Is it just me?

Hey, some people LIKE it right in their face. ANd out of those people, only a handful enjoy the gaseous volcanic discharge from the surface.

I dunno but check this out

That's not true. 90% of all emos do it for the attention. They know it's down the street, not across, they just wanna worry you a little.

:)

...and here comes the crying...

BAWWWWWW

I wasn't around for any of the drama (thankfully! heh)...but here's a guess:

Maybe she (or other people who have left) have simply asked themselves the following question -

Do I feel BETTER in my life if I participate in this forum? Or does it bring me more stress?

I've been around enough online communities over the past 15+ years (woo for the BBS systems at 2400 baud!) to see lots of people leave for that reason and plenty more who SHOULD leave, but stick around due to some sense of obligation. Either it's working for you and you feel like you gain something from the sense of community, the friends you make, the stuff you learn, the motivation you get, the opportunity to help others, and so forth. OR it's not working and it becomes something you put your time into, and it is more a source of annoyance and frustration to you, or at least something that is not as valuable as other uses for your time.

I don't claim to know Der, but given what I do know, I can see why she might decide that participating here is only a source of negative, rather than positive, energy.

I dont see how anyone could say there's a negative energy here. I think its 99% positive.

People make jokes, share feelings, give advice, learn, get to know each other (to a certain extent), etc etc

you see there! and I was almost feeling a sense of relief Derwyddon- then you had to go and be human, with feelings, and everything!!! Good grief! heheeh :p

I really like what sig had to say. Me stopping and asking myself those questions allowed me to get the forum back into perspective.

I come here because it adds accountability, and a social element to what could otherwise be very lonely (ironman training.) Yes there are others that are training, BUT, and any ironman will agree, when you are headed out to do a "brick" that will take in excess of 2-3 hours, trying to stay hooked up is almost impossible, and it is definately irritating.

I can take my friends and peeps from here with me mentally. AND, I also find that I do better when I am coming to post it to you all.

Last night, if I didn't have to DO MY DEAL, because of harrassing NAE, and because S[parrow is racing, and because the Gooch and Markmywords are runninmg today, and, and, and, and GT lurking, and Rich is out for heart surgery... I may have not pushed as hard.

Maybe some people leave here because of just that- WE ARE for the most part SWEATING DAILY- and that takes work.

Well said FF. I just basically created this thread because it has died out lately.

The weight training area is increasingly becoming boring due to the same old questions.....'how is my routine' 'my new routine' 'how do i get big' etc etc

I meant a source of negative energy for her, not generally speaking. I think this place has lots of positive energy, but that doesn't mean it's right for everyone.

But glad you're still here, Der!

Yeah I don't answer any of those question and I'm totally sick of them. There's so much "How do I get abs?" or "I have a wedding to go to in six days and I need to lose thirty-seven lbs and I've been eating nine bowls of Special K a day and it's not working!" And the ever useful "I need to lose weight what do I do?"

Seriously though I come here because I have friends who support me and are here to make friendly conversation, and also friends who are experts in this field and provide me with great advice and help.

Wait, I've been gone from these forums for so long that I missed out on what little drama occurred. What happened with Derwyddon exactly (in cliff form)?

I'll admit though....I've been much more active on the BB.com forums. I've been a member there for about 3 years and remember how it was in it's earlier days. Plus it's extremely fast-paced and filled with entertaining drama.
