low cal, low fat, low carb, which is it?

Thats great. In the book does it say anything about what kind of foods have certain amounts of calories and fats? If it does, I'm going to go get it!

1 gram of carbohydrates= 4 calories
1 gram of protein= 4 calories
1 gram of fat = 9 calories

And kicks butt!

and a book that I recently purchased is called body for life. And if your going for a strict diet/excercise routine then I highly recommend this book, i saw someone else's results by using the program and he had a total body change in 12 weeks. Don't expect miracles but if you stick to it you will see huuuge changes in daily energy, as well as body composition.

Wwwaaaiiittt A Minute!

 Low carb diets are useless. The diet industry is booming based on mis/lack of information. You need to use the food guide pyramid, which states that a majority of your daily dietary intake should be from foods high in carbohydrate content. What most people don't know, is that you need to consider the "nutrient density" of foods. That is, your body uses only three things to make energy. Fat, Protein, and Carbohydrates. The nutrient density is how many calories each of these has per gram. Fat = 9 kcal per gram, Carbohydrates = 4 kcal per gram, and Protein = 4 kcal per gram. Your body needs calories, no doubt about that. But if you consider that a food with zero fat grams, but 20gm of carbs per serving equals 80 kcal. Whereas a food with zero carbs, but 20gm of fat equals 180 kcal per serving. The body receives much more energy from fat than from from protein and carbs due to its nutrient density (or more calories per gram). There is only ONE way to lose weight, and that is to follow your body's natural equation..."Calories in, calories out". Your body's expenditure of calories must exceed what is taken in in order to lose weight. Contrary to popular belief, whether it be protien, carbs, or fats, anything eaten in excess of the body's ability to burn is converted to fat. Yes, even protein. No need to eat less, only the need to eat less of high calorie foods, i.e. high fat. Not to say all fat is bad, only foods with hydrogenated oils and saturated fats. Fat is an essential component of the body, yet would more appropriately be obtained in the form of polyunsaturated fats, and even more preferably, monounsaturated fats (think fish). Saturated fats only come from one source...ANIMALS. Hope the info provided is helpful.

im not going to count carbs, besides im too busy counting other things like calories. im just sticking to 1200 clories a day and try to increase my protein. and of course my daily exercise and no junk!

Just have to say one thing about ATKINS...IT SUCKS... :( If people actually started to look at the amount of fat and saturated fat in those products they will realize that it might make the appearance of leaner muscle on the outside (because the body has no carbs to burn as energy, it reverts to using all the fat it gets as energy; so much less fat is stored) but inside the body saturated fat slowly clogs up the bloodstream and will eventually cause heart problems, and high blood pressure. ATKINS as a long term solution is an extremely unhealthy choice. :( SOON PEOPLE WILL REALIZE THAT :D

I talked to one of my high school teachers that I ran into, and he went on the body for like diet and lost 35lbs in 3 months. It was really great.

If you meant body for life I told ya it was good lol. Im a bum so I quit it and not doing cardio anymore(I know I should). But the program is really focused on cardio and weight lifting. And the diet is in portions and not calories. Every meal has a portion of protein and carbs. Alright rambling again, its good if your looking into losing weight and getting a nice toned body.

lift weights Mon Wed Fri, the sessions last 46 minutes if you do them right. Cardio Tue Thur Sat, for exactly 20 minutes. And the diet is basically for every meal have 1 portion of protein and one portion of carbs. Then On Sunday eat whatever you want within reason. I quit the program because I dont like cardio, and I'm trying to put on muscle mass(which cardio burns away).

they are.. but I remember reading that coconut milk is a source of saturated fats
