Help with losing weight

Hi ShadedSock, you are so wise for attempting to get an estimate at your age! Your only thirteen your mother can't and shouldn't expect you to have the knowledge of a doctor and dietician... Sometimes weight issues maybe repressing emotional problems making it difficult to loose weight, maybe find some artilces in regards to this subject to show to your mother?

It's good that your mother loves you. Just make her understand that for beginners like you there are many things need to follow to lose weight otherwise you may face with serious health problems. Go to any good dietitian, consult with him make a good diet plan with regular workouts which will help you to lose weight.

Loosing weight always seems like hard work because that's what we are led to believe by all the marketing out there. Actually, it just boils down to your own mind set. When you put your mind to something and take a blinkered view that you will be successful, the path just unravels itself. The main reason people have issues is purely mindset.
I can definitely say that hypnotherapy can help with this. It can help cement the idea and everything just falls into place and loosing weight doesn't seem to be a chore or hard work.

I would love to chat with you about what you're currently doing to lose weight. Taking a stand and making a chance now at age 13 is going to absolutely set you up for success in the long run and I am incredibly proud of you for doing that. I am involved with Project 10, and we have helped kids as young as 9 who suffer from obesity have amazing success easily and safely!

You need to have diet program which does not contain much fat and is low-calorie, You should not go without food yourself, but eat sensible food blends at frequent duration of time and monitor your calorie consumption....

I've been the weight I always wanted to be for 15 years and in hindsight I did everything wrong prior to the last 15 years. I started worrying about my weight when I was your age (13) and took any diet advice on board and this made everything complicated and I gained more weight. I always say now "It took me 10 years to lose 10 pounds" because I thought weight loss had to be hard and complicated. It doesn't!!! When I finally went back to eating 3 meals a day (that included fat to keep me full) and got busy doing the things I loved to do I lost the weight. If you start restricting calories and fat intake etc. your body slows down it's metabolism (Like a bear hibernating) and you gain (store) weight faster because your body is trying to keep you alive. Eat your 3 balanced meals with all the food groups and just make very subtle changes to your diet and you'll that little things make a big difference and you'll discover what you can eat and like to eat and a weight that matches that lifestyle. You have to do things you can do forever in order to find a weight you can keep forever too - but don't do anything dramatically because it will shock your body - just make small changes. It's like if you get up at 6 am one day - 1 am the next day and 9 am the next - your body will be jerked around and you'll feel terrible. Make subtle changes and your body will adjust and you will reach and maintain a healthy weight you are happy about!! Trust me - I went through 10 years of trying to lose weight and thinking it's hard and hating myself for what I thought wasn't discipline - dont' make it hard - just make little changes :) Kelly

I need some advice. I love my mom and we usually have a good relationship, but when it comes to weight, she just doesn't understand me. I want to go to a doctor to get an average weight estimate for someone who is my age and height, but my mom thinks that you can do everything yourself. She thinks that losing weight should be easy for someone my age, but I struggle so much.
consult with a dietitian and try to maintain a proper diet chart, include some natural fruits which help to reduce your weight.Garcinia cambogia is the best fruit for weight loss you can include it in you diet chart.

Hi Dear,
Follow this following things and definitely you will feel difference within a week.
Step 1: Measure your current weight.
Step 2: Wake up 6 am for a week.
Step 3: Drink lukewarm water with 2 tea spoon honey.
Step 4: Make your stomach clear and then go for 1miles fast running divide it in 500-500m's
Step 5: Take rest and try to being green for one week.

And next Monday you will find a big change.

There is pretty much nothing in this post that's not nonsense, and/or really bad advice. Well, step 1 might be good, but everything after that is just silly.

Weight Loss at age 13 is a difficult task. You must have diet which doesn't include much fat and have low Calorie. You shouldn't starve yourself, but eat heathy food combinations at regular periods of time and monitor your calories.Make a proper routine including excersise in daily work.

People who choose to reply to this thread should see that the OP has only made this one posting on the forum on 15th August last year and has not made another posting since... I can see that they have not visited the forum since they made this posting on the date that they joined the forum over 11 months ago - despite a number of people having replied to give advice...

I very much doubt whether replies will ever be seen.

You did not specify your age. But exercise is one option. Simple daily habits such as walking will do. In terms of diet, add healthy foods to your diet in place of the usual junk.

I think that you don't know about Honey with lukewarm water helps you to lose weight more effectively and their no side effect of it. As we are taking to teens then we need to take care of side effects of treatments too.
Thanks

Thanks for making my day, I don't wanna be vulgar, but this is a load of bullshit.

