Milestones (Amy's diary)

Thanks, both. A less stressful day today, thank goodness - I might have a chance to get a few too-long-undone things done.
Yay I hope you get them done!!!!

Good to hear you are having a less stressful day. Lovely that you were able to sing with that lady. Music is so healing. Very beautiful that she joined in for some despite all she has going on. Shows just how much your presence did for her :)
Hope you can find some good time today to just relax and be good to yourself.

Enjoyed reading about the time you spent with the older lady. What a wonderful way to lift her soul and care for yours.

Amy your walk sounds great around Adelaide . I always loved the sound of that city I didn't know that's where you lived . It sounds marvellous.
And what a lovely way to spend time visiting and singing with a stroke victim.

Hey Amy, I am just trying to get caught up and you had to be one of my first stops, thanks for all the supportive posts whilst I was traveling. I may not have been able to answer them all, but I did read and appreciate it it.

Looks like many others have beat me to commenting on your singing with the older lady, but I will add my praise. That was a kind thing to do, one that probably made you both feel better.

Dear everyone - I'm a bit abashed at all the nice things you've said about the singing. :grouphug:

I've been away for two days - not from this house but from the site - and my goodness, but there's a lot to catch up on! I've just spent my whole lunchtime, and a bit more! eating sunflower seeds and going through "What's new". :) I've got a lot of things on, still, including work I've done already, but some months ago - I might end up rewriting it anyway.
I've got some traveling coming up next month, when I'll get the chance to walk around Adelaide again - I'm not there yet, Petal! But Cate is right about the Central Market being a great place, and the whole of North Terrace is wonderful for soaking up the gardens and culture of all sorts - love the Museum, love the Art Gallery, love the Botanic Gardens!

Ah, but there's still a lot to do beforehand. And I'd like to be down a bit more before then, too - I'm currently a shade over 173 pounds, which is to say, no real progress since the start of the new Big Drive - I've been up and down 173/4/5/4/3 for weeks. What I'd really like would be to get into the 160s before I left. Three pounds in a week - or ten days, maybe? Possible, but not easy. :(
I'm encouraged today, though, by having picked up some trousers which I had taken in over the weekend, because they were just unwearably too big! That's not a sign of recent weight loss (because there hasn't been any) but still, it's an underlining of the fact that the old weight, the weight lost last year, has gone, gone, gone!

Great news about the trousers.

Don't put undue pressure on yourself to lose 3 pounds in a short space of time. Why not aim for 1 and see how that goes?

Thank you, all! :) I'm really pleased not to be having to buy a new pair, too.

You're probably wise about setting a lower goal, Em. (Note to self: keep targets achievable.)

Meanwhile: Pancake Day! I didn't have pancakes for breakfast, because I do like my standard fruit-and-egg-and-bread breakfast - there's usually fresh herbs and lettuce in there, too. But I will have pancake sometime or other today - it can be my second carb of the day. (I'm restricting myself to two serves of the bread/cracker/rice kind of carb per day, in this new Downward Drive.) Maybe for lunch, rolled around a fruit salad - I have bananas, cantaloupe, mandarins, oranges and apples on hand. Or maybe a savoury pancake, with a tomato-onion-garlic-capsicum mix?

And if it's Pancake Day for me, that means those of us who intend to avoid some food (or drink) during Lent will be beginning that tomorrow - is anyone putting their hand up?

I don’t know Amy. There are lots of things I could ‘give up’ at this point, but I am getting overwhelmed just contemplating it.

One thing I want to do over the Lenten period is donate blood again. I’ve only donated once so I definitely need to go back.
