Heart Rate Questions

No - not a workout really, unless I walk very fast. Sorry should have formed a better question. I mean because of my legs not being used to regular exercise, they hurt a little. So I don't want to be damaging muscle or anything if that's possible. :)

edit: sorry for the thread hi-jack.

It is no thread hijack-
I can have my legs be so terribly sore that it hurts to walk. Obviously I need to walk though. Infact, I need to bike to work. That is not a bad thing. I would not go running when I hurt that bad. I would not do squats. But yeah, unless walking feels like a workout than it is okay. A painful screamfest of soreness and agony does not qualify as a workout so it is okay. Meerly unpleasent

I did 1 minute 4mph, then 1 minute 8mph and repeated for 20 minutes. What a challenge but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Sweating big time though and about 400 calories in that time. My legs are sore, but it's a good sore...

Ken,

METs is metabolic equivalents. It's what most cardio machines measure activity in (and then you plug it into a formula for those that don't register calories burned). What you're doing is fine.
