This is more of a fitness challenge than a weight loss challenge and EVERYONE is welcome to join us :)


IcyStarCloud Challenge

Participants: little_star, CloudyMuffin, icychic, Verobc
and anyone else who wants to participate!
Time of the challenge: 5 weeks
Starts: Monday, September 30th.
Ends: Sunday, November 3rd
Workouts:
x 2, x 1 = TOTAL exercise 3 times a week! (, )
Rules: The participants will perform the workouts 3 times a week for 5 weeks on their own schedule. They will keep track of their progress (or failures... :p Let's hope not) in their diaries and/or on the Club Challenges post.

The ones that perform all the workouts planned and survive :p will be the winner.
Prize: Buy a gym pant and a 1 of "relax" after the challenge.

Personally, I will edit this post each time I workout and link it on my diary page. Everyone else can do the same, or alternatively post your progress in your own diary and link it here.

This is the "form" I will be using (thanks little_star), feel free to copy it or make your own.

Comments on the workouts (date/time, how I felt before, during, after):
1. Tues. Oct 1/13 Evening - ABS.
Did this workout right after work. I felt super tired all day cuz work was crazy and sucked with all the issues I had...but decided I must give it a try. Well yeah, first time I looked it was not even 10mins into it and I wanted to quit. I have really bad balance and am in really bad shape OMG!!! Did not complete all exercises the full length through, WAY too much rest, but I made sure I tried each one at least once the way they showed, though generally I couldn't do more than that (if even that) and either stopped or modified or did a completely different exercise (like for example regular crunches). Also my right knee was really cracking and then I guess my left one felt like out and joined in. Kind of concerning but ithey didn't hurt, so I guess I need to just warm up more perhaps and strengthen it and just watch for it. Halfway through I could feel my abs, thighs, and shoulders/arms burn. GAH! Also found my tailbone really hurts on some of those floor exercises...Not sure what to do with that cuz I remember it always being hard on me with those types of exercises like pullups. The second half was even more resting than the first :( Let's hope it's just cuz I felt low energy all day and perhaps tomorrow will be better.

2. Fri. Oct 4/13 Evening-Cardio.
Did the cardio this time. Workout was good, but damn I was already tired after the WARMUP! I took a lot of rests again today. Range of motion SUCKS, used to be way way better, but I'll get there. Can't wait until I can go without the extra rests. Side note: Need to find my old pants cuz these pants I have are NOT working. They are too loose (always were really..I think, but perhaps the elastic is also losing it's stretch) and fall down when I'm jumping around. Not cool! These 8 rounds SUCK! so hard! "1 done, 7 to go" I replied "eff off you suck!" LOL. Perhaps new runners too cuz I have good New Balance ones but my feet were hurting after the first set of 8. And they are a few years old too. Arms like jelly by the 3rd/4th set of pushups. Also hard on my knees when I do the half ones... Then I didn't have a kettlebell or dumbbell or anything so just did it without, or tried. it's weird! Always hated Kettlebell swings. After the 2nd round I gave up and forwarded through :( Next one I was shaking AAHHHH! And still hurts my tailbone. Wondering if I should have gotten a thicker mat? I feel I could have maybe gone harder, but maybe not. Energy I have, but the strength and endurance is not there. Knees hurt after the lunges too.
Overall I am sweating more than last time but I think I liked it more too, I could handle these better than the abs.
Side note: Was good I stayed late doing this workout. Stopped a few times to reply to emails for work, SO GLAD IT'S FRIDAY!
3. Wed. Oct 9th Evening Abs. Wow. I think I did better than last time, but my legs hurt before the flutter kicks so both those sets were extra rest for me LOL. Halfway through I wanted to quit but I didn't! I knew I'd hate myself so I kept saying, you're almost done and you will be glad you kept pushing! I still had an internal struggle but remember this weekend we have thanksgiving dinner at a friends, and next weekend we have his work thing and so I had to workout now to help make up for the bad stuff I was going to eat. But in the end, the jumping jacks started and I was done. So sadly did not do as much as I wanted, but I went really hard the first half so that's a plus! Just feeling light headed and almost nauseous so time to go home.
4. Thurs. Oct 10th Evening. Did Cardio today. I think I need to eat more and drink more water because again today I was low energy. Tired after the 1st workout. Forgot my runners at home too so was harder on my feet even with the mat. Knees were bugging me too so tried to be more careful with it and skipped some portions. Seems my muscles die before my endurance which sucks. I find I can catch my breath quickly but my muscles are still too pooched to go much harder LOL. At the halfway point I skipped to the cool down :( Disappointed in myself, but I did something which is better than nothing, right?
5. Tues. Oct 22nd evening. Did . Did substitute due to hurting knees, and quit early due to feet hurting, but I went hard and sweat. I can in the past few mins of posting on here feel my muscles burning so that's a good sign! As noted in my other posts, I do not have time right now to do the full workouts listed above, so instead I am looking for shorter workouts I can do in less time but still burn calories and get my muscles burning and work up a sweat.

