Day 11

hello all :)

yay, day 11, thats my lucky number. i needed it too cos i went to my moms for dinner. and my mom cooks really really well. i had been dreading it all week and even considered giving up our weekly family dinners with my mom till the diet was finished. but i had to do her nails so i felt guilty. anyway.... my mom is actually the reason i got started on this diet because it was she who mentioned that a woman at her work had been on it for 6 weeks and had fantastic results. so being the loving mom that she is, she's been taking an interest in it. and specially helped me prepare my meal tonight. so sweet. she keeps telling me how proud she is that i'm doing this and keeps telling me not to give up when i show signs of weakness. she's considering doing it to for the lead up to xmas, and is also attending that wedding in dec that i keep mentioning. she also told me, kurl, everyones gonna be jelous of you at the wedding cos you're gonna look so nice. lol, shame, so sweet, encouraging and supportive. so the weekly visits will continue.

next issue on my mind... i'm going to my friends 30th birthday party  on saturday. and he put's out a really good spread too. he called today and discussed whats on the agenda foodwise. everything delicious basically.
that will be a huge challenge. i'm gonna go in there with the intentions of.... hmm, lets see how i feel. maybe if i just try do the "choose wisely from the options" thing. i really deep down hope that i'll end up sticking to my water. who knows. lets see. this is my second big test.

tomorrow will be the start of my second weekend. hope i'm not as miserable as the first lol

SHINE... i took your advice at my moms tonight and took really big whiffs of the roasted potatoes and pumpkin fritters, as well the the golden crispy skinned roast chicken. :drool5: it does help. i just blanked my mind out at the table and focused on the conversation. that seemed to help too.
a little trick i learned from having a baby with colic 5 yrs ago lol.

thank you for your support and encouragement shine.

so to conclude.... day 11 completed successfully :hurray::hurray::party:

take care ladies, and STAY STRONG :)

Kurl, Take something delicious that is on plan with you to the 30th or eat beforehand. You will feel so much stronger if you can keep resisting food that is off plan. It shouldn't stop you enjoying the night and this won't be for long. You have the rest of your life to eat at parties. Try to stop thinking about all the food you are not having & think of the slim body you could have . Give Cohen's and yourself a chance to succeed. Nibble on little bits of your crackers whenever you feel tempted during the evening. Get away from the food whenever you can. Help in the kitchen. You can do it. You have to want to lose weight & be slim more than you want to eat whatever, whenever, to succeed with this. Enjoy the week-end, cheers, Cate.
PS Your Mum sounds lovely!

What a sweet mum, Kurl! Lucky you - my mum asked me how much I weigh and when I'm going to lose weight on my 40th just recently........

LOL - I laughed at you taking a huge smell of your mum's lovely food - better than eating it!!!

Here's hoping every week end gets easier!!! ;-)

yay

hi all
a quick post to say i went to my friends 30th, and came back unscathed.
woo woo:Angel_anim:

take care :)

Well done Kurl, you earned yourself super powers with that fine effort.

If you can do that one, you can do any of them!

Which Fat Loss Products Would You Choose?

It may not be the most suitable forum for this query, but given that dieting is a country-wide pandemic, I was pretty sure that there will probably be some boys or women in this forum, who have been on any diets at all. If you have some experience whatsoever please share.

I am specially unsure on which diet product to choose, since there are so many options in the market. The latest hypes on Oprah like hoodia gordonii or cayenne do not make this matter any more straightforward. I actually don't have an idea where to commence, should I opt for an exact diet plan, schedule of exercises...All I have come to understand is that a modification is required. And this change needs to happen now.

Hey Kurl,

Just been reading through your diary and stopped on the plastic surgeon part, would have smacked the guys, I have two friends that have done their breasts and he is apprantely one of the best in JHB, his name is Dr Ching and he is at linksfield clinic (have the number if you interested), hope you don't mind me recommending discussing this with you.

You sound very motivated and i take my hat off to you, you will most certaininly reach your goal by the wedding and if not you will be really close!!

Have a great day!

Angela

I would try reading the sticky threads. No pills or potions will work, and im not going into explaining it here because its plastered all over the forum in various sticky threads (newcomers sticky threads probably the best)
As for Oprah. she shows you things, not endorses them. She gets paid to show you thinks (thats why she can afford to give away cars!).
She does not use any dieting gimmick other than a good healthy diet.

day 18 (i think???)

hello cate, shine, angel-sa and everyone

thank you for your posts of encouragement :) it's always needed.

oh.... it's been a while since i last posted. almost a week actually.

angel-sa, i dont mind at all, slightly or in the least with you discussing the breast surgery thing with me :) thank you for that.
sadly..... i have heard of dr ching. and the reason i say sadly is because he is out of my budget. i have an appt for the 1st dec with another surgeon (not a carte blanche special) lol.

i will see what he quotes me and go from there. it's actually so hard nowadays to do this as there r so many dodgy ppl out there offering cheap jobs. so thanks again. any info is great and appreciated.

k, now onto the weight. my deviations involve the odd missed meal :(
but thats it. nothing but cohens (measured) food has passed my lips. it gets easier each day regarding the appetite side of things, but so much harder when it comes to the food options. i'm finding i'm dreading mealtime.
my mom has a copy of the cohens recipe book. will get it tomorrow night. it is highly vital at this stage.

the thing is..... i am like a kid that hates my vegetabes. :puke: and thats on a good day. but i must say, the crackers are awesome (they get sweet like normal sugar biscuits.) and the fruit is sooooooo sooooo sweet and tasty.
i definitely appreciate them a whole lot than before.

