Gotta keep trying, eh?

Hey Mreik! Long time no....type.

Actually Andy, I DO get to wear those pants, and the button up shirt thingy too. I'll post a picture when I get my sweet new duds. If you want to read my dream, it's on . As for weekend challenges...well the usual. Fast food and alcohol. But so far, so good. I've completely stayed away from fast food and limited alcohol to two or three drinks if we go out. Which is usually just once. If we go out twice, I just offer to be the driver. It works out well because if you offer a few times, then you pretty much get your choice when not to be the driver. :)

Anyway I just finished my workout. It's new, and with freeweights, and I did it at home. Sara helped me with it, and it feels good so far! I only had two ten lb dumbells, which was perfect for most exercises, but a few were too easy, so I'll have to go get some bigger ones.

Pros of working out at home:
I don't have to walk in the cold.
I can do it whenever I want.
No one is looking at me.
I don't lose my place if I stop to drink water.

Cons:
I feel like I didn't actually workout because I didn't physically go to the gym.

I'm sure I'll get over that.

Anyway here's the workout for those interested, and if anyone has suggestions on reps, please let me know, I just did 3x12 for everything. Oh and everything is at 20lbs.:

Squats
Deadlifts - too easy, more weight next time
Lying rows
Bench press - too easy
Ball crunches - had a hard time finding a good spot on the ball...looked pretty silly
Side bends

Anyway, time to get some more water, get in the shower, and get some food digested before it's time to dance the night away!

Very interesting dream. It would take a month to try to uncover all the hidden meaning. Like slowly unpeeling the world's largest onion.

I only work out in the gym. I know that there are huge advantages to working out at home, but I like the atmosphere (I go to a gym called Planet Fatness...I mean Planet Fitness).

It is awesome that you have someone to help you with your exercises. I learn via trial and error (probably stemming from my Alpha Male Pride refusing to ask for assistance).

I don't know much about the culinary trade (Wendy's is about as exotic as I get)...are you going to specialize in a particular kind of food, or be more of a "general chef" (for lack of a better term)? Maybe Gordon Ramsey can stop by and rip you a new one for his show.

I don't think I mentioned this, but I'm going to culinary school in May.

Anyway, I just registered so now I am an official culinary student with official classes :).

Now I just have to go get one of those goofy hats.

At least you're not an official culinary student with unofficial classes. Props to you for taking the steps to the career (I believe) of your dreams.

The sun was low as it was DAWN; Kitty YAWNED. The sun rose in the sky with much BRAWN and Kitty looked over at her shadow on the LAWN and realized she has just SPAWNED a FAWN on her LAWN.

Soon the sun had WITHDRAWN and to Kitty's surprise instead of a grassy imprant of FAWN it was really a SWAN.

Well since I decided to lift MWF, this is the second day in a row I'm not doing weight training, and I feel kinda lazy. Actually I'm still sore. I hope I'll be 'un-sore' enough to keep going again on Monday. I will definitely at least try.

I've been eating well, the only straying I did was that fudge round...(yes, I'm still hung up on that stupid snack cake) but I don't think my weight is going anywhere this week. I've been trying to eat more because I don't think I was eating enough the previous week. My body was tired and my mind was tired. I feel a lot more energy this week, but I don't feel any lighter.

Maybe my body is just adjusting after too much deficit and it'll start to get back on track soon.

Maybe my body is getting used to getting a bunch of protein.

Maybe I'm just making excuses.

Either way I feel better, so if the scale doesn't move tomorrow, we'll use the fact that I feel better and I feel stronger, and keeping chipping away!

I thought of this the other day. My options are it happens slow or it doesn't happen at all.

If I have to pick one of those, I pick the former.

Have a good Sunday everyone!

Who's a good kitty! ...sorry, I just... :D

When all you gotta keep is strong, move along move along, like I know you do.
And even when your hope is gone, move along move along, just to make it through.
Move along! :SaiyanSmilie_anim:

Ok, I disappeared.

The weekend went pretty well, a few drinks on Friday night, but lots of dancing.

