Kate's diary A New Beginning

Have you thought about putting kidney beans in your salad to help with your protein?
I think it is delcious!!!!..
Remember you have got to eat to lose weight or your body is going to think you are starving and it is going to hold on to what you hate...
As for exercise....I am in high agreement with Juliann.....exercise in the morning.....
First to get it over with....And I know it is so hard to get out of bed in the morning...but after a while...your body will CRAVE it....
Also when you exercise in the morning..it jump starts your metabolism for the rest of the day.....
Do you have a walkman?.....Download some songs that really get you in the mood and pumped up!....Since I have done this my walks seem to pass by fast!!!...

You are all so right. I need to start exercising in the morning. Much less time to talk myself out of it that way. I've been slacking a bit. It's no good...I have to get back up and moving. My food has been good, but skipped breakfast yesterday. I've got my calories up to where they should be. Anyway since I'm joining the five lb club today I had to weigh myself. 4 lbs lost, one step closer to where I want to be.

Hi Blueskies, when I see your pic it makes me smile. You give off this energy. And you remind me of a young Alanis Morrisette. (sp?)
Anyway... good luck!

4 lbs!!!!!.....WAY 2 GO!!!!!!!.......So happy to hear that!!!!
You need to make sure you eat breakfast EVERYMORNING!!!.....Whether it is a piece of fruit or protien bar!!!!
Before you go nighty night..have your work out clothes and shoes ready....anthing you need to exercise have it set out on the dresser.....wake up..splash some cold water on youir face..throw your hair in a ponytail..brush your teeth. dont give yourself time to think.....do it like a mindless robot....when you start thinking..you can talk yourself out of it......do 15 minutes....if your feeling good do 30.....if your into it ...do 45..and so on....I love the way exercise make my mind feel afterwards.....
Let me know how it goes....

hey babe... it sounds like you have been struggling a bit with the calories.. peanut butter is definately one great way to get some extra cals - did you try the peanut butter on the apple?! now THAT is awesome...

I agree that you could add things like garbanzo beans or raisins or kidney beans to salads... anything to get a bit more content in your diet. I don't know if you are eating cheese or not, but cottage cheese, and any sliced cheese added to some crackers makes a great snack... I love cottage cheese with a little bit of honey added... it sounds strange - but it tastes SO good!

hope you are doing well... and that you can get up in the morning and get your workout in!!!!

where are you?

Hey Kate,

Is everything ok, you havn't posted for a while, I just wanted to check up on you. I hope all is well.

Julie

Hey all sorry for my lapse -- My friend came down for the weekend and then I got sick and all my good plans went out the window! But, at least I'm back now, I'm happy for that and really missed all the encouragment you get here. So exercise this week was not good...not at all. I took a few walks, but that was the most. I turned it around today so I know I can get back on the horse, plus I owe it to group 4....I'm doing 2 extra things a day until our challenge day to pull me along. Today I added an extra 16 minutes of running (yuck!) and 25 sit up esque things on this machine I have. I'm doing a 45 min to an hour aerobic tape later tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to get the big chunk of exercise out of the way in the morning.

Food was not bad this week, but I stopped logging the food and felt a little out of control not knowing how many calories I was consuming. It was not a feeling I liked so that is good. Started again today and I am in at 1285 (goal of 1200-1300 per day so thats good). Also got my water in and am sure that I won't be eating after 8...it's become a bit of a habit so next week I may up the time to 7:30. Anyway, I am back and plan on working hard this week to make up for last week.

Christina -- thanks for the complement...that was so nice to hear. People used to always tell me I looked like Alanis Morrisette..or when my hair was short it was neve campbell (is that her last name??? can't remember)...

totallyscrappy, cm and rose -- thanks for the congrats...I'm so happy about the loss and want to keep moving forward. Thanks for the support!

TurtleMomma -- I'm back in the game..sorry for the disappearing act! How are things with you?

Kcruz -- Still having trouble with the exercise in the morning thing. I just have to start doing it so it becomes a habit. I'll let you know how it goes.

amomono- thanks for the suggestions. I've been able to pull the calories up a bit. Love the peanut butter with the apple...it is great.

Julieann -- thanks so much for thinking about me. You made me want to get back up and start working again. I kinda went off the plan there for a bit.

yay for group four! Your exercise plan looks awesome. And way to go for turning around that aweful disease of falling off of the wagon! Glad you're better! It's no fun being sick.

And...again....huzzah for Group four!

Hey Blue!!!!
..................I get kinda paniky when my schedule changes for some reason..( like getting sick or friend dropping by)...the key is to try and prepare ahead of time.....We are going to Malibu tomorrow so I cant do my morning walk or curves.....but I have decided to take a good walk along the beach.....and what ever fast food / resturant we eat at....I know I will have me a salad...and grilled chicken and some beans or rice......And I will order it right off the bat with out staring at the menu.......because once you get a hold of a menu and start reading............say goodbye to the salad..and....hello fat , cheesy....what ever it may be.
As for the exercise..this is what I do.....I get my walking pants and work out shirt along with my exercise bra...and I put them all on a hanger on my door. I get my socks and put them in my shoes and set them beside clothes. Then I lay my walkman, ponytail holder, gum, perdometer, and keys on the counter. I put ice in my water jug and sit it in the freezer over night.......in the morning when that alarm clock goes off I do stretchs in bed....(to andreas's dismay.)..lol....I then jump up splash cold water on my face...brush my funky breath.....I eat a nutrigrain bar / take my pills and have some o.j. while i am getting dressed....then I grab everything and head out the door.......its not always easy.....you have to make yourself do it........dont tell your self how tired you are...or how you hate exercising........say:......I am gonna burn some stubborn fat today.....I am gonna make my heart healthy and my skin beautiful......Talk yourself INTO exercising...not OUT.....