i decided i'm going to follow cohens right up to the wedding. cos i dont want to stop a day before and arrive at the wedding bloated cos my body's not used to "normal" food. i'll get bloated there and blame the booze lol ha ha

have a great night (or day) all :)

take care and stay strong
kurl :seeya:

Hello Kurl, your positive attitude towards Cohens food is fantastic. Keep that up and you will succeed. That's a good idea to stay on the plan right up until the day before, just be careful on the day, or you may pay for it later, by way of how you feel.
I'd rather have a deviation from a missed meal, than a cheat from something non-Cohens. A missed meal is easier to improve on.
You will find ways to make those vegetables lovable lol. They will become a part of your life that you wont want to give up. I was like that with fruit, and I really enjoy it now.

thanks l-jay :)

i cant wait till i can enjoy the taste for veggies.
i'm feeling very strong still. have had alot of feeling sorry for myself days. fortunately it's not diverting my determination. im already fitting into jeans that prior to the diet would've caused alot of blood constriction lol.
i'm feeling better about myself already. i almost feel impatient. i want this weight off now. but i know i just gotta keep on keeping on. and it is exciting seeing the changes. i'm going to my mom for dinner (cohen's dinner of course).
and i am curious to see if she can see a drop in my weight.
oh, and angel-sa... just thought i'd let you know..... i'm cancelling my plastic surgeon appt for the 1st of dec. and have made an appt with, wait for it.... DR CHING. he's fully booked till next yr (thats a sign of his work) i'll go and see what he says and quotes and take it from there finance wise. my hubby wasnt too happy about that. but i feel strongly about going to a great doc. so thank you for mentioning it to me as i have been hearing awesome things about ching and your message added to it. it'll be my reward for losing weight. among feeling good about myself, health and being the best i can be.

yes l-jay, you're right about not overdoing it at the wedding. i dont wanna explode out of my clothes. lol

thanks to everyone for your posts. i look forward to logging on and seeing what everyone has to say.

this weight forum/online diet diary thing is awesome. it should be compulsory for all diets. really makes such a huge difference. my sister who is very supportive, politely mentioned to me to talk less about this diet. think i'm driving her crazy lol
so its awesome to be able to xpress myself regarding it with people who are going through the same thing.

take care all.... and stay strong.
kurl

p.s. as i mentioned on angel-sa's thread in a post... my new motto is... "cheating is not an option"

Hi Kurl, You're doing well & getting stronger every day. I found myself talking about Cohen's too much & luckily found this forum after about a month of starting. Now I drive everyone crazy here instead! It's a little like work-talk in that outsiders really aren't that interested in all the detail.
What vegetables have you tried since starting Cohen's & which ones do you like (any?) & really dislike? Do you like salad? I think it's important to try to switch around the dislike for vegetables. Often it's how they're cooked rather than the taste of the actual vegetable. I'm curious. Long-term maintenance will be tougher without vegies.
Love your new motto! Cheers, Cate

Hey Kurl, I keep forgetting to ask! Did you attach the poll to your diary somehow or did it just happen accidentally? Your diary seems to attract the most spam & I'm wondering if that is the reason. If it was accidental you could ask to have it removed. Cheers, Cate

hi everyone

wishes... how do i get rid of it? cos the spam is highly annoying.

cate, i like green peppers, cucumber and tomatoes. i dont care for the rest much. tho it certainly does taste better when my mom cooks them for me. at least i have the cohens recipes now.

i'm still cheat free. tho must admit that this weekend seemed to be harder than the others. movies.... popcorn, watching my family eating hotdogs, crisps, moms cooking, sweets and chocolates. fortunately my motto got me through not having any of them.
tomorrow (technically today as it's really late) i'll have been dieting for 3 weeks. the longest i've stuck to a diet since i had my daughter (5 yrs).

at least the weekend is over and i can look forward o waking up to my favorite meal on cohens (egg and tomato with crackers) :)

take care all and stay strong
kurl :)

We'll need to remove the poll. I don't know of any other way to do it, then to have you make another diary thread and just post something...then I can go in and merge this diary w/o the poll into the new diary.....at least its worth a shot?

Hi Kurl. Wanting the weightloss sooner rather than later is normal. But don't forget the unexpected improvements with health and things. Everybody experiences changes they never expected. With me, one of the things was the immense energy. My general health improved dramatically after the first time I did this, and even when I wasn't doing it, it didn't seem to regress. Well done on keep your motto strong in your mind. These things are priceless for keeping us on track. One more week and you've achieved a month. I battled a bit with the veggies initially because most of the ones I love aren't allowed. Have a great day x

day 30 :)

hello all

i've reached day 30 and have still only had cohens food pass my lips.
shoo.... it's the wedding on sat. i've got 4 days left. i was stressing about what to wear to the wedding and remembered a long tight (but fortunately stretchy) black dress. so i tried it on and hub, mom and sis all approve. just gonna dress it up with some glam shoes, jewelry and a clutch (which i went and bought on sat).
just gotta work on the tan as it has a long slit on the side of the dress. and lots of cellulite cream is in use too lol.
i'm feeling very bloated today tho :( but at least when i get bloated now it's not as obvious as it was. i havent been weighing myself tho. judging by my clothes. i know it's going to be so hard to get bak onto cohens after new yrs.
oh well, i'll just take each day as it comes and tackle that when it arises.

i hope you are all well.

take care and stay strong :)
