Mary's Progress to Becoming a Fitness Model

Ok so im going to start this diary. I have this goal of becoming a fitness model...even if i just do 1 thing...i dont need to start a career out of it but its a dream that i keep pushing aside. RIght now i dont know much about it...i am going to do some research and learn how to eat and train like one. I am 5"4' and 133 lbs and i want to be 125 lbs but if i tone up and look great....i dont care what weight i am. Right now i am very into sweets and im trying to stop that...i dont know much about nutrient packed snacks....i dont know NETHING about supplements.l...even tho i want to do this naturally...i want to give myself good vitamins and minerals...i have 2 solid months to devote my whole body and time to this...i know thats now a whole lot of time but i just want to see how much progress i can make. OK so Day 1 (keep in mind this is without any research on how to eat right)

If anyone is reading thisthat can help me or critique my meals...please feel free to comment...criticism is wanted!!! :)

B- 2 egg omelette w/ FF cheese and 1/2 cup veggies w/ coffee

L- Turkey Deli meat on 2 pieces WW bread with light mayo and lettuce and tomato w/ an apple

S- Celery with Reduced Fat Peanut Butter and a glass of milk

D- Vegetarian lasagna with turkey meat and veggies and a side salad and some watermelon

S- milk and a small piece of cake (for fathersday)

and i drink a lot of water troughout the day

good luck w/that. I'd like to be 125 too, and I am a little jealous of the time you have to get that nice bod. Are you doing exercise stuff? Sounds like a very healthy dream to me. I hope you stick w/it, cuz that would be awesome.

thanks for the feedback!!! yea im very excited to basically look and feel healthier and i would love to reach this goal. I feel like since i had this dream since i was a little girl...its something i should do before i die so why not now while im 20 years old and healthy :) and as for the exercise....im going to do some research tomarrow and look into forming some sort of routine. Ill post tomarrow what i find cuz i know ill need some help :) thanks everyone!

June 19, 2006
ok so day 2 of my journey!!! I went out today and got chicken, beans, almonds, cottage cheese for those protein pancakes, and some more veggies and fruits. I feel like im not eating right at all. Heres my plan for today:
B-Kashi Go lean w/ skim milk and strawberries...coffee
L- 2 slices Whole Wheat Bread with 2TBS Reduced Fat Peanut Butter (getting the natural stuff tomarrow) and sliced banana with 1 cup milk
S- String beans w/ low cal dressing some chickpeas
D- Brown Rice, Grilled eggplant with melted part skim mozzarella, and a salad (not enough???)
S- some sort of fruit

I just feel im missing out on a lot of nutrients but im not sure how to add them in. And as for workout...im currrently researching good exercises now but i know i want to do cardio (maybe HITT) atleast 3 times a week and then set days for upper and lower body individually so my muscles can rest. How long should i work my muscles?

I have this party to go to tonight :( This is going to be a test for willpower :p

June 20,2006

ok so im a little pissed........im allowing myself 2 cheat meals (not days) a week because i figure it will be a huge plan going from 7 cheat meals to nothing....so im allowing myself those 2 cheat meals for a nice transition...i eventualy want to get down to 1 cheat meal a week. But i already used 1 of them last night! ugh i was at a party and just had way too much snacks....ugh it just made me realize that i have a huge addiction to sweets. I borrowed a bunch of books from the library today and im going to do some serious reading tonight on nutrition and working out. Im excited :) and im going to eat perfectly for the rest of the week :) Im just going to remind myself how cruddy i felt after eating all that junk food last night to motivate me to eat great. :D

Today is lower body whoo hoo!!! my arms are killing me from yesterday! its a good hurt tho :) if that makes any sense :p I figure im going to weigh myself and take pics every sunday and compare them...in order for me to see my progress. Ill list my meals for today later on...gotta hit the gym now!

