Greetings Lads and Lassies!
I'm putting together a 6 week challenge to help motivate
myself and others in their weightloss efforts.

Being a green eyed, red haired American-Irish Lass myself, I
thought 'what better way to celebrate the fun of St. Patrick's Day'!

The 6 challenge will start on Wed, Feb 3rd and end Wed March 17th.
Each week will present a fun, irish inspired challenge.
(No, there will not be a challenge to drink the most booze LOL)
Complete the challenge to earn points. (1 pt per daily completed)
Lose weight and earn points. (5 pts for a loss of .5lbs + pr week)
Participants with the most points win bragging rights.

Feel free to sign up and play along! You don't have to be Irish, and you are
welcome to join anytime, even if you a little late 8).

Copy and Paste the following:

Ohh I'm TOTALLY IN!! check back on the 3rd! I'm a little sad about the "no booze drinking comp" but I'm off it as part of my diet so I doubt I'd have much tolerance anyway!

WEEK 1 Challenge (2/3/10-2/9/10)

Week 1's Irish symbol:
etsy-leprechaun-500x5001.jpg

A leprechan is actually a type of fairy in Irish folklore. A solitary creature, it's primary occupation is mending shoes and who enjoys practical jokes. The first depicted leprechaun's actullay wore red, not green, a crocked hat and shoes with large buckles. Leprechauns have also become self-appointed guardians of ancient treasure (left by the Danes when they marauded through Ireland), burying it in crocks or pots. This may be one reason why leprechauns tend to avoid contact with humans whom they regard as foolish, flighty (and greedy?) creatures.

So, for Week 1's Challenge, just like some like to follow/track a leprechaun to find it's treasure, your challenge it to track/journal all the food you eat.
You can do it online or in a journal, as long as you write it down so you can look back and see just what you are putting in your mouth. You will then be able to see where good choices were made, and maybe not so good ones, and how to make changes to your diet. Give yourself 1 pt for each day you track your food this week.

Well, Day 1 challenge successfully completed.
I use the self magazine food/exercise tracker. I had about 1400 calories
yesterday and burned a couple hundred exercising over my lunch hour.

I need to remember to make time for me, even though life can be hectic.
My youngest was just diagnosed with a perferated ear drum that will
need surgery- a little stressful. AND, hubby and I are seriously contemplating
moving which is already nervewracking and we havent really begun LOL.

Im a little late, hope that's okay. I've been weighing in on Wednesdays as it is so here goes:

Well the good news is that I have been
tracking my food and getting the points for that. The bad news is
that I didn't make the best food choices this weekend. Got over
2 feet of snow and stuck inside threw off my routine. I did shovel
both days, but def need to get back on track eating the right foods
and right portions!

Will have to see what Wed's weigh in reveals to determine the
amount of damage LOL.

Week 2 Challenge

Sorry for the delay in the posting, but
got over 2feet of snow over the weekend, and now dealing with
a blizzard!

Week 2's Irish Symbol:

shamrock.jpg

One of the most recognised symbols of Ireland, the shamrock was said to be used
by Saint Patrick to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish people.
Ancient Irish Celts also revered the shamrock because of its 3 leaves, believing 3 to be a sacred number.

While it is not recommended to consume shamrocks, it is a good idea to eat your greens
to benefit your health. Week 2's challenge is to include 2-3 servings a fruits/veggies a day.

I feel for you guys with all the snow!! I'm very fortunate to be in central Alberta- we missed out on "snowmaggedon". Is everything at a standstill?

Hey gang- just wanted to be clear about
how points are awarded:
Complete the challenge to earn points. (1 pt per daily completed)
Lose weight and earn points. (5 pts for a loss of .5lbs + pr week)

That's 1 pt pr day that the challenge is met.
and a total of 5pts if a loss is .5lbs or more for the week.
making a total possibly points for the week of 7 + 5 = 12.

On a diff note - I'm about to get my exercise by going out and
tryin to find a place to put all the snow. Got about 2 feet last weekend
in the first storm, and another 20 or so inches from this last blast,
with drifts of 3+ feet. OY!