Nope, just one more day :) but theoretically you could wait and do your workouts Friday, Saturday and, Sunday.

I'm kinda excited to start this whole thing especially after last night (will be posting in my journal later). Hoping I make it through the workouts still able to walk, or I should say drive home.

Don't worry Icychic! The beginning is ALWAYS hard. You will see it gets better. I was in the same your position one month ago when I did that workout for the fist time. :) It will get better if you stick with the plan, I promise!
 
Thanks :) I haven't given up and do not plan to. I think being on this forum and feeling accountable is really helping me not quit. I mean it would be easy enough to quit and stop coming on here, but I finally have a proper goal set and deadline and will be planning a wedding for the summer and I want to look damn good for that!

Spirit and ego are a little bruised LOL, but they'll heal. I WILL get better and I WILL keep trying and I will NOT give up. Thinking of trying the cardio one today. Hoping more water and perhaps more food today will help give me energy. Figure if I get done with the 3 workouts in a row then I can take it easier the rest of the week and do Jillian's 30 Day Shred or a different Fitness Blender workout or something else interesting I find on YouTube. Plus if I don't do the 3 workouts during the week, chances are slim to none I will get the time/privacy on the weekends so yeah. 3 days to do 2 workouts, and ideally I want to leave work on time Fridays.

Hey sorry for the delayed reply, I have already embarked on a different program (as you know, thanks for the encouragement in my journal). So, I do intend to derive motivation from the group challenges. It is like am surrounded by like minded people. Things are a win-win here at WLF.

On a different note, after I get comfortable with my all cardio schedule, I would love to try the ones you are doing right now. I have bookmarked the videos, maybe download them sometime just to be safe. They are outstanding. I am also looking at your track sheet updates (you know for day 1).

I think you are eagerly awaiting your next day of workout (and also not so eagerly awaiting DOMS to hit you).

The ones we are using, and MANY more, are actually on the Fitness Blender's website. All free! And you can search specific workouts there too with varying intensity and length and targeting.

I really like this challenge and think I will keep doing them. After this one is done, a new one will start with possibly different workout routines.

As for DOMS (had to look that up to figure out what you meant hehe), so far so good today. Though I'm sure it will hit, and probably hit hard.

On a side note, I was grumpy as all hell last night when I got home! Not sure why :( Perhaps upset with myself that I didn't go as hard as I could have. Will work on changing that today!
 
Icy, the first day was terrible for me as well. I actually got a bit demotivated because it was REALLY challenging and I realized I let myself go too much. I could not almost move. That was only 2 months ago. Doing 2 belly fat loss workout once a week became not a big deal and that is why we added the cardio for this challenge. If you stick with the plan, you will see results, guaranted. :)
And if after this challenge you want an other challenge, I can already say I am in!
Now I am off to exercise!!

Yay! How'd it go V? Did you do the Abs or Cardio?

I have done nothing since the first workout cuz life has gotten in my way :( But today so far is looking better, hopefully it stays that way and I get a workout in. Monday next week I don't think I can because I have made plans with friends to go over my wedding and my best friends wedding with our maid of honors, EEEEEEE!!!!!!!! :party:

BUT, if I do not get my 3rd workout done this week I will aim for 4 next to catch it up. Then again if today goes REALLY well, I just may close over lunch and do a workout then and another after work, BUT I doubt it LOL.
 
I would join this challenge, but I'm not fit enough yet... Maybe on the future? :)

Don't use that as an excuse. :( I haven't worked out in years really. I'm not even kidding. I am not fit in the least, as I proved with the first try at the workout. EPIC FAIL!

You should join us! Like little_star keeps telling me, she was dying when she was first doing these but it gets better over time. If you wait until you are "fit enough" you won't really need to do the workouts anymore.

This is definitely not going to be an easy challenge for me.

On the bright side seems the world is trying to make up for yesterday. Servers going down at 3pm PST (4pm my time) for 1 hour, so I can't do much during that time and it will be easy for me to take the last hour for a workout :) 1 hour to go, time to make sure I am properly caught up!
 
How is everyone doing? These workouts are really hard, I have "da details" in my diary.. It's only me posting on it now , I feel lonely xD
