Sport Good/bad fats

Sport Fitness
Be careful if you have a genetic tendency to heart disease or high LDL blood cholesterol levels. Saturated fat raises both LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol, but LDL (the bad kind) more.

(Trans fats or hydrogenated oils are worse, raising LDL while lowering HDL.)

Heart disease and high blood pressure runs through the family

I eat a good amount of saturated fat, mostly from eggs ( sometimes i have 4-6 a day ), and peanut butter (Don't eat too much red-meat, just because its easier to cook chicken ), and I am still healthy and my cholestrol levels are perfect. Probably because I consistently exercise with a good amount of intensity.

But who knows...maybe it will catch up with me in the future.

There is a good article on healthy fat . What people call fat around their belly is actually adipose tissue.

In eggs, only 1/3 of the fat is saturated, while in peanut butter, it is less than 1/3 of the fat that is saturated. Both contain larger amounts of unsaturated fats that tend to lower LDL levels somewhat. Red meat tends to have a higher proportion of fat that is saturated, as does dairy fat (cream, butter). Dairy fat and coconut / palm oils also contain a relatively high percentage of myristic acid, which is considered the most atherogenic of the saturated fats.

Basically it appears that your intake of saturated fats does not include so much of the worst variety, and it perhaps being counterbalanced by high intake of unsaturated fats, so it may not be wise to conclude that saturated fat intake by itself is necessarily harmless. Exercise and avoiding excess body fat also helps.

Damn. Guess I didn't eat as much saturated fat as I thought. I eat a lot of fat, just not that much saturated it seems to appear.

Nice guys, keep them going, and consuming olive oil...
