I'm gonna need some help on this one...

Alright so I've been thinking about it a few days, and was wondering how the scale could show such significant change in weight in only 3 days? I realize is has something probably to do with fluids and digestion and what not, I'm just wondering how I'm going to be able to tell wether I'm actually losing, or just flushing it all out :p .

So any help from you all more medically attuned to this than I am, is greatly appriciated.

Alright, so I had no school on monday, so I wasn't up early to weigh in. I'll do it tomorrow for sure though (every monday and thursday).

Today was unfortunate. I ended up eating 3 cookies at lunch, and tagging a long with a bunch of buddies to Taco Bell. I know I went 1500 extra calories I absolutely did not need. Since I've been eating better recently, I can now feel how crappy this food actually makes me feel. I don't feel bad, really. But in a sense, I do.

I dno't like it. Which is good because next time it will make me think twice about eating poorly.

Gym day tomorrow, gonna be awesome.

Just glancing over your posts, its seems you get on the scale a good bit. I would watch that it might discourage you. I weight myself every week usually on an empty stomach.

Uhg...not real happy right now. I'm not doing something right.

I weighed in this morning.

230lbs.

This isn't going to work if I want to be down to 195 by summer. I don't know if I'm packin on muscle, or if I'm just adding on fat by eating now 4 meals a day...

I started exchanging a little lifting for more running. We'll see if that's helping by next week.

:(

Alright man, you posted on my Diary and asked me what my secret was. Consistancy. You have to keep your exercise up and you have to eat right almost everyday of the week. I would suggest posting your meals and exercise everyday, and only weight in once a week. That will give you a better idea of your progress by weighing in once a week, and by keeping up with your food and exercise, u can look back and see why you gained or lost that weight. I still weight alot more than you, so my advice might not be taken as well as someone who is 100 pound lighter than me, but I'm just telling you what I've been doing and it's working. Best of luck to ya, I'll be checkin up on ya from time to time.

Actually I find your advice to be taken a little better just because you've done something that is working. A lot of these guys were lucky enough t start off skinny and build from there. You and I are in a more difficult position.

I'm GOING to go running here in a bit. I HAVE to.

Well the last few days haven't been so good. My diet has been fine, but I am sick now...the last few days have been gorgeous, btu no running for me...

Oh well, I should be better tomorrow, and I'll weigh in and go to the gym.

Heh nice seems like your in about the same position as me. Try to get someone to do the workout with you. My friends are always lazy no one to go with me to the gym you gotta have a constant reminder almost of what motivates you to get where you want to get. I realized its way to hard to lose weight and gain muscle without supplements and not being really trained on how to do things. So I asked my self what i wanted more? muscle or being thin. Being thin isnt always cut out as it seems to be i dont want to be just skinny kid without any body compisition so I just started lifting and it seems like I have alot mor eenergy then i used to. Its just up to me when I want to start cardio..REALLY have almost no motivation for cardio it takes so long to do anything and i hate it when you have to do an exercise for like more then 5 minutes but ill get there. Good luck.

Well guys, weigh in today.

230lbs.

Didn't move from last week. :(

That's ok though, I reevaluated some of the things concerning my diet, and excersise, fixed some things, and now I'm on the fast track to skinny land!

No seriously though, I've set a new short term goal of 5lbs. off by my next weigh in. I believe this is attainable, and am going to work real hard at it. I figure aim high, and if I end up only losing 3, well hey that's still 3 lbs. gone!

So here goes nothing...

Ok guys, it's been a few day, and I'm having a rough time. I've been working on this body of mine for more than a month now. Now I never expected to be ripped in a months time or anything, but I figured I would at least see, and feel subtle changes...

Well I've been weighing myself every monday and what not, and I'm up another pound this week...

231.

I'm having a difficult time with motivation right now. Friday I ate some of those hot pockets, Taco Bell, Saturday I had more hot pockets, and a ton of pizza and other junk at a party. Sunday was super bowl, so I couldn't miss the chicken wings, tacos, chinese, chips, cheese ball, ect...

I'm so unhappy with myself, and on the verge of quitting...

I know I won't though, because I would rather give up a few of life's simple pleasures than be stuck with this body...

I'm kinda in a rut right now, and need a little motivation...

On a good note, I had a great workout yesturday, and will be going again tomorrow.

:(

The only person who can motivate you is you. You need to want this to happen or it won't happen.

