I'm Losing Weight Without Exercise.

Hi Nasseny.

Is 100 lbs even a healthy weight for you? My youngest son is like 10 and I think he weighs around 98 lbs. He is about your height or a little shorter (because I'm 5'3" and he's still shorter than me...but of course not for long.)

You should aim for a healthy weight - not something that is put on the charts that says we should look like a waif. It's not healthy. If you've got muscles and are toned you will probably weigh more but look fabulous! I would set my weight goals a little higher. Aim for a toned physique not the waif look.

How old are you?

I'm 16 years old,
100 to low eh?
Maybe 120 lbs is better?

I really don't think, at your age, you should be getting your advice from an internet forum.

why not. I would appreciate not being looked at as a child, really, because I've lol had enough of that in my life. I am very mature for my age, probably +4 years that 20 years old. If I do talk to my doctor, she will ONLY say what the users on this tread are saying. They help me, and do it positively. They can not say anything negative, plus this is the only thing I have. My family doesn't support, motivated, or help in anyway. Without the tread I would be in a binge/purge session. It keeps me going, and helps me see all the health benifits from all the users who have lost weight the healthy way and are happy.

100lbs isn't healthy.

And you would probably need to lose muscle to get to that weight.

Do you want to lose weight or fat? I think 100lbs is impossible for you, unless you want to lose a ton of muscle.

Nasseny, I wanted to say I'm really impressed with your posts. You're trying to figure things out that you're unsure of, and you're really keeping an open mind about people's opinions and suggestions. Obviously take them at that and decide which ones make sense and which dont. I've heard of these anorexic type forums where everyone commends the participants for starvation and stuff, really weird and unhealthy. You're having the wisdom to come here, where most people aren't in such a rush to get the weight off that they want to resort to unhealthy measures to do so (or they've been there, done that and are older and wiser now).

I personally think you need to just chill out a bit about the weight issue. You've shown that you have the will power to stick to a plan, the willingness to listen to advice about how to best shape your weight loss plan, and even the smarts to re-think your weight goals. So how about you slow down, stop being so extreme, stop being in such a rush to get the weight off yesterday -- and instead realize that you can get the weight off in the end without doing anything unhealthy, without depriving yourself of energy, nutrition, and frankly the taste of some decadent food once in a while. By making small reasonable changes, rather than going to extremes, you WILL reach your goal soon enough but most importantly, you truly have a much better chance of keeping it off.

Also, the idea of adding a walk in the morning is a really good one. As a teenager I used to walk and ride my bike a few miles a day just getting around (I lived in the city so no rides anywhere). With that level of activity, and that age, I would take off weight rather quickly just making a few minor adjustments.

Nasseny - I think 120 would be in a healthier range. I'm running a little short on time this morning. But later I will find a weight/height chart for you. It takes into consideration if you are small, medium, or large frame. You can do this by clasping your middle finger and thumb around your wrist - if it overlaps: small, barely touches: medium, or doesn't touch at all: large. Then you go from there.

I think she is more than welcome to be here for support. There are a lot of teens and younger fighting obesity now - and if their family isn't supporting them, then who is?

I think that she should consult a dr. or dietitian to get the right recommendations for her, but I don't think that hanging around the forums is that bad for her. She was going to shoot for 100 lbs...eek! I think that she is doing what she needs to and you're really not supporting her with her weight loss efforts.

Ok well I hurried up and found a nice weight chart:

I think you are doing fine by coming here. If you have a chance, you should talk to a dietitian. And then go from there. One thing I think Steve forgot to mention (because he sometimes just gets right to the point of things), is that some advice is not worth a hill of beans. You should do some research (if you have the time.) That's what I do before I start any exercise routine or calorie reduction or any such thing.

You have to find what works for you. And my advice, instead of looking at the number on the scale, look to being as healthy as you can - which includes eating healthily (fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc.) and exercise. :)

Good luck! And we are all here for you just as much as we are here for the older folk. :D
:hug2:

When did I say she isn't welcomed here?

You didn't. You said she shouldn't be getting advice from a weight loss board. She is "welcome" to get advice here - just like anyone else is.
