Holiday Traditions

Ok, here is a less...contravercial topic. What do you do for the holidays? Are there any particular events you go to or places you go, things you do that you love?

We always go to church the night before, then put the kids to bed, after setting cookies and milk out for santa and carrotts for the reindeer. Then, hubby and I put on a movie or holiday music and start wrapping. He and I exchange one gift before we go to bed. We get up in the morning, read the story from the Bible, open gifts, go to hubby's dad's house, then back home and my "parents" and aunt and uncle come over in the evening for dinner and more gifts. The thing I like most is staying upon Christmas Eve and doing all the last minute things: cooking, wrapping, stockings, etc.

Well Its the middle of summer when christmas comes here. We all go to midnight mass on christmas eve our whole family 10 of us.

On Christmas morning we load up the cars and drive up to a beach thats about an hour away, we have lunch there me and my bros go round the rocks and collect Kina and Paua bring them back prepare them and cook them for tea. After tea we go for a surf off sting ray bay and then sleep on the beach under the stars over night. We are usually one of the only groups there and because we have a batch there we get first dibs.

Its a great day all in all.

Last year on Xmas eve I stayed at my mums.
Wake up xmas morning and we go for a walk round where my Nans ashes are.

The we do gifts, I drive to my Dads, open gifts,
then to grandads, open gifts, then I go to the gym.

Off to the girlfriends for dinner,

then meet up with the boys down the pub, get hammered and sleep sleep in the pub.

Boxing day. Wake up when the pub opens and get a massive fry up.
Drink untill no of us have any money, then go back to my house for an xbox competition. more food, more beer.

Fall asleep.

I hope this year will be the same!

THAT. SOUNDS. INCREDIBLE.

I usually just do homebody **** with my family. I pretty much never spend time with friends for the Holidays.

Really? Xmas is all about the pub in the UK.
You get the family in the pub, the kids are running round, the guys are playing pool, the old girls are singing Xmas songs and the Landlord is the most drunk SOB in the pub!

Dude you should come over here for Xmas! much better than sitting at the table for hours with your folks!

Sure.
Hell we'll have a fitness.com Xmas party (which we should do every year.)

We will do it at mine and Allens alternate years.

Growing up in an Italian family, one of my favorite traditions is Christmas Eve. We, as like most Italians, do not eat meat on Christmas eve, so it is all seafood! Clams, shrimp, calamari, bacala, smelts and crab legs. MMMM MMMM MMMM Add in the home made wine and you got one hell of a party. Then we go to midnight mass then is is back home to put the son to bed so Santa can come for his visit.

Oh wow! I didn't realize Italians never eat meat on Christmas Eve. Why is that? What is the significance of it? I hate fish so that would suck for me. LOL

Its cos they are saving it for the next day.

Man - crab legs, shrimp, calamari = Awesome. I'd like to see some tiger Praws in there as well.
Do you have dips? Come on man tell me about the dips!
What dips do you have? Do you have chilli dip? do you have garlic dips?!!!
I love dips!

We really don't have any traditions. Just getting together with family, putting my daughter to bed so we get out her presents. Don't have a fireplace, so we couple cookies and drink the milk to make it look like Santa was there.

LOL - When my sister was 6 she stopped believing in Santa so my dad got a pair of wellys got them all muddy, and walked round the house starting from the chimney!!!
