Have been working out EVERYDAY and GAINED weight?!

It sometimes concerns me that we can be focussed so much on the numbers on the scales. It can mean different things for different people. Some people have more muscle etc.

What about measuring your body parts and watching your body shape. That would probably give you a better idea of if you are losing or where exactly on your body you are losing.

Just an idea.

I think that is a great idea and I got my measurements taken for the first time yesterday. I think inches AND weight are important. . . Well to me anyway. I will be tracking both from now on. Thanks so much :)

Ok, first off, Weight loss is a subject people are super sensitive about.

I think maybe kid gloves shouldn't be used AT ALL. If people are serious about it, it shouldn't be danced around. Brutal? perhaps, but honesty gets the job done, always has.

Secondly, counting calories is a chore, at first. After that, it's like second nature. You need to buy a digital scale. Secondly, use sites like calorieking.com caloriecount.com or even fitday.com to look up calories. It's a lot easier than you think, but yes, it takes getting used to. You could have weighed your chicken raw or even baked, those sites have those listing for chicken either cooked and raw, so it's a nice approach.

Eat about your body weight x 12 to see how many calories you should be eating daily, that will help you lose weight (x 15 is to maintain your weight).

If you ever think the scale is the best approach to seeing if you lost weight, read this post by Steve. http://weight-loss.fitness.com/befo...een-almost-after-pooh-style-3.html#post367219

BTW, you are taking Korrie all wrong, she has given you solid advice with the limited information you have given us. Reading the stickies is important, you would have found the same information I have given you by just reading some of those things.

I totally agree with you with kid gloves not being used at all but there is a definite difference between being assertive, straight forward, and blunt opposed to rude, mean, bitter, disrespectful, and hateful. Wouldn't you agree? Bluntness and not using kid gloves in not an excuse to not be a nice person. (even if this is just the internet)

I will check out those websites that you suggested, thanks so much. Oh, and I will also buy a scale.

About the stickies. . . are new members required to read EVERY single sticky on this website before we dare ask a question? I have read several stickies in the sections I have posted in and these questions weren't answered. When I have more time I will try to read every sticky on this website so I don't offend old members with my "ignorant" newbie questions. Lol.

All in all thanks so much for your help. Oh and I highly doubt I took Korrie the wrong way. She didn't give me ANY advice let alone "solid advice". I wasn't really talking about this thread I was referring to many replies of hers that I have read in the last few days.

I am not so sure that reading every sticky is necessary. Using the search function goes a long way however... using the same keywords you've used probably would have yielded similar threads (I usually use the ADVANCED search function to look at thread titles first).

This forum specifically states "Things Could Get NASTY!", and sometimes people take it to heart, I sure do. I feel that if something has been asked a dozen times in a dozen different ways in a few weeks span, it might be ok for the reply to suggest a SEARCH. This is after all, "our home", we know the traffic that comes through here. All that being said, if you let responses with decent information yet with a bit of rudeness throw you off from being here, than maybe weight loss isn't possible. That is a huge huge huge correlation state on my part too.

What I mean is... this is a tough thing for most people. If you need to be cuddled through it, a family member might be more appropriate, but if you can take GOOD criticisms along with GREAT advice, than you just might make your goals a reality. For years, I would come up with excuses, and dance around the statement "I'm not fat, it's my genetics" or something of that stupid variation. Until I realized people were beating up on me (like my family and even some of my students), I went into action. Dunno... I am speaking from personal experience, and it obviously differs. But I can only give advice based on my experiences, as I am not a professional in any way shape or form, still, people have related to me and my posts... "It's as if I were typing those words myself..." is a common response that I get.

Therefore, I treat others how I would have wanted to be treated... straight and to the point and with sternness that got me results. Plain and simple, it worked for me.

Search button! . . GREAT advice lol :) I didn't even know there WAS a search button.

I am going to lose my weight with or without this website. . . I hope you weren't implying that if I can't deal with the people on here then I am doomed in the weight loss area lol. I definitely don't need to be cuddled though this but I for damn sure won't hang around mean spirited people just for fun. I wouldn't give up on my goal if I left this website (I am sure there are several others anyway). I am here to relate to people in similar situations and I figured, hey why not ask a few questions along the way.

I like your responses. I also treat people how I would want to be treated.

Breezy, you're a cool person.

BTW, most of my "you" statements were pronouns and generalization, not really directed to you. I love that line "I am going to lose my weight with or without this website..." Just beautiful... best of luck to you. :)

;) Thanks hun.

Welcome to the forum Breezy :). I dont know why the scale went up, but I just wonder why you decided to stop working out merely because it could be causing an increase in weight on the scale. Since the increase would be due to muscle, and I believe your weight concern stems from excess fat, I would think you wouldn't mind an increase related to lifting weights. You actually lose muscle mass from dieting so it may help you retain your "tone" and not end up one of those thin but flabby squishy types. Best of luck on your fitness journey.

Oh no, I didn't stop working out. That is how it made me feel but I still pressed forward. I totally agree, I do NOT want to be one of those thin an flabby women lol.