Yesterday was not good. My cousin was in town and we ate out at Texas Roadhouse. I ordered grilled shrimp, which came with rice, and I got salad and grilled veggies for my two sides. I guess I didn't order that badly, at least better than I would have in the past, but I ate quite a lot. Half of the shrimp, a bit of the rice, all the veggies and salad, plus some of the peanuts they give you on the table, and two rolls.

The thing was after that we went to Wal Mart and I was FULL of energy. Ha.

This morning I was late for this class that I haven't even been to yet, and I didn't want to come in on week three for the first time late, so I didn't have time for breakfast. However, I knew that I still should eat breakfast so I grabbed a V8, then I remembered I was supposed to be eating protein so I stole one of my roommate's string cheeses. I think I'm gonna hardboil some eggs to have on hand.

Anyway I also didn't work out, so I think I'll do that about....right now.

Later!

OH! I almost forgot!

Weigh in yesterday......165.5! Da da da daaahh! I was hoping for at least one pound...so that's 50% better, haha.

1.5 lbs is progress, and progress is good.

Chippin away, chippin away....

Starting - 175
1/14/08 - 172
1/21/08 - 167
1/28/08 - 165.5

Good Job!!! Sunday I grilled up a bunch of chicken, prepped four cans of tuna, chopped up salad stuff - so in the morning I can grab and go!! And for breakfast I've been doing cottage cheese - its the easiest thing! I thought prepping for the week would take an insane amount of time but it only took an hour!!

Ok I need to get with the program.

I haven't been terrible.

But I haven't been good either.

I guess also it's only been like two days.

Anyway yesterday's workout:

3X12@20

Squats
Dead lifts
Bent over rows (@10 for each arm)
Bench presses
Ball crunches
Side bends

I really need to get to the store and get some heavier weights for teh bench pressezzz.

That was yesterday. Hopefully today I will get some cardio in, it's still really cold but I was thinking about getting my bike out. Oh who am I kidding, I'm a wimp and it's 12 degrees.

I got a new cookbook at the used book store! Which is nothing new...I love cookbooks, especially from the used book store. But this one has nutrition facts!

weeeeeellll- I haven't been good! But I will try harder at some point!

12 is a bit chilly for a bike. Your nose will run, and then you will get sick.

be smart

FF

Yeah I thought about that, wind in my face and all. I think I'll wait on the bike thing. I'm just itching to ride it! I love riding my bike, I used to do it all the time, and reading some of the other cycling member's posts is making me antsy.

Stationary cycling is the shiz, yo. I've never watched so many movies in my life. Plus the girlfriend seems willing to accept it as quality time. Often, the sheer boredom of my workday compels me to hop on and gitterdun. In fact, now would probably be a good time. Two birds with one stone? More like 4. :D

But I feel ya on the weather. Can't wait till these record colds **** off. I mean, seriously, where's Global Warming at, Al Gore. EVERYBODY DRIVE MORE AND LEAVE THE LIGHTS ON ALL THE TIME, IT'S TOO COLD OUT HEEAHH. But, uh, yeah, I'd love to get outside for a change. There are some lovely parks hereabouts. :)

I love cottage cheese and I love new books and I love WEDNESDAYS!

I'm so glad cottage cheese blends with fruit so well. It gives me a nice delicious protein to combine with my fruits that I love so dearly.

I will not eat my roommate's Doritos......

So I was applying for a job and right in the middle of the questionnaire part I get this question:
"There are seven days in a week. True or False?"

I was like, seriously!? Is this supposed to throw me off or something? Or are they actually asking this?

I answered true, I hope it wasn't a trick question. If I get hired I'm gonna ask about it.

Dang, almost made me want some Doritos, haha.

Might be kind of a trick question. What about work weeks? Haha, could it be a way to get you to work weekends?

Yeah I thought of that, but there were other questions later like, "There are 80 days in a month," and, "Can you read well enough to complete this questionnaire?" So I don't know, maybe they were just trying to weed out people.

No, she is.

That's just because her fiber intake is low :D
