Looking for some advice

Alright, here's my story. XD

I am 25 and as of now I am 217lbs. From the ages of 15-19 I was 170-180. I was never toned I just played basketball all day everyday. By the age 23 I realized that all the beer and lack of activity was starting to catch up to me. So bout this time last year I started taking Jiu-Jitsu and dieting better (well I thought I was dieting better anyways). For 2 months my diet looked like this: Breakfast- Eggs/Oatmeal/Bread/Fruit Lunch/Snack-Canned Tuna/Chicken Supper-Chicken/Green Beans/Potatoes.

I lost 30lbs on this diet while also training in BJJ. Now that I have done a lil more research lately I realize that this was not a good diet. So basically I lost weight not fat. I have done a lot of reading and I am still confused on a good diet for the goals that I want to achieve and also a workout routine for the gym I just joined. I want to build muscle but lose the gut. Should I eat to build muscle or should I eat to lose fat?

Another thing is that if I was to eat to build muscle, what should I eat? I used a calorie calculator online and for me to gain muscle I needed to eat about 3100 cals. When I went to figure up what I needed to be eating to get this I had a hard time meeting the goals to eat enough fat and carbs. I dont have enough resources to go and buy all the ingredients for meals. So what would be the best thing for me to do?

Any suggestions? Anybody?

This is, I guess, what I am suppose to have.

Grams/Cals

Protein: 174 / 696
Fat: 95 / 858
Carbs: 398 / 1593

Total Cals: 3147
---------------------------------------------------------------
For the meals that I plan on eating will look like this

Protein: 211 / 844
Fat: 64 / 506
Carbs: 197 / 790

Total Cals: 2099

Ok. But what would be best, focus on losing the gut then building muscle or can I do this all at once?

Also where can I find a demo that will show me what all the workouts look like for lifting?

Well, at first, it's going to seem as if you are doing both because you will probably gain a couple of pounds first before you start to really lose it faster. That's just how it goes sometimes...but I would cut first if that is your ultimate goal.

Well my ultimate goal is to build up quite a bit of muscle. But I def want to lose this fat.

So I should work on losing the fat first?

Thank you that was exactly what I was looking for.