And by the way...you do look like Neve Cambell and have her smile!!!!!! Shes so pretty which means..........
.

cm -- feeling much better thanks! I'm back on the wagon...YAY!

kcruz -- thanks again for the great advice. I do always have a lot of trouble when my schedule changes and somehow I didn't put two and two together. I will definately start planning for those things. As for morning exercise...well..I am going to be working on this one. I think it will be one of the hardest challenges for me. I'll keep you updated on that one. Oh..and thanks for the complement. I love how everyone on here complements each other. I don't think I have ever been anywhere where people felt comfortable about doing that. Anyway..I think all of us are beautiful...really, inside and out.

Okay diary...Friday I did an hour of aerobic execise late at night...I found some old tape I had from the 90's and thought I would pop it in. It was HARD...not very fun, but there was this great section for abs butt and legs that I could feel working muscles I never work. I'm going to incorporate that little ten minute section every other day or mix it up with this pilates for abs video I have.

Saturday is my rest day so no exercise. I was babysitting and usually I am horrible when I go to these people's house. They have tons of junk food. well, I wouldn't say I was great, but not as bad as I used to be. I talked myself out of eating chocolate chip cookies after the kids went to bed. I ended up a little low on calories but not too bad.

Today was much better. I made sure I got in all the cals I needed and the water too. Exercise...haven't done much yet, but will. I'll post that tomorrow. Anyway, things are going good, just have to start moving my exercise up earlier in the day and I guess that is going to be the thing I focus on until I get used to it.

As for my diet. I am on week three of the change one diet which is snacks so I need to try to incorporate 2 healthy snacks a day around 100 cals each. This will be good for me because I tend to have too large of a dinner and will force me to eat more regularly.

I also started a post in the club area for weekly goals. I'm going to post a goal there each week and if anyone achieves it they post that in the forum. I thought it would be a nice addition to all the things we are already doing. Feel free to pm me with any suggestions for goals. I was thinking about maybe have beginner and intermediate goals because some of you are already doing so good and I want these goals to serve as a motivation for boosting your (and of course my) performance.

Okay...think that is it for now. Good night all!

2 HEALTHY SNACKS....HMMMMM.WONDER WHAT THEY COULD BE......HMMMMM.....ORANGE YOU GLAD YOU CAME TO THIS FORUM?......SO....WHO IS THE APPLE OF YOUR EYE?....BEEN ON ANY DATES LATELY?....I LOVE THE SMELL OF STRAWBERRY SHAMPOO......MY FIANCE GOES BANANNAS WHEN HE IS IN BEST BUY.........ONE DAY WE WILL GET MARRIED BECAUSE WE CANTALOPE .....ITS SO GRAPE HAVING YOU AS A FRIEND........LOL....i KNOW I AM A CHEESY DORK!!!

kccruz -- Very creative...Now everytime I eat a fruit I think of you!!

Diary -- I haven't been posting enough...Everything is going really well. I'm doing so good with my eating and I can feel the difference. It's funny how ignorance really can contribute to weight gain. I had pancakes today for breakfast..the right serving size and added some blueberries ontop for a total of 175 cals. 3 weeks back I would have eaten about 3 servings of pancakes (420 cals) plus bad bad syrup (210 cals) for a grand total of 530 calories. I just had no idea what the right serving size was and didn't really pay attention. And of course I did this with every meal so you can imagine how much I was eating. The thing is I was full after the normal serving size...who would have thought???

I have not been exercising. My problem is I try to start of huge and then I give up. I'm going to start working on a plan to slowly add it to my routine. Change one has a 8 week exercise course like their diet and I will use that and probably add on a few things myself. I dusted off this old cindy crawford workout tape and man was that tough. I didn't even last 10 minutes into the exercise portion. So I'm going to use that as a little extra...Make it through as much as I can and keep working up to the point where I can make it all the way through. A nice little challenge for myself.

I'll post my exercise changes each week after I get a plan in place. I am proud of the way I have taken control of my eating though...now I just need to add that in.

As for weight loss...who knows? I have to get on the scale tomorrow for the 5lb club, but I'm not concerned about the outcome. why? Well today I had one of those good experiences...Three weeks ago I couldn't fit into a pair of jeans I have and today I tried them on and I could. They aren't loose by any means, but they fit. I was so happy. So even if I lost nothing, something is happening with my body and for once it is a good thing.

I'm going to try to start posting here more. It does good for me and keeps me motivated. Plus you all are so great.

Hi Blue!~
I loved your diary entry... you totally know where you want to be and soon you will get there! One day at a time... that's all it takes. And for us to remember portion control! lol I remember when I would eat 1 and 1/2 chicken sandwhiches on garlic bread with mozz ceese and red sauce... Could you imagine how many calories, fat and carbs are in 1 and 1/2 of those things? yet I would eat them like once a week! No wonder I was way up there on the scale...
But now we know, right? So all we can do, is the best we can do!
And you are DEFINATELY doing the right thing with Cindi Crawford.... just keep doing it until you can get through the whole tape... then b4 you know it you will be able to do the tape EVERY DAY! and LOVE IT!
you'll see!
DON'T EVER GIVE UP! Promise?
keep going Blue! you're doing fine!
