Weight-Loss Halloween Challange:House on Weightloss Hill

Weight-Loss
One more thing...

I finished the 13.1 mile marathon on Sunday in 3 hours and 44 minutes. Whoo hoo!!

Only thing is, is that I injured myself jogging downhill and messed up the cartilage in my right knee. Now I am on crutches for a little while. The last 3 miles were painful, the last mile was so painful I nearly threw up, but I couldn't quit with only a mile to go!!! Once I crossed the finish line, I could no longer put weight on my right leg, it was rough.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can work out without my right leg? It takes me 5 minutes to climb 3 stairs it hurts so bad.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I know I can lift some hand weights, but need more ideas.

Have a great week everyone!

I saw an exercise show on PBS once for people in wheelchairs...maybe something like that. You could always use the exercise bikes the wrong way like my sister & I used to get into trouble doing as kids. We would lean on the seat & peddle with our hands... if that makes any sense...well it doesn't really.

Anyway hope you are back up to normal soon.

CONGRATS on crossing that finish line!

So sorry about your knee. :hug2: your time was awesome, though!! I am really impressed--especially b/c of how much pain you went through to finish. That is somthing to be proud of--I probably would've quit.:)

As to how you can exercise while on crutches, I would ask Steve. He can probably help you out. ;)

Hey teamies, Although I haven't been able to get online much, I have been keeping my stats posted etc... I just haven't been able to show you all the support :(.

I am working hard and best I can with my eating and everything.
Right now I am basically living out of a hospital and making the best choices I can.

On Sunday, my daughters boyfriend overdosed he is in ICU on a ventilator.
Currently the machine is providing 100 % of his breathing. Everyone is basically living out of the ICU waiting room. I am Working out each day..(I defiently need that for my sanity right now)

I will keep in touch as much as possible. I agoplogize for my lack of support as of late.

Angie

Crazybabie, sounds like you are spreading enough support around to your family. I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I think the fact that you continue to update your stats & are taking care of yourself is great. I appreciate that even through all the chaos you are thinking of your team still. Thank you.

Good luck with your daughter's boyfriend. I hope he recovers fast & is able to find a place where he is happy & never goes through this again. You and your family are in my thoughts.

OH NO! What did he overdose on? I will keep him in my prayers.

I am not 100 % positive. I do know that in his truck the police found traces of marijuana (drug test showed neg. on this some how)
Powdered hydrocodone.....klonopin and cocaine. I had no clue he was doing drugs..otherwise he defiently would not have been her BF...

He was actually dead on Sunday. His grandmother decided not to go out to eat after church. he is very luck...she came and found him and did CPR while the ambulance was coming.

Thanks, for the prayers :hug2:

Hi everyone!

I was able to do some workouts by default. Good ideas Moon about the wheelchair exercises. All I can say is that my body feels like the marathon never ended! lol Seriously though, most of me is better, except for the knee.

So far the doc said it could be one of two things, either "runners knee" or a "stress fracture."

I looked up both symptoms, and they both look possible. The xrays didn't show anything major going on inside the knee, good news! I just wish the pain would stop!!! I want to run, skip, walk, exercise, all the things I took for granted.

This is our last week of the challenge. Good luck everyone!

Is he actually going to recover from that? How long was he dead? How aweful!!!!

He's lucky Grandma was home. whew!

Missjellybelly...I am so glad that your knee is going to be ok. I totally know what you mean about taking things for granted. (Every day things)

Update on Steven.

He was taken off the vent. today..he is using a small amount of oxygen, mainly breathing on his own though.
They are hoping to have him walking on a walker to get too the restroom and back within a few days. right now we are still going day by day.

He can talk since the tube has been removed and seems to have more muscle control than was first thought. no matter the end he is one very lucky kid.

Thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes. I will continue to keep you updated.