Hey mary congrats on going after your dream:)

From reading you might want to add in a little more protein to support that lifting and training you are doing. Every meal you want to get in one protein source. Also a complete protein source (ie the go lean may have 12 grams of protein but its not a complete protein source.) There is really non of that in the last meal day you posted so try adding some skinless chicken, egg whites, fish, turkey so on to your diet plan to balance out those fats and carbs.

thanks a lot! Im still a begginner (and i will be for a while ;) so if i see protein on the nutrition label i think all protein is alike but now i realize that you are right and each protein is different. Im going to incorporate eggs for breakfast...just not everyday...i LOVE cereal...so i will have kashi some mornings and eggs others. How does that sound? And i dont eat red meat so i am going to try to like fish. Especially salmon. And tuna i need to start liking as well.

Ok so i did not eat nearly as much as i should have today. i logged it into fitday and it was only 1,746 calories. Now in the past i would have looked at this number and went WOW MARY YOU PIG because i had some eating issues which lead to a long long time of binging almost daily. but anyways...i ate good foods today just not enough. Well tomarrow is another day and im going to plan out my meals now before i go to bed GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE!

Good job on the calories. It feels better when the calories you eat is on good food and not all junk. I am amazed when all I eat is 1600/1700 calories and there is hardly any junk food in it.

Yup i totally agree with you!! Eating good foods just makes you feel awesome :D So today i was back in the groove of things. I feel like my meals are getting better in terms of protein...i just gotta work on breakfasts...i have no time to make eggs so i usually have kashi cereal or kashi oatmeal or wholegrain toast with natural peanut butter. I guess its an improvement considering i had lucky charms every day  Well here are my meals today.

B- Kashi cereal w/ skim milk and 4 strawberries with coffee
L- 1 can of tuna on 2 slices whole wheat bread with lettuce and tomato
S- 2 stalks celery with 1tbsp natural PB and 6 string beans
D- Grilled eggplant w/ part skim mozzarella and a serving of grilled chicken and a salad
S- Fat free plain yogurt w/ fruit mixed in and a tiny bit of wheat germ

Am i improving at all? O and i feel so full all the time because i used to eat hardly anything all day and now i am eating...does this get better after time passes?

All in all i feel amazing! i have so much energy and i kicked my multiple cups of coffee a day habit :) Today is my off day for working out...but im going to do some yoga later.

Yes, you are. Very good menu. I believe your hunger will get better. You'll get better as time goes on. It's a learning process.

Good on ya for pursuing your dream - it's amazing how we have to learn what should be a simple thing like eating healthy (this is especially true of me). But, thankfully, palates and stomachs and your ways of thinking about eating (most importantly) change. Edited to add: speaking of stomachs, I'd venture a guess the discomfort you're feeling is that your stomach has grown smaller due to the small of amounts of food you gave it to work with. Now it has to revamp for the additional work. What sort of workouts are you doing by the way?

If you do try the bosu ball tomorrow, I'd be interested to hear what you think. Good luck.

Yes that makes a lot of sense...my stomach is definitly not used to getting this much food. on average i would usually go 4 or 5 hours between meals  but now thats change and Moody spaced out mary is far gone  haha

And to answer thequestion about my usual workout...ill just give u an example
Monday- upperbody workout 30 min and cardio 30 min
T- Lower body workout 30 min cardio 30 min
Wed- yoga and meditation

Fri- same as tues
Sat- walking my dog usually 3 miles moderate up hill

For cardio i usually do the elliptical, treadmill, stair stepper, and about once every 2 weeks i take a spinning class.

Well today i kind of feel blahhhh....idk why. I think my anxiety is getting to me lately and i think since im eating more im going to gain a lot of weight. I got a few books on my anxiety problem because i want to help myself...and i am doing yoga and meditation to help that as well. (wow im doing a lot of reading lately!)
Today's meals...
B- Kashi oatmeal YUM and strawberries and coffee
L- Natural Peanutbutter and natural jelly (all fruit no additives) on whole wheat bread and a side of string beans
S- Cottage cheese w/ some sort of fruit
D- SALMON!!!! :) with brown rice and 1 cup vegetables
S- Chai Tea and a sugar free popsicle (i know this isnt nutritious but im dying for chocolate so i dont want to binge)

and im working out later :)

PS: YOGA ROCKS!!!!!

I take yoga on Thursdays (though not this particular Thursday as the class was cancelled) - but I feel once a week isn't enough. It's a different way of exercising, and I enjoy it.

I've never done yoga. Sometimes it looks painful.
