I'm finally getting a new PC!!!! finally.

Hey, Day, aren't you a student?
Check with your college for student deals.
Also, I spent $520+ shipping for a PC that isn't assembled, and has no software, not even an OS.
IF you were to buy a similar assembled machine (maybe with a mouse and keyboard) with an OS, it would cost upwards of $1000, maybe even $1200. I know because I had a look around. Buying the parts and slapping them together yourself is the way to go if you feel like you can do it.

Don't HAVE to, but can certainly spend $1,000 (and up) on a dual-card setup.

Yeah I'd rather not hehe. I'm not a "graphics whore" like some fellas I know. The only kind of games that seem to have those ridiculous requirements are FPS's, which I LOATHE. Theyr're all the same crap. Bioshock is the only exception. I love the steampunk setting and gameplay! Though, I wouldn't mind being able to turn up anti aliasing on Fallout and Dragon's Age a few notches.

Monster, I'm getting my BA in May! Anyway I have a friend of a friend that builds computers so I think I can deal with it piecemeal.

Dammit.. I can't get my pc to start up.
I fucking triple checked all of the damn wires.
you have no idea how hot I am.
ON the plus side,.... i got a copy of window 7for free.
no Vista bullshit for me.
Although.. after pissing with it for 5 hours now, I swear to gosh that my f--king head is going to f--king explode.

Jumper settings. I've never understood why these things, the most fiddly part of a PC build for anyone without childs hands, are not a standard connection.

Check your Hard drive is set to 'master' and make sure your memory cards really 'clicked' right when you pressed them in. Sometimes they take a lot of weight.

It can be a real PITA to get it running the first go but patience and perseverence will always get the job done.

ok!
Thank GOD you're on.
the "sleep" LED is on, but nothing else will run.
I'll look at the jumpers, though.
thanks.

No luck with the jumper.. I must have missed a wire or something somewhere.
(also. I removed the battery and did the jumper thing after it failed to work the 1st time)

Okay.. I finally took it to the shop, and guess what?
A freaking 4 prong power jack on my motherboard was the fault.
I had the choice of inserting a 6 prong or an 8 prong power cord from the power source...
and I read online that you should just use the 6 prong, and let it hang over a bit.
WRONG.
I guess you're supposed to split the 8 plastic piece into 2. Who knew?
Well.. after realizing I actually did everything right, I felt better (expect for taking bad advise that is)
I'm so glad I don't have to mess around with sending back bad parts.
HALLELUJAH!

Maybe, but I saved $600 by getting myself thoroughly confused, even with a trip to the shop!
also.. NOTHING beats the pride of putting together a good machine.
Especially when you consider how much better of a machine you can build than HP or Dell.
Not only can beat their price by AT LEAST 30%, the parts you put into the machine are just better made.
....
I'm actually still working on it.... I bought a case fan at the repair shop, and didn't have the right size screws for it. (which I thought was quite weird, since 99% of computer electronics has a standard screw size, so used a couple zip ties.. hehe. now.. for the bios.

Hey folks...
I just a good pair of computer speakers from Walmart.....
Not the greatest, but loud...... nice and loud.
Maybe the best for the money though. 40 watts.. really nice and loud!
$64 bucks. Philips model # SPA7210
They also have good sound, no crackling or buzzing at full volume.
It's really a great deal for the price. Especially if you listen to a lot of music on your PC.

HOLY.. crap.... These are NOT the speakers I bought, but I would buy these because they look like LIGHTHOUSES!!! how cool are these?
(they are however over $150 bucks)
