Is it wrong to wear a temporary tattoo?

Put it where it belongs ... underneath your sporran ;)

I could do that. Might be a bit painful. Nothing a little whiskey wouldn't take care of.

Listen, if you really like them, it's your call and nobody else's. But i think deep inside you feel that it's too ghay and you just want to hear it from the people in this forum. Do whatever you want to do, don't listen to noone.

Jeez.....I just posted this late last night and alread it's hit the 5th page with some 63 responses; is the forum that dry for material? :D

LOL...I'm not taking any of this personally....it's just discussion. Funny thing, I think my greatest hesitation is based on the whole concept of it being "forever" and my inability to make a decision on which design...but there are many other factors. I guess this thread is becoming "Should I get a tat?".....

I don't have a temp on now and I know the shark was a bit kiddie. At first it was just for fun, but I have to say....to my surprise, I actually enjoyed the Chinese symbols and it really passed for real ink, I even got several compliments on it....but at the same time, when I told people it was a temp-tat and I was just screwing around with the kids...it seemed a bit embarrassing. And the odd thing: it wasn't what people thought, it was what I perceived people were thinking.....but isn't that life? :)

In the end, people see how much weight I've lost, how much muscle I've put-on and how hard I work....their impression and thoughts of me (which shouldn't matter anyways) are not going to be changed by my having or not having a tattoo...real or otherwise. But it's funny how many people said it didn't fit me before and yet now that I've gotten into shape, it is me. And btw...how many fat, lathargic blobs have you seen wearing bad-ass tat's and these people can barely lift the remote to change the stations on the tv? Hoenstly, I've seen lots of people in tat's that just look ridiculous. I dunno, I'm just torn on the whole thing....and again, the whole permanent/forever thing really bugs me, I'm not sure I could ever decide on any design.

I'm sure there came a point for all those who do have tattoos when they asked themselves if they really were ready & willing to make the committment and I suppose I wanted to explore that. My hesitations are not clear to me....it's not entirely religion (and yes, I'm Jewish)...and I'm horribly un-fond of needles...but more overly I think it's the social implications. I just can't quite sort it out....but like a test-drive, I'm inclined to play the temp-thing and see how it runs for a couple months. In the end, I'm partially afraid my wife will be very much against it and I don't really want to deal with that confrontation....it's not so much that she could stop me, but rather that she'll request I not and then you have to factor that into the equation. It's complicated.

I'm not the least surprised to hear those who have tattoos to be repulsed and against the temp-concept. You've taken the plunge and made the committment....to you it's as disgusting as it is to me when I see my fat-lazy friends sit around watching tv and proclaiming they can eat what they want because their on Lipitor. Nobody likes possuers.

But yeah....my thoughts were to either get the real-deal or not and my hunch was that it's sad to use temp's....

BEST ADVISE & THOUGHTS YET.....and yes, I do think the temp-thing is a bit ghey and was curious where everybody weighed-in on it. The play on humor is big on the forum, but I do consider all of you friends and the humor to this point has been awesome!!!

But if you think the temporary tattoo looks good, I say there is nothing wrong with wearing a temporary tattoo. I mean putting a "fake" mark on your skin, IMO, is comparable to people putting "fake" color in the their hair, or "fake" spray on tans; no one criticizes that, its accepted. Whatever little things make you feel better about yourself are fine, I think. And you have no obligation to tell anyone whether its real or not.

Also excellent advise and points. I think it got carried away with the fake-tan thing....but Red-P is right...people dye their hair, wear jewelry, put-on fake eye-lashes and all sorts of things. Yet, there's no such things as fake hair dye AND there is such a thing as fake tattoos. I think it's the monicker of "fake" the bugs me....yeah, that's it. I'd never go fake abs...so why a fake tattoo. Such interesting mental drama on this one....

He's Trisuitist. He's not allowed to have anything at all on or between his flesh and his Mancage™ that The Lords of Triathalon did not put there, except in the popped collar region.

What can I say....the man knows me! :D

Years after his death, the humor of Focus will still be examined, explored and studied. The man, the myth, the humor! :D

Btw, F-man....tri-suits are sleeveless so anything on bare skin is kosher. :)

Oh yes there is. Spray in or temporary hair dye vs. permanent hair dye ;)

I myself have always had an issue with the whole fakeness thing. I've never been able to bring myself to do things like dye my hair, wear color contacts, or even wear a padded bra just because I feel like if it isn't really me, I have no right to be proud of it. Not that this really affects a tattoo discussion though. Or does it? *shrug*

dude, yeah, the whole permanent thing is the reason I wouldn't ever get a tattoo. I just figure that someday I might look back and regret it. Plus... being in the business world, it would be a big hassle to have to hide the tat all the time.

Again on the permanent note, a friend of mine who works in the MRI department of a hospital has told me horror stories... about turning over old folks only discover that their once proud eagle tattoos are now sad, drooping vultures... *shudder*

I hear you guys....and RWS strikes a big point.

I suppose we can change our clothes, haircuts and even put on & take-off jewelry...all these things to suit different occassions, people and situations. As for a tattoo...it's not realy something you can change and I've seen lots of old folks swimming in the pool with tats that look like they have skin cancer or an ink-cartridge exploded on them. There are pro's & con's to everything in life....and it's for each and all of us to assess what's right for each of us.

I'd enjoy the one tattoo about 70% of the time, but it's a 100% committment....so there ya go. I still don't think a maintained Henna is all that bad and ya know, I'd be more embarrassed to walk around with a big fat gutt then to have a temp-too on my arm.

You know, I get asked "what are you going to do when you're 80 and it doesn't look good?" I have to laugh at that because when I'm 80 I'm not going to care.

However, it really depends on how you take care of yourself. My grandmother is 77 and got a tattoo when she was in her 40s. She's near a vegetarian in her diet, goes to the gym, and jogs 3-5 miles a day. Her skin looks great, non-saggy, and her tattoo while being a bit discolored still looks good because she took care of her skin.

If you're in the business world, the only thing you'd have to worry about is your forearms. Everything else is covered by the suit.

Not if you're a woman looking for a promotion ;)

Ok that was a horrible joke, I apologize and I deserve a spanking...

Oh god someone stop before I say anything any worse. I'm tired and lonely and have no control over my mind o_O

Well, as long as you have control of your body, you'll be fine. :) Unless you were 13 and with R. Kelly

I actually met him briefly at the screening of Trapped in the Closet II; Luckily I came prepared, wearing a poncho and armed with a pocket umbrella in a holster.

Oh i'm there already
