I made a topic asking about people who lost without the gym, which ended up 50/50 and abit sidetracked as all i needed to know was simply that and not about building muscle ...

that said i mention that i am heading to the gym, so for the gym people that are doing weight traning to build and sculpt musle, how soon did you see results, some people i know personally are telling me the say toning of the arms as early as the first day :toetap05:

please shed some light

What are you planning on doing at the gym?

have you read thru the stickies to give yourself a good plan and foundation to start with?

results are really totally personal based on the person... Soreness doesn't equal a fabulous workout... toning is a byproduct of fat loss... Unless you're eating in caloric surplus you aren't going to be putting on muscle mass..

i read a few ,, not really seeing timelines, just routines...

I wanna tone arms chest legs. dont wanna be bulky, just a nice conservative tone ...

I want to hit the gym Jan 09 hopefully

You will only get 'bulky' if you are in a calorie surplus and are lifting VERY heavy weights. You make it sound like gaining muscle is easy? I can tell you it is the opposite of easy.

You say you want to 'tone'.

'Toning' basically means losing fat whilst retaining your muscle.

The best way to do this is make sure you are eating adequate protein (about 1g per lb of lean body mass) and incorporate a resistance traning routine.
This DOESNT have to be at the gym.
You can just do purely body weight exercises, google it.
But doing it at the gym is much much easier.
I suggest getting a personal training session and work out a routine, and the personal trainer can help you with all the exercises.

I am not sure why you are 'waiting' until January to go to the gym? That sounds a little strange...

I understand that you might not have access to a gym until January, but that doesn't mean you can not incorporate some sort of resistance training into your workout.

Pushups, Pull Ups, Squats, Dips, Lunges, Burpees are all great exercises that require no equipment at all.
