I just ate a whole large Pizza... yuck!

Hey there.. I'm around 20-25 lbs overweight and I'm trying to put it off... since I came to college I've gained most of that weight...

I'm trying to eat healthy and I have healthy food in my fridge but every now and then I get this big pizza craving and I call the pizza place and order a large pizza and eat it all by myself. When I do it I know that I shouldn't be doing it, but I still do it. It feels like and addiction to it... I ate a whole pizza today and a whole pizza on Saturday... any advice?

Thanks.

Like others have said, you've got to make a sacrifice. The more you can resist it, the better. Soon, the urge will go away. Can you eat something poor every now and then? Sure, but do it in appropriate portions as well. If you get in a routine of eating better, and less, you won't want to overindulge yourself. You won't want to, and I'll bet you won't even be able to eat a whole pizza anymore.

The way I see it, as I'm in about the same situation you are(just starting back up eating healthy/working out again), I just think which I'd rather have. A good body(which is my goal), or that pizza. Honestly, the pizza hasn't come close to winning yet. I'm two weeks in and haven't cheated yet. Its all about desire. If you do want to set up say sunday as your cheat day, or rather cheat meal, you could have pizza in moderation for one meal. That should take care of your craving, AND not put you too far off of your target calorie intake.

what causes your cravings?

If you find yourself thinking about ordering a pizza stop and think what causes your craving. Are you upset? Are you stressed? Have you eaten too little up to that point in the day? Knowing the cause will help you combat your urge. If you really haven't had enough calories maybe a small pizza or a slice wouldn't be the end of the world. Especially if you blot the grease. In addition, the longer you stick to a healthy diet, the less appealing 'bad for you foods' become. I used to eat candy bars compulsively, but now when I see them they don't even seem appealing. I'd rather have grapes than a snickers. I've gotten so used to egg beaters that eggs seem almost too rich.

Like in life, the same is true for dieting: You MUST "Master yourself" to be successful.

There is no getting around it, you have to eat. And, there is no getting around it, if you deficit dieting and eat clean, your going to have cravings.
One MUST "have consciously aided intellect when dealing with the biological and mental cravings to EARN your goal". Learn to master them, as they are apart of you; this is the KEY to your success.

If you "whine" and give in on a consistant basis, it is a sure bet, your body is going to "whine" right back at you and give you a result that is consistant with your "whining". To be your goal, you must think and act according to your goal on a consistant and on-going basis, and likewise, your body will be consistant in rewarding the same.

You must "Master yourself" to reveal your inner and outer true power.

Lets face it folks: If you defict diet your body is going to "yell at you": it just doesnt like using "itself for energy", and likewise, if you overeat the body will "yell at you" by adding energy stores because it has "no current use for itself".

You must be the "Master of both disasters".

Let me throw in a comparison of sorts: During the concentraing camps during WWll, the Nazis gave the jews starvation levels of calories, and over time they became mere bones at these levels (and environmental factors).

What is the difference between YOU and the persons in the camps? Why is it more of a different type of difficulty? They had "No Choice", and you "have a choice", and there in itself is the main issue to become "master of".

If given no choice, it can be done. And, you must apply the same type of demand and become the "Master of choice"
