Hello everyone, hope your all keeping safe. My name is Dean and I'm nearly 37 and I'm 6ft 1. I have been dieting for the last 3 weeks and have so far lost 8lbs. Started by lowering my food intake (Trying to find a balance) I was 22st 8lbs, I have recently started walking as of Monday 9th Nov. I am doing 5 miles a day minimum. Getting a minimum of 10,000 steps in a day. Although my eating habits are not perfect I am trying. I eat on a daily basis, 40g of plain Rice krispies(cheap version) with semi skimmed milk for breakfast, big bowl of lettuce, cucumber, grated carrot, sweetcorn, leafy greens, 2 boiled eggs and 1 pack of micro rice or 1 pack of noodles, and chicken and boiled veg for the evening. I use sauce on ny food as I dont like the taste of salad food. Is this sufficient for a decent weekly weight loss? Thanks alot

Depending on the amount of sauce you use that could be not enough or way too many calories. They can really add up so always check the nutritional info and measure them carefully. I would suggest adding the food you eat into a calculator (myfitnesspal and cronometer are popular ones you can use for free) for a couple of days and seeing where you end up.

Thanks for your reply, I will definitely change the sauce approach. Wither cut it out or switch to a low fat option and use it less. Thank you.

To be totally honest I have no clue. I dont know whether walking 5+ miles a day is good, I dont knowing the time I do it is right. I'm honestly clueless. I made a huge mistake of weighing this morning to see I'd gained 1lb even after all the walking. The weeks where I'd lost weight was practically zero exercise. So I'm a little bummed out. I really need to read up on everything.

Don´t be discouraged: new things take time to get right. From what you´ve told us that pound is likely water weight: sounds like your legs are working a lot harder than they´re used to and that makes your muscles store water until they get used to the new level of activity. Water´s heavy!
Here´s a link to a calculator that´ll not only tell you your bmi but also what a healthy daily calorie goal would be. Eating very little would make you lose weight more quickly short-term but it´s so hard to maintain and many people get binge urges when they go TOO low. I would suggest you start a diary here: https://weight-loss.fitness.com/forums/weight-loss-diary.9/ That way more people will see what you post and are likely to weigh in to support you with both information and just general motivation. Not to mention you´ll be able to see what other people are doing, what their struggles are, and how they deal with them.

good job I typed into youtube instead of following your links. Reported you for spam, your here to make money! Not to help anyone.

Nah dont worry. I'm overweight not daft. Its spam, for you to make money. Dont bother posting cos I'll just report it again. People are here trying to help and support each other and your here trying to take advantage of that.

Yeah, sadly that's a thing here. Any time you see a new member post videos or links it's very likely spam. The mods do their best but even with filters the onslaught is relentless.

We all live and learn. Just curious: what´s your profile pic from, the logo of a football club? I don´t watch sports so sorry if it´s something I´m supposed to recognize :)

Just purchased the 800 calorie diet recipe book from amazon. Will be here tomorrow to start on monday. Fingers crossed it works. I've got a new found discipline at the moment usually I'd stop with the healthy eating and exercise by now. I'm over losing only 1lbs, atleast it's not a gain. Hoping this 800 calorie diet will help me lose alot more more quickly.

It will, if you can keep it up. Pretty much all doets work if you can stick to them. What does your doctor say about superlow calories?

Hey LaMaria, I haven't spoken to my GP, it's a nightmare to get an appointment normally. Probably even worse now.

i would avoid anything that says "low fat". fat has a bad name, but it is better for you than what is typically substituted... sugar. you may not find the word "sugar" in the ingredients, but you can bet it is there. fat calories have twice the amount per gram, but the body's reaction to fat is much more gentle than the effect of most sugar. there are better fats than others and sometimes as a bonus you get fat's traveling buddy, cholesterol, but a dressing with a good vegetable oil base will be best thing you can use.

Thanks for your advice pal. I've been coping well without sauce. I will take a look at salad dressing options thou. Much appreciated.

I make my own vinaigrette with just a little extra virgin olive oil & it’s delicious. I use some balsamic vinegar, some white wine vinegar, seeded mustard, minced or fresh garlic, salt & pepper & only a little olive oil.
If you follow the 800 calorie diet book I would advise adding some extra veg for extra nutrition.