You think you have love handles? Check out my photos at my link in my signature. Those are some love handles baby!

You know that eating taco bell and hot pockets won't help you so don't eat them. If the problem is that you are just starving and they are quick and easy to fix and eat in a hurry then you know what you have to work on. I am in the same boat as you but with a bit more to lose and a few more years against me.

I don't work out in the AM because I hate getting up early. I work out in the evening instead of playing World of Warcraft on my PC all night eating crap.

Also I think muscle weighs more than fat so your gain may be a good gain. You need to make sure that cardio is getting done (if not the fat will stay). You also should get your diet in check because I am sure that is not helping you.
Just my $0.02

Wow, im very impressed at how much motivation you guys have to even do what you do for a month! I know what I have to do cut down on eating, eat right and do cardio. It's harder then people say obvisously you guys know that, but im a college student so dont have all that good food to choose from and dont have time for cardio, Id rather be a fat smart kid then a lean dumb kid. So I have to balance this out somehow, I am getting better foods now but havnt jumped on cardio yet. Gmac I dont even have the balls to weigh my self, Im so scared that my weight is gonna go up I just dont look at it. I just do my own thing and if I feel I need to know cuz im either sucking it up or doing good ill hop on the scale. I can tell when im doing bad or doing good, staying around average is what it seems like I probably weighed my self about 5 weeks ago...I should weigh my self again heh :(

GMac try to remember your body will hit highs and lows, as it transforms itself it will make changes and you will see weight loss, then none, some gain, then none, then loss etc. By sticknig to your routine and your diet you WILL see the results.

Muscle is more dense than fat so in the samespace it weighs more. Don't just look at your weight, check some measurements also, waist, legs, arms, chest, etc. You may lose an inch on your belly and gain 2-3 pounds, nothing wrong there, those extra pounds of muscle will help you burn more calories down the road.

As for cheating, you have to make sure you can live with your diet. I have 1 cheat day a week (saturday) and for the most part in 4 weeks I have really only used it for mondo-steaks, so it wasnt really even cheating for me. This weekend I hit the pizza, 6 slices and a few dry ribs. Just watch your daily numbers and try to keep them in check.

I use my cheat day consumption as extra motivation in the gym for the week. "Damn pizza ...3... stupid dry ribs...4....".

The only person that can stop you from changing your body and your lifesyle is you, and I don't know about you but the fit person inside me is stronger than the unfit person that wants to eat the extra food, or not go to the gym.

Wow, words thats move you! Nice comments, cheat day makes sense just so you dont get to obsessed with that food just do it once a week. I never really looked at it that way where as you gain muscle but lose fat. I know that i have done that my mom always tells me to pull my pants up haha. Anyways i'm going to have to use this site as a real motivator!

So things haven't been too bad. Been watching the diet, and My weigh in was nice on thursday at 228. Puts me down to 15.8% or so body fat. Not bad. I'm aiming for 9 within the next few months. At least by school next year.

We'll see.

Well I lucked out on this last weigh in. Monday...

227 lbs.

I lost a pound, but I really shouldn't have. I haven't been to the gym in over a week now, but I also haven't eaten poorly.

I've also realized some things. I have come to realize why I want to look like the guy in my head.

It's about the confidence.

When I look in the mirror, I see someone who has been under-active his whole life, lacking the confidence he should have.

What I want is to become more secure about my physical being, so I can get some things done emotionally and psychlogically.

I want to be a radiat, in shape person, with a firm handshake, and just emits and aura of confidence.

And the first step comes with my body.

Should have known I couldn't keep up with something like this. Lucky for me though, I am able to keep up with my life change!

Things have been going well. I haven't missed a workout day this year, and I've made such great improvements, that I know have a workout buddy.

So things are going well. I know have a pretty specific goal.

I want to be under 10% BF by June 1st. I think I can do it. The weather is starting to warm up a bit, making getting out to run a lot easier.

I will update more eventually as I get more time.

So I was just looking at these pictures from the beginning of the year, and realized how much progress I have made. I am at about 226 right now, but my arms and chest are much larger, while my handles are a lot smaller. The pants don't fit well anymore, and I am even going to have to buy a smaller belt soon.

The weather is also starting to warm up, meaning lots of running for this guy.

I will post pics in a few months or so, when my gains are incredibly obvious.

This makes me feel good.
