the search feature does have it's merits -

we contemplated using it on another forum, but found better ways around spam problem...

but there are a lot of spammers that know their threads will get deleted immediately and they will be banned, so they resort to using the PM feature to send out their spam... so the keyword search function could be used to track spam...

That would make sense and make good use of it. I haven't been on any forums where spam was a problem, so there wasn't a need for that type of feature, IMO.
 
Steve for the record they can only read them if they have not been deleted. So just delete all sent and read info once you get it if you want less chance of your material being read.
