who in their right mind would want to wear jeans to work out?

Someone with style  jk
Just to clarify things, I don't wear jeans when I work out.

Cargo Pants and other things with lose pockets/items: Safety hazard. Woodshops and auto shops don't allow these for a reason and the same for the weight rooms. These things can get caught on something. Logic concludes that the less things hanging out and the tighter your clothes are, the less of a chance it will catch on to something.

So now MP3 players or anything with headphones?

Let's say someone was lifting a really heavy bench, and you just happen to pass by and your pants get caught on the bar for just a second and causes them to lose grips and smash their chest.

Or let's say you're walking and your pockets get caught on a weight rack and it comes crashing down on your foot.

Since when did MC Hammer pants come back in style? I'm not following your logic. When was the last time you saw a pocket catch on something? And why are you walking that close that a pocket would get caught?

If I ran a gym, no one would be wearing lose clothing, sandals, or jeans. As a matter of fact, just to show them how unsafe it is, I'd drop a five pounds on them.

Shoes or no shoes or sandals. A five pound weight will do just as much damage.

What I recommend to do is use a cargo pants, but cut out all of the pockets.

Pockets are on the inside. Now you're just walking around with holes in your pants.

I think everyone that goes to a gym that doesn't allow them to wear pretty much what they want should go up in arms. These are stupid rules.

I had a guy that worked at my university gym tell me I had to wear shoes while deadlifting so it would protect my feet. I kindly thanked him for reminding me the shoes would save the 400 pounds smashing down on my feet.

I'm happy someone put forth the energy to respond to Dallen's comments. Sometimes he just confuses the **** out of me. :costumed3:

Do they have those little metal domes on them? Maybe they were worried about them ripping the upholstery or poping a swiss ball.

Well jeans arent athletic clothing. Get some shorts from your school store or order online. You can get them for real cheap anyways.

athlete apparel should be worn in the gym. t-shirts, tank tops, sweat shirts, sweat pants, knit/mesh shorts, etc.

rivets in jeans and some other styles will indeed punch right through the pads on benches.

my gym does not allow jeans nor open toed shoes/sandals.

Sandals to work out?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How friggin stupid can you get. Theres no support in those at all. You're asking for an injury doing that. I don't even WALK with sandals on.

I know. It's completely idiotic. I'm not even sure it's allowed in our gym. We don't have any "rules" posted because I think the owner assumes if you're in his gym, you already "know the rules" ...

****, I wear Fox racing shorts half the time. The half I don't need to use my legs for anything, obviously.
And I will punch the first fool who tells me this is not appropriate!

Also, whycome that chick's bum looks like a boy's bum.

I'm doing lunges tonight. Maybe I'll wear flip flops. Or better yet just socks.
