Glucosamine

I imagine that the extent of the injury/pain is going to effect whether or not the supplement will help.

Now that I think about it... I've had a problem with my left hand for going on 2 years now. It randomly cramps up at times, particularly my pinky and ring fingers, it's not horrible pain but it's just a burden sometimes like when working. While reading some of these responses, I just realized the pain seems to have subsided since taking GC. I'm probably jinxing myself by saying all of this, but regardless it does feel better.

Yeah....well that and you wheel a Jeep ;)

Tic:

1) Arthritis of what? for how long and how severe?

2) What's the cause of your arthritis?

Sorry for the long delay in response. My knee boths me a little whenever I finish playing 3-4 hours of basketball that evening and the few days; however when I do take glucosamine + chondritin, it speeds up the recovery to only a day. I doubt this is arthritis but just that I am getting old from wear and tear.

However, my right hand (knuckle actually) locks up every once in awhile. Recently the joint underneath the right index knuckle seemed to be stiff and bothers me during yoga and right after I bench press or curl. Since I have taken glucosamine + chondritin, I barely feel it anymore. This was caused by poor anger management as a youth.

I bought this for my mother a few years ago but she had to discontinue it as it was interferring with her diabetic medicine. When she was on it, one of her stiff finger actually started to function almost normal again.

Thanks for asking Matt. Btw, I take only 2-3 of these pills a week at most but more like 6-8 a month.

Yea I had asked how much to take and someone told me to read the bottle. However, there is nothing on the bottle that gives directions.

Do you think that is the right amount?

So far I have taken 2 in the first two days I have had it, but if I keep that up it won't last too long..plus they aren't the easiest pills to swallow haha...

thanks for any help again

Ha, you must be a 'Yota guy? :costumed3:

My Jeep does exactly what I need it to do, I wouldn't drive anything else :D

Hummer, H2

I used to offroad it quite a bit, even started a club and had some great fun. Each vehicle has it's advantages and disadvantages and it cracks me up when owners take such extreme pride in something they didn't design, build, engineer, manufacture or do anything more then plop down money for. Lotta fun, lotta paint scratches.....

I had a Jeep Cherokee for about 12 years....all-around best vehicle I ever owned. It was just a 4-cylinder with a 4-speed, but it got great mileage and it was super-functional...served me very well before I upgraded to this massive gas-guzzling sorry excuse for a vehicle! ;)

I would probably take 1-2 a day until the pain goes away or 2 weeks; whichever comes first. If it doesn't help / work, maybe it just does not work for you. Yeah, those bad boys looks like they are designed for horses.

Ok so lately I've been having an increasingly difficult time taking pills, I have NO idea why, but each time it seems to get harder.

I took my first few Glucosamine tablets down, but now I just can't seem to get myself to swallow them for the life of me.

Is it ok if I crush it up and mix it in some water you think?

Thanks for any help.

I guess you can crush it; personally I pop vitamen and supplements lots so dont' have this issue. I think crushed medicine taste awful.

Yeah....I think I know what the problem is.

Being that I am Jewish, I think I have the right to self depricate my own people....so here it goes: an inability to swallow is something genetically passed down from each Jewish mother to her daughter, it's in the DNA.

Now, from your avatar I gather you're a dude.....but, somehow the genetic inability to swallow could have somehow been passed down to you as well.

Oh yeah.....that just happened.

Hahah thanks for that, I'm pretty sure that's not it though. Im just going to go with the crushing it up method for now.

BSL, Wow... do you work for south park? Do you like Fish sticks, man?

Btw, that was hilarious.

Blatantly offensive, overtly disgusting and entirely obnoxious, but yes....it has it humoristic merits, thanks! :D

But now for some real info:

Some pills are time-released and you should not crush them. Mucinex, a decongestant/expectorant would be a good example...the pill is designed to slowly dissolve in your stomach and release a steady-strem of the medication over a 12-hour period. Other such drugs will indicate that the pills should not be crushed or broken.

Most supplements and vitamins are not that way...so you should be find. I will add that I believe it best to assimilate such nutrients over time rather then all at once. As example, my calcium & glucosamine suggest 2 capsules as a serving-size....instead of taking 2, I'll take one with lunch and another with breakfast....figuring there's no sense to overwhelming the kidneys/liver and digestive tract with an over abundance of nutrient.

Ts'all good :D

Oh I've got you beat. My Jeep is an "H2 Recovery Vehicle" :D

Haha cracks me up when I see Jeeps with that sticker. And yes, I agree 100% about people taking such sides with their brand/model of rig. I get Yota driving guys around town all the time yelling "Drive a Yota!" IMO, if it works for you that's all that matters!

Cherokees are great IMO and I wouldn't mind one. but the uni-body kills them for off roading... the 4 cyl's are tough, I've got it in my Wrangler and I beat on it good sometimes, and still get 17+ with 35's :)

Anyway, enough thread whoring now...

It's just a sticker.....

I love the mentality these offroad goons have.....if you don't get stuck you aren't pushing it enough and trying difficult stuff...and if you do get stuck, your rig is a POS. There is ALWAYS a rig that'll have more clearance or better dynamics to suit a certain situation, but at some point you have to trailer it...it's all give & take.

I should tell you about the time the Land Rover club invited me to join them for a jaunt in the mountains. About 45 of them, one of me...and relentless teasing. It was a mellow road except for a few off-shoot climbs, one of which none of them could make and 3 almost lost it...the H2 cake-walked it, twice and went half-way up backwards. Wide track, short approach & departure angles...plus those LR's are narrow and lean something awful, doesn't take much to beat 'em. But I recognize I just had the right dimensions to make it work, that and choosing the right line and letting the 4x4 system work properly. You gotta love it when a tire starts to slip and the driver just hits the gas and digs-in even more....so much driver error it's ridiculous! :D

Oh no....you can never thread whore enough! :D
