Geovicsha's Diary - New Years Resolution.

Also, today is a month since I started my diary here on the Weight loss forums. Damn, that was one long month. But yet, at the same time it feels like yesterday about starting it. Re-reading over my first diary entries it's interesting to see where I have now developed habits and where my failures were.

Hi Shannon

Congratulations on the new low
and on making it into the 180s.

:party::party::party:

See how much weight you have lost, how your BMI has improved and how much healthier you are after just a month. You have achieved a lot.

Take care
Best wishes
Margaret

Diet

Today was a bit of a guilty day. It was my friends 20th which included dinner out and subsequently to a pub. Soberness and myself at a pub do not go hand in hand, and thus this will be tricky. Before even attending the pub I decided to have 3-4 (rather than 12-15) beers and drink them in moderation and throughout the night. I've always had this plan to enjoy things in moderation.

Mission accomplished. However, I had a weak moment where I went to purchase my 5th beer. After purchasing it I looked at it and realised I simply don't want this and I am having a fun enough night sober and without the need for excessive beer.

I therefore gave the beer I purchased to a friend, shouting him as he had no money. It felt great not only to resist temptation but to also show generosity to my friend.

I didn't need so many drinks anyway, the energy I had was unbelievable. I've never soberly experienced that in a pub in my life. Wanting to dance when sober is not me, I have to be very drunk. I was dancing for ages, heart beating, an exercise of its own.

With the energy, came the confidence. It was unbelievable, I would usually second think things through but I was so happy and confident talking to everyone, both my male friends and girls.

One friend that is a girl was asking "Have you lost weight? You look so much skinnier?" I still don't really see it, but I guess it's much like hair growth and it's hard to notice at a gradual basis. She was amazed at how much I've changed, I was flattered.

Another girl that I know kept flirting with me and tried dancing and dirty dancing with me, something before my weight loss I can guarantee wouldn't occur.

The barmaid flirted with me and gave me one of my beers for half price.

And finally, a girl I've always found very attractive I talked to tonight and in the end kissed.

I'm not trying to sound up myself, I don't consider myself attractive nor do I feel my main motivation for weight loss is to talk to girls. No. It's to get healthier. And I still feel the confidence I showed due to the weight loss was as important as the weight loss itself tonight when being confronted by girls.

Or I'm just analyzing things too much.

After the pub my friend and I were play fighting, another form of confidence which might have not been the best idea. But another form of exercise. I've just had so much energy!

Due to the beers and half a steak I do not expect a weight loss tomorrow, but I am so more proud and focused on the fact I restricted myself to four in such an environment and was successfully able to gain confidence.

Breakfast
Oatmeal - 112 cals
One banana - 138 cals
1/2 glass of skin milk - 42 cals
Total: 292 cals

Lunch
Two tomato and lettuce sandwiches, wholegrain - 350 cals (I only had two slices and cut them in half but had a bit more lettuce and tomato than usual!)
Total: 350 cals

Snacks
Four beers - 440 cals
Total: 440 cals

Dinner
Lettuce - 12 cals
Tomato - 15 cals
Cucumber - 20 cals
Steak, rare - 450 cals (I ate half of it. It was one of the worst steaks I have had, I asked for medium rare and got rare and I was feeling sick. Due to not eating it all it might be a bit less than 450 cals.)

Water
3 litres+

Grand Total: 1,579 cals

Exercise

Normal Walking

Steps: 8,018
Distance: 5.051km
Calories burnt: 240.8 cals

Pub exercise

I never thought such a headline would exist. But it did. Dancing, jumping around and play fighting all boosting my heart and were forms of cardio... and very fun too. It deserves a mention.

Thanks for reading guys,
Shannon

Surprising after steak and four beers last night, but another new low of:

85.3kg/188.1lb

What the hell!? Whoo!

One thing I've noticed, with many people who try to lose weight, they attempt to stop eating and resist cravings. I feel I'm slightly different. I rarely at breakfast and never ate lunch, and only had one big dinner, thus I would have been under < 1000 cals many days, except the times I binge in McDonalds and beer.

