Leading up to Christmas: We decorate our house Thanksgiving weekend. Chop down our own tree the weekend after that, Have a gingerbread house making contest (every man for himself!) the weekend after that while watching as many christmas movies as we can handle.

Christmas Eve we always have church (cause my husband is a pastor lol), this is something we always did growing up too. Church is all about songs and candles on Christmas Eve and its awesome and beautiful. We spend the Eve with his family. The cousins pull names at Thanksgiving to exhange at Christmas and his side of the family does a "White Elephant" exchange with nice gifts (cause there are way too many of us to buy for everyone). Its more fun that way anyway, it can get brutal with the swapping and stuff :) and it takes longer. We have a big meal that night too. We then drive to my parents house and the kids put cookies out for Santa before bed. I do stockings with my mom (stockings are a BIG deal) and put presents under the tree and finish the touches with 2 BIG soot prints by the fireplace and leave some crumbs on the plate. In the morning I make "Monkey Bread" and hot chocolate and we start our time together with the Christmas Story from Luke in the Bible, singing christmas songs together and singing "happy birthday" to Jesus with a "baby jesus cake". Then we tear into the stockings and presents :)

The next morning we all wake up depressed, cause its over :( but not this year...cause we wake up the next morning and drive to DISNEYLAND for 3 happy days :D

Since my parents split up, we have a feast at my moms house on xmas eve. I mean a feast. Last year we had a 25 lb turkey for 5 people. After thats done, if we dont all pass out from the tryptophan and alcohol we open presents and go to midnight mass. Xmas morning we go out to my dads house. We always have a tree we cut down from our own property. He cooks a huge breakfast of eggs, pancakes, canadian bacon, american bacon, sausage, and grits. Then we all go around opening 1 present at a time. Taking pictures, letting my 3 year old brother play with the bows and ribbons. Then we play!

I have to watch Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolph every year and eat home made cookies with milk while I watch them. As of Christmas eve, we drive around and look at house decorations. There are a few subdivisions around here that have themes and sometimes they pass out candy canes to the kids as ppl pass through. On Christmas morning, we open gifts, eat breakfast, and then go to a relatives house and eat a big Christmas dinner and open more gifts. I love Christmas. :D
