April 5th

Got a cold so tried to bump my calories up today (I never get colds!)
Had 2 veggie sausages with tomatoes and kale, and an apple for breakfast. (~280 cal)
For lunch had salmon with a small jacket potato (~300 cal)
Dinner I had half a spinach cannelloni with tomatoes. (~300 cal)
Also had one of those low fat caramel square snacks because I absolutely love them (~90cal)
Total: 970

Thought it was more than that... darn I feel really full! Had 3 cups of tea and 2 cups of coffee, all black no sugar.

Exercise-wise I've had about an hours slow walk, 30 mins of jogging, 15 mins with dumbbells and 5 mins strength. I find strength exercises really hard to persevere.

April 6th

Food Diary:

Had salmon on toast for breakfast with tomatoes and cream cheese - 300 cal
For Lunch had an apple and these low fat strawberry pop tart things - 200 cal
For dinner I had the other half of the spinach canneloni with tomatoes - 300 cal
And I've just had some mini weetabix with almond milk - 200cal

So hit my 1000 today!

Exercise Diary:
Did a 20 minute jog and about an hour walking.
10 minutes with my dumbbells
5 minutes other strength/cardio - push ups, sit ups, leg exercises, and planking.

Going to try and eat 1000 every day because I do feel better for it, but am very worried about putting on weight as I don't normally manage to eat that much without feeling bloated or getting pains. Any advice welcome :)

9th April

Wasn't very good over the weekend, ended up going out drinking and for a meal on the Sunday. Defo went way over my calories and didn't do much exercise, so trying to make up for it this week.

Had veggie sausage for breakfast with some kale. Weird combination I know but it's shopping day :p - 200cal
Also had a rice crispy squares thing at work. - 90 cal
For dinner I had these sausage patties with beans and some roasted veggies - 350 cal
And just had an orange - 50 cal
Prob just have some cereal before bed - 250ish cal
Total: 940

Exercise wise I was getting very bored of on the spot jogging, so did some tai chi today. It's slow but nice to have a change.
Trying to do 10,000 steps of moderate walking per day - just something to aim for.
10 mins with my weights.

In other news I've started applying for jobs. I've got an okay job, but would like a higher paid one with more hours. Got my first interview Wed but as my laptop is awful it wouldn't open the word document description so I basically just had to read the details on the website and hope for the best. Sent my CV and they called for me to arrange an interview the very next day, so figured I must be qualified. However I managed to open the document today at work and it says previous experience in that line of work is essential (which I don't have) sooo.... gonna grasp at some straws and hope for the best. Haven't had an interview in years so guess it will be good practice if nothing else comes of it.

What I really want to do is join the local police force. They aren't hiring for officers at the minute but I've applied for a few staff positions, hoping to hear from them although the recruitment process apparently takes forever lol!

Oh, good luck with that Mika & well done for applying. 1000 calories are day is still at least 200 too little, but at least you're trying. Make sure they're nutritious calories & you will be doing your body a favour xoC

10th April

Ended up having 2 breakfasts because I bumped into a mate in town. My first at 8am was only small - veggie sausage with beans. Then around 11am I had porridge with blueberries, overall about 600 cal
For lunch I had vegetable potato fingers and half a veggie burger - 250ish cal
Had some biscuits with a cup of tea - 120 cal
Might have some cereal before bed but we will see
Overall - 970 so far, will probably be about 1100.

Exercise wise I did a ton of walking because I went out looking for the place where my interview is held tomorrow, which turned out to be no where near where I thought it was :p It totaled to about 2 hours, because with my morning walk and that I did an hour and a half, so decided to just do another half hour. Did 26 minutes of jogging, might make it up to 30 later on. And 15 minutes with my dumbbells.

April 11th

Ate loads today because I was really stressed before and after the interview, and a customer bought me chocolate to cheer me up lol.
Had 2 veggie sausages with roast vegetables for breakfast - 300 cal
Then ate a pretty big bar of chocolate - 400 cal
Had an orange in the afternoon - 50 cal
Just had a veggie burger with potato vegetable fingers and beans - 400 cal
Total: 1150

Went for a long walk to calm nerves before interview, it lasted about an hour. Went for another walk after work, so about 2 hours walking in total. Also did a 20 minute jog, 15 mins with weights.

The interview was stressful, I hate them so much, but the lady was nice. Most of the questions were scenario based, and I got too nervous to think so pretty much answered the same for every one of them - remain calm and report the incident. However pleased to know they are hiring more than one person.

What stressed me out so much, is that they put on the application "How much notice do you need to give with your current position." And I ticked "1 month" which was the second shortest, it went up to like 3 months. So as they offered me an interview, I assumed they were okay hiring someone to start in a month. However at the interview she told me I'd be told on Friday and if successful will need to attend an entire weeks training starting the 23rd.

I know some jobs will allow an entire week off with 8 days notice, but mine wont! So I've had a right game explaining the situation at my current position. I wish they'd put this on the application form!