I think that I know that you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about. Honey with lukewarm water does NOTHING for weight loss. On the contrary, it adds unnecessary calories to your diet.

Give her a break.

Nope.

Almost everything she wrote was nonsense. The interval sprint is something that only very few people at the start of their weight loss are able to do, so even that was useless at best, and dangerous advice at worst. And negated by the other stuff anyway.

Hi there i'm only new to this forum thing so i dont know how others found your age out.My best advice would be to be very very very careful when it comes to weight loss at your age, your body is still growing and developing so the last thing you want to do is eat less.Eating healthy, exercising daily and just being active is your best bet,so long as you're doing these things then your doing alright.Being healthy is what you should be striving for then the weight loss should come,Hope this helps....

As a lot of members correctly pointed out, the main concern about weight loss at your age is that you're still growing. If you were to see a Registered Dietitian, one strategy the field uses is to maintain your weight while you are still growing and allow you to "grow into it", however it would really depend on what your BMI for age and weight for age are, and if we know that you are done growing or if you still have your growth plates in your bones.

The best things you can do on your own are practice good portion control and increase your activity as much as possible. The current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend an hour of activity for kids and teens daily, and 225 minutes(3 hours and 45 min) of moderate activity per week in order to lose significant amounts of weight. The MyPlate website gives good information on portion sizes and what is appropriate for your age. I hope that's some useful information!

This weight loss tips helped me a lot. This might help you as well :D
1. Don’t skip breakfast
Research shows that eating breakfast helps you control your weight. Some people skip breakfast as they think it will help them loose weight but missing meals doesn’t help us lose weight and isn’t good for us because we can miss out on essential nutrients. It could also encourage us to snack more throughout the day because you feel hungry’.*

2. Eat regular meals
Some people think missing meals will help them lose weight, but it has been shown that eating regularly during the day helps to burn calories at a faster rate as well as reduce the temptation to snack on foods high in fat and sugar.*

3. Eat plenty of fruit and veg
Fruit and veg are low in calories and fat and high in fibre – three essential ingredients for successful weight loss. They also contain plenty of vitamins and minerals..

4. Get more active
Studies show that regular activity is key to losing weight and keeping it off. As well as providing numerous health benefits, exercise can help burn off the excess calories you can't cut through diet alone.*

5. Drink plenty of water
People sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. You can end up consuming extra calories when a glass of water is really what you need. You should aim to drink about six to eight glasses (1.2 litres) of fluid, preferably water, every day – or more if it’s warm or you’re exercising.

6. Eat high-fibre foods
Foods containing lots of fibre will keep you feeling full for longer, which is perfect for losing weight. Fibre is only found in food from plants, such as fruit and veg, oats, wholegrain bread, brown rice and pasta, beans, peas and lentils.

7. Read food labels
Knowing how to read food labels can help you choose healthier options, and keep a check on the amount of calories, fat, salt and sugars you eat. Use the calorie information to work out how a particular food fits into your daily calorie allowance on the weight loss plan.

8. Use a smaller plate
Studies show that people who use smaller plates tend to eat smaller portions and still be satisfied. By eating with smaller plates and bowls, you may be able to gradually get used to eating smaller portions without going hungry. It takes about 20 minutes for the stomach to tell the brain it’s full, so eat slowly and stop eating before you feel full.

9. Don’t ban foods
Don’t ban any foods from your weight loss plan, especially the ones you like. Banning foods will only make you crave them more. There’s no reason you can’t enjoy the occasional treat as long as you stay within your daily calorie allowance.

10. Don't stock junk food
To avoid temptation, avoid stocking junk food, such as chocolate, biscuits, crisps and sweet fizzy drinks, at home. Instead, stock up on healthy snacks, such as fruit, unsalted rice cakes, oat cakes, unsalted or unsweetened popcorn and fruit juice.

11. Cut down on alcohol
Did you know a standard glass of wine can contain as many calories as a piece of chocolate, and a pint of lager has about the same calorie count as a packet of crisps? Over time, drinking too much can easily contribute to weight gain.*

12. Plan your meals
Plan your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the week, making sure you stick to your calorie allowance. Try to plan for four to seven days’ worth of meals and snacks. Make a shopping list, but don’t shop when you’re hungry as that can lead to high-calorie impulse buys!

Its true that losing weight is not so easy. You are young so i think proper diet plan and regular exercise is very helpful for you to lose weight, you can also try yoga it is very good for body and mind.
