Is bench a necessity?

Is English not the first language of Scotland? What is up with your grammar/spelling?

Your logic is highly flawed with regards to using a bed for a benchpress, but you are young so I won't hold that against you.

My horse comment is an analogy about genetics, but I am only saying this based on what you have told me. For all I know you are 85 pounds soaking wet.

and sorry m8 it isnt genetics..i use to be thin and the bed techniqe worked fine for me and i have had no injurys and if you dont like my advice thats perfectly fine. and i conider my weight lifting not poor if it works it works just cause i have diff veiws doesnt mean they are invalid veiws

See? That is where you are wrong, and that is what my horse comment was about. I have seen MANY people who had success DESPITE their ignorance. Don't take that term the wrong way... It is not meant as an insult, but you clearly don't know much about weight training. Our views are different, but yours are based on an absence of knowledge, you have no credibility or credentials, so doling out advice as if you are an authority is not just irresponsible, it can be dangerous, as you demonstrated with your whole bed-as-a-bench practice.

i was willing to take the risk to save some cash as are some people about buying cycling helmets and if like me you arent loaded full of cash you gota surfice i say

Hope you have filled out your organ-donar card "mate."

even if i had the dosh still not enough room besides iv pretty much gave up weights

This doesn't take up too much space... It kind of cracks me up... I have all this fancy weight lifting equipment in my gym, but when I train my own clients, almost all I use is a bench or a swiss ball, the floor, dumbbells, and other little implements like jump ropes. Point is, if you want a great home gym you can develop a seriously great body with nothing more than a set of and a .

Dude, Scottish, you're incredibly ignorant when it comes to weightlifting and muscle growth, and grammar for that matter! Yes, muscle shape (notice the spelling of muscle, m u s c l e) very much does depend on genetics. I really do not know where you are getting your information, but it all does not make a bit of sense to me. Let me sum up your weightlifting theories,
(1) Eat more fat to gain more muscle and prevent muscle loss
(2) Bench press on a bed w/out a spotter
(3) If you are trying to prevent muscle loss workout more
(4) Genetics have nothing to due with muscle growth
(5) If you are trying to lose muscle do not eat for days at a time until you get dizzy

Yeah, you should right a book or something, that's some good stuff.
I don't care if you advise someone incorrectly on dietary questions, rep questions, ect. But, when it comes to something like this I do care. Bench pressing can be very, very dangerous, and a times deadly. Bench pressing on a bed without a spotter is absurd. It's not advised to bench press without a spotter on a bench, much less on a bed. Maybe you should be the one ASKING the questions...

Scottish,
Do they really give you access to the internet from your institution? I think they need to increase the dosage on your Haldol. You are one bizzarre cat!

I know your type of individual Sottish. You always have to get the last word. That is fine, I am sure you will come up with some readily, incorrectly spelled reply for me in no time. But, just bear in mind that everyone on this forum thinks you are a complete moron. If you knew anything about bodybuilding you would know that you can do a full body workout with dumbells and a stability ball or bench (no bed included though, your secret hasn't been let out yet!). But, then again, you would have known a lot of other things if you weren't a mentally-challenged person. Take maybe spelling for instance...