Sorry for the rant, I'm still stressing about it lol got a lot of grey hairs suddenly come through today (they do that :p)

Well done on the walking before & after the interview & for still staying within your calorie limit with the stress, even with the bar of chocolate. I hope you get the job :)

Wow, that is so stressful. It can be so hard organizing a smooth change between one job to the next.

Thank you! Yes I was quite annoyed that they didn't put that on the website description OR the application form, and only told me at the very, very end of what seemed like a super long interview lol. Also they've sent an email saying I didn't attend the interview and therefore will not be continuing with the application process.... I did attend the interview lol what is going on!

Anyyyway :p

April 12th

For breakfast I had 2 veggie sausages with roasted vegetables - approx 250 cal
For lunch just had some of those strawberry fat free pop-tart things (busy work day) 90cal
After getting home, I had a low cal curry and about three spoonfuls of brown rice - 350cal
Just had a veggie sausage patte and vegetable potato fingers - about 250 cal
Total: 940

Might have something small before bed to get it up to 1000

Exercise-wise I basically didnt stop moving from 8am until 5pm, kept a step tracker on me and daily steps were over 30,000! (and it switched itself off for a good hour or two of my shift!)
Managed 10 mins with weights but not much else due to being super tired.

Okay day overall :)

April 14th

Bit of a bad day because I went to the pub.
For breakfast I had veggie sausages with ketchup - 200cal
For lunch low fat sausage patties and vegetable fingers - 200 cal
Before leaving had a pack of those strawberry pop tart things - 100cal
Two and a half pints of guiness - apparently 500 cal although I thought it was more than that
Finally got home and had some Tuscan Bean soup and some tuna - 200ishcal

Total: 1,200 (oh wow, I managed it with beer lol)

Exercise:
Managed 30 mins with my weights in 5 min bursts! An hours regular walking, and 30 mins jogging. Also did a bit of stomach exercise.

On the job front
(Obviously don't read if you cba I won't be offended as it is pretty long :p )

It's looking like I didn't get the job, however may have dodged a bullet as they seem super unorganised.

First as I mentioned, they accept people for interviews who have put on their application that they'll need 2 weeks+ notice to leave their current position. Then they wait until after giving the interview to drop it on them that they'll need to be free for an entire week of training, 9 days after being told they've got the job! Surely that's unprofessional? And it doesn't show much sense of loyalty or responsibility from the candidate, if they would be willing to just drop their position, ditch their employer, and refuse to work their notice. Why would they hire someone like that?

Secondly, the day after my interview they sent me an email saying I failed because I didn't attend it (what?) I replied correcting this, and asking them to please let me know of their decision either way. The lady who interviewed me already told me she would call Friday whatever the outcome, but I wanted to make sure - they ignored this email. I wonder if they got me confused with someone else who didn't turn up on the Thursday?

Finally, despite saying she would definitely let me know either way on the Friday, and me sending an email asking them to please do this even if I have been unsuccessful so that I can let my work know, and try to sort out the training week - I did not recieve any phone call, text, or email. I'm not going to ring them, there's no point as they needed to hire staff by Friday so they obviously have got them. Plus I've got a bad feeling about their company after all of these issues!

For karma I'm kind of hoping they got me confused with someone who didn't attend. And accidentally hired them instead of me, that would be a pretty big shock :p

Sorry for the long message, I needed to vent and maybe it makes my diary more interesting?

April 14th/15th

Did okay saturday - had crumpet with jam for breakfast, then made a low calorie thai green curry with vegetables. Had an orange and a few m&m's in the afternoon but not many - approx 750
Exercise - Hours walk and 20 min run, 10 mins with weights.

Sunday did worse - Had toast with jam for breakfast - 200 cal then cooked a cheese and potato pie for my family. I had a smaller portion with veggie sausages and baked beans, but it still worked out to around 800 calories. In the afternoon I had a small slice of apple pie - 250cal ish.
Approx - 1250
Exercise - Walked up a huge well known local hill, took about 50 mins to get up the hill then about 30 mins to get down. Did 30 mins jogging on the spot.

Today

Tried to be really healthy, had crumpet with jam for breakfast - 130 cal
Went for a 30 minute jog, came back and had some crab sticks for protein - 100 cal
Managed an hours walk throughout the day.
For lunch had veggie sausages and vegetable potato fingers - 300
Did 15 minutes with my dumbbells
Got veggie lasagna for later - 350 cal
Total - 880

Going to do some stomach exercises and maybe some tai chi because although I'm only doing basic stuff and it doesn't burn many calories, it makes my joints feel better!

A similar thing happened to my brother. He had two interviews with a place that he was initially really excited for, but the more he communicated with them, the happier he was that he wound up not getting that job. The way they ran their business was ridiculous and I don't think he would have liked working there.

I hope you ate a little bit more yesterday. 880 is VERY low, even if you are short. I would really recommend not going below 1,000 if you can help it.

Aw glad your brother didn't end up in a job he wouldn't have liked! It really changes your perspective on a place when you see how chaotic their methods are! I had some veggie soup last night before bed, so was about 1000 in the end, and managed the same today.

