Lei and Goergen: Hell in Helmets

G, you said you used to train for mma/fighting?

Yup.

What did that look like?

As far as workouts go? I trained 2-3X per day, sometimes 4. Every morning was cardio for 45 min - 1 hour. Nothing fast, just keeping things moving.

Later in the day I did weight training. Usually 1 or 2 exercises then a circuit of some type.

Then I would hit BJJ or MT for 2 or 3 hours.

If I did a 4th workout it was running stairs at the dam or something along those lines.

How did you enjoy the competition?

As it turns out. I am not that tough and do not like to be hit, specifically in the head. So I did not enjoy that part much.

I really enjoyed the training though.

If you didn't like getting hit in the head, you should have worn your helmet!

G~spot, you are my hero. Except for being a pansy. :D ;)

That's my exact plan, MT and BJJ. Melting faces. Except I don't mind taking a beating. Not at all. I think I actually enjoy it.

You say that now...:boxing_smiley:

Hahaha. Trust me, I have some experience in this. Anyway, gimme 8'ish months and I'll prove my point. With videos. :D

I enjoy nothing more than battle. Nothing. Hahahahaha. It's the primary motivation behind all of my fitness goals. I already have the love of a beautiful, amazing woman, and an otherwise excellent life, including outrageous, improbably super health. I desire to crack heads and crush souls. :SaiyanSmilie_anim:

Anyway, this isn't about me. I just wanted to say that G is awesome, and Lei's a skinny little kawai.

Tough luck Buddy, get the bulk going and dominate the 400lb+ category next year. If you can still move at that weight you're sure to win :)

Ok Lei, lets start getting our plan together. Here is my general outline.

Tuesday - Throwing. Lifting. The lifting on this day is going to stay a bit heavier.

Thursday - Throwing. Lifting. The lifting on this day is going to focus on speed more.

Saturday - Throwing. Lifting. This lifting will focus on skill exercises and something heavy if I feel like it.

M, W, F - These days, if lifted on, will focus on drills and more specific strength training.

Things I am going to specifically focus on -

1. Getting Better at throwing.

2. Get stronger. I have made the decision not to be a weak bastard anymore. So I will be focusing increasing strength.

3. Specific strength. I need some better rotating strength and overall movement strength.

4. Power. As always, it is important for me to be increasing my RFD in every way possible.

What is your opinion on doing a ME upper, ME lower, and a xfit?

I'm thinking,
Monday- ME upper
Wednesday- ME lower
Friday- xfit/caveman

I am going to be getting myself into 170+ lbs. Going to get stronger and work on my numbers a bit when grappling ends. For a large part of august, I'm going to train 5-6x a week.

Monday- Lift with emphasis on training energy systems used in my sport. So more caveman/xfit looking stuff
Tuesday- practice
Wednesday- Same as Monday
Thurs- 2x a day practice
Fri- Same as Monday
Sat- Practice

Looking at the xfit site now. They have to run??? Wtf is this ****? I'd prefer to do lifts. And like, 100 ring dips in 3 minutes instead.

8/1/08

My friends were in the gym doing their PT thing. Since they got me in for free the least I could do is not be a jerk and do their thing.

Circuit-
30 pushups
20 V-ups
10 Pull ups
10 ring dips
60 flutter kicks

x4

Then it was on to lifting.

Clean high pulls-
2x5 @ 135
3x5 @ 155

Gm-
2x5 @ 135
3x5 @ 155

8/2/08

Bjj today.

1.) warm up with calisthenics and cardio
2.) Half guard pass with passing the gi through the legs, then on to a sort of 101
3.) Free roll
4.) Drilled choke escapes from back, combo'ed it up to prevent mount. Drilled side control escape arm push. Drilled guard pass

Thoughts-
Need to stay on top! Game is feeling better, other than that.
