that's never lifted before and throw him in the rack and test his 5RM on squat and start with a 5x5 program.

Buzz said Newbie. I confer newbie to mean someone just starting out lifting. Meaning they just started this week or last week or has a very short amount of time under the bar. I do know that my studies with the NSCA and the ISSA claim that every new trainee needs to go through anatomical adaptation for the first few months of their training before venturing into lower rep areas. And I will trust the NSCA that has done their research.