April 17th

For breakfast I had veggie sausage and wheat bread toast with low fat sunflower spread - approx 200cal
Also had an orange at work - 80cal
Lunch I had protein porridge - 200cal
Salmon Fillet and roasted veggies - 250 cal
Small pancakes - 150 cal
Finally just had some seafood spread on crackers - 200 cal
Total - 1080

Exercise - Did an hours walk, 20 mins run, 10 mins with weights, and a bit of stomach exercise.

April 20th

Sorry for not being on here much, had to cover 10 hour shifts due to the only other person I work with being off with back pain!
Was doing well food and exercise wise until yesterday when I went to the pub, had 4 pints of peroni which made me hungry all day today.

Belivita breakfast biscuits - 230
Two of these large cracker things with low fat spread - 300
Two small fish slices in butter sauce - 250
An orange - 50
Porridge - 200
And still a bit hungry so going to have something light before bed.
1030 cal so far, will probably be around the 1130 mark.

Went for an hour long walk after work and managed a 20 minute jog.

April 25th

Sooo I've bought a Nintendo DS super cheap and it's dominating my life and therefore I haven't really done much other than work and play games.7 Anyway I'm 7 stone 7 now so... that's good I think? Not quite sure. Think I'm supposed to be between 7 and 8.

Today I had a veggie sausage sandwich - one sausage and one thin slice of bread folded - about 200 cal.
Had a crumpet with nutella at lunch and an orange - about 250 cal
Came home and had a jacket potato with thai veggies - 300 cal
Just had some toast with spaghetti hoops - 200 cal
And a beer - 250 cal
Total - 1200

Exercise wise done an hours walk, 30 minutes slow jogging, and 10 minutes with my weights.
Got a hectic weekend, going out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. So will most likely put back on all the weight I've lost lol.

May Challenge

After the past 2 months my body is starting to look a lot better and I am feeling healthier. However, I do feel super tired and feel the need to take naps a lot. So for this month's challenge I am going to alter it completely in hopes that by June I will be at my goal.

Rules:

Every day I will consume 1100-1200 calories at least. All healthy aside from one small treat per week, since I now have no sugar in drinks.
I will do 15,000 steps per day walking or jogging. With one day off doing 10,000 steps.
I will fit in an extra 15 mins jogging every day if possible.
10 mins weight training or other muscle exercises 4 times per week minimum.
Drink once per week and keep them as low calorie as possible.
8 hours of sleep every night.
Lots of water.

Will keep posting on progress as much as possible. It's a very busy time at the moment as the shop I work at is closing at the end of summer, so I am job hunting like a maniac.

So despite being so committed last month, I've actually not lived up to any of it due to a plethora of life problems hitting all at once. I'm feeling a bit better now and I'm trying to sort everything out, but as this is my diary I'm going to rant about it anyway, feel free to not read if you can't be bothered :p

Firstly, my job situation is awful. We are losing our shop soon, and we will be lucky if we still have jobs by the end of July. I've been going to interview after interview, getting more and more nervous each time due to constant failures and the time limit, and not even coming close to getting them. The closest I've gotten is top 10, or round three, or something stupid like that.

Next, the house situation. As I could be jobless in as little as 2 weeks (unlikely, but possible) I have had to tell my landlord. I am lucky enough to have family I can stay with. It will be very noisy and stressful and I hated living there before, but I'm grateful to have the option now. However, this does not get me out of my contract. Meaning I need to find a new person to take over my tenancy, or else I will be expected to pay £500 a month until November, jobless or not.

Thirdly is my health situation. I went to wales with a close friend, to try and get away from all the stress just for a couple of days and forget everything. On the first night, I fell down a grass bank between the caravans (I wasn't too drunk I swear) and ended up in agony with a leg that wouldn't respond. I went to hospital and it turned out that it's a fracture, so I've had a cast on for a week, been on crutches for nearly 3 weeks, and still forcing myself to go to work as I just cannot cope without the money especially not right now.

Lastly, the thing which has hit the most but sounds stupid - one of my closest friends has removed me from her social media, purely because we haven't been in touch with each other properly for over a month. I haven't been in touch with many people in all honesty, and I still liked a few of her posts, and shes liked mine, we just haven't spoken. I don't know how long I've been deleted but I've tried to get in touch and she is just ignoring it. We were fine the last time we spoke, and it's actually hurt quite badly as I do care a lot for her - my introversion and life issues have just been majorly getting in the way. I'm hoping I can sort this out as it's hit me far harder than any of my other issues.

Now for the positives: I've had so much time sitting down and resting that I've been working on my art. I'm hoping to start selling some of my Illustrations to get some extra cash, and try to make enough to be able to stay a little longer at my flat until a replacement tenant is found. Today I started an Etsy Store and a Facebook page for my work. If you could give it a like, it would be a huge help. And obviously any interest in my work is much appreciated, including shares :)

As soon as I'm off these crutches I'll get back on my dieting, just had too much to think about right now. How are you all doing? I hope you are well and look forward to reading through these forums :)
