Sport High Fructuose Corn Syrup.... YAY! =D

Blech. Who has seen these new commercials? Hm? With that couple sitting in the park, and the girl offers him a Popsicle, and he's like "But honey, that has high fructose corn syrup..." And she's all happy and giggling and she's like "Silly, its made from all natural corn, lightly sweet, and is fine in moderation!" and then they both smile and eat Popsicles. So rejoice, everyone! High fructose corn syrup is delicious and all natural! HOORAY! Popsicles for all!

Paid for by the corn refiners of America.

EDIT: Just saw another one featuring that nasty neon red fruit punch. "It's all natural, has no artificial additives, its just as good as sugar!" Because, you know, sugar is really good for you...

I did see that commercial. It reminds me of Eve and the Garden of Eden when she temps Adam with the forbidden fruit. A little in moderation opened their eyes to sin and evil and the perfect world they lived in before the fruit was eaten was gone. Along with eating that fruit came pain in childbirth, pms and monthly torture. Okay, I know before everyone jumps down my throat I'm just trying to make an analogy using a story that most people are aware of. I hope I just made sense, but as far as HFCS, to the corn refiners of America I say thanks but no thanks

Oh, man. They're awful. Seriously, trying to market HFCS as 'not so bad' for you (they didn't even attempt good for you) is probably not the best strategy. I'm not sure what else got batted around the brainstorming sessions, but there had to be something better.

I've got the ad here, does anyone know of a way of uploading it onto the site without using YouTube (copyright issues)

LOL. i just went to that website and I was reading the benifits "enhances the flavor in foods such as yogurt". They don't tell you that it makes you want to eat more hmmm? HFCS was also deemed "generally safe" for use in foods. In moderation, i think not, you can do without it.

You realize that anything made from corn used to be considered pig slop in Germany? My relatives still don't eat anything made from corn.

I'm not sure that ad would be approved in Canada ... there aren't any beavers in it.

I think there is that sentiment in a lot of Europe

There was a research article released a month or so ago that discussed how the body processes fructose.

Apparently fructose bypasses the mechanism in the body that "tells" the sugar what it will be used for and goes directly to conversion of fat.

I have been fructose free since reading that.

You eat no fruit at all?

I'm wondering if you might have misunderstood the article you read, can you post a link to it?

Fructose is less likely to suppress appetite than other sugars making you capable of eating lots of it without feeling full but I don't understand why fructose would be stored immediately as fat

Fructose won't get stored directly as body fat once you eat it. That makes no sense at all. Fructose will fill up liver glycogen stores, if those are full, then it might get turned into fat (or used elsewhere, I'm not sure) just eat in a calorie deficit if you want to lose fat.

maybe you mean High-fructose corn syrup?

HFCS is alright in moderation. The keyword here is moderation. So remember, anything you eat or do in moderation is okay. From smoking to drinking to eat.... moderation is the key. It seems some people lack this concept of moderation.