I've never eaten this much consistently since I was a kid.

Two new lows in one day, keep in mind this is after my jog/walk but before my dinner. It's still great to see new lows:

85.0kg / 187.4lb :D:D:D

You're telling me! But with the amount of sodium and the fact I didn't have wholegrain spaghetti for dinner tonight, I expect a weight gain.

Power walking / Jogging

I did the most jogging I have ever done since this started, I found a bit of an oval to jog on instead of power walking down a street. Thus why my steps are down a bit.

I read somewhere though it's not healthy to power walk / jog / power walk and the heart rate should rise slowly, be at its peak in the middle then slow down once again. Although I guess that idea does contradict Steve's HITT (which I haven't ruled out of doing in the near future)

Anyone have any light to share on the subject?

Steps: 7,500

Everyone have a good day,

Hey Shannon, good to see you doing so well. I don't know which is better, but I have had several trainers have me doing interval training bringing the heartbeat up and then down again.

Not the best day today when it came to both my diet and my exercise.

Diet

A friend and I went to another friends house today to have a bit of a swim. My visiting friend ad I were asked by my other friends parents if we wanted a chicken parmigiana (processed and/or fried chicken, melted cheese, tomato and ham... very tasty and one of the things I quit).

We both said no but he insisted on making us one saying "I was going to make six anyway so I don't want any to go to waste." I continued to say no and he goes "I'll make you one just in case."

An hour or so later we are given our plates and I (much to my annoyance) get my plate too, meaning he went to all the trouble. He then insisted I eat it and I was starting to feel really rude. It pissed me off on his constant insisting. (Don't get me wrong, he's a very nice man, but still.... he made me feel so guilty after cooking it and being in his household)

I feel like shouting in anger. Don't get me wrong, I like to treat myself on a rare occasion and not feel guilty about it, but:

1) I didn't want to treat myself after having a few beers on Saturday.
2) Parmigiana's are usually very bad for you (although I had a small) and I don't even like them anymore and make me feel sick.
3) I felt like I was guilt-tripped and now feel guilty about doing so.

Breakfast
Oatmeal - 112 cals
One banana - 138 cals
1/2 glass of skim milk - 42 cals
Total: 292 cals

Lunch
Tomato and lettuce sandwich, wholegrain - 350 cals (only having one sandwich until I find lower calorie bread)
One apple - 75 cals
Total: 425 cals

Snacks
One Go Natural peach and apple 100% fruit bar - 95 cals
Total: 95 cals

Dinner
Chicken Parmigiana - 670 cals (HIGH IN SODIUM, CARBS AND FAT)
Total: 670 cals

Water
2.5 litres

Grand Total: 1,482 cals (At least I stayed within a reasonable calorie limit)

Exercise

Normal Walking

Crap. Utter crap. All I did was sit and relax in a pool. I only usd the pool for a bit of exercise.

Steps: 1,951
Distance: 1.229km
Calories burnt: 69 cals

Bleh.

Hope everyone had a better day than I,
Shannon.

On the (oddly) upside I just weighed myself before I go to bed and a new low of 84.9kg.

Why do my new lows usually show when I don't have the best (or in this case shit) day? Hmmm.

Hey Shannon, good to see you doing so well. I don't know which is better, but I have had several trainers have me doing interval training bringing the heartbeat up and then down again.

Thanks Cannon, you seem to be doing fantastic yourself. I don't know how I could live without weighing myself during weight loss, but I guess what you love can also be what destroys you.

Ah, so my jogging/power walking/jogging repetition would be defined as interval training? Bit of a newbie when it comes to this stuff still, although it has been over a month now since I commenced. We are all still learning every day. :)

Look like a perfectly healthy day! way to go!

Thanks Jillzy, that day was fantastic in comparison to today's. But hey, we all have our bad days and are good. The only success I can get out of eating a chicken parmigiana is realising it wasn't all that good, and despite a minor setback the race isn't over yet. ;)

I'm moving for Uni in like a week and I've written a checklist of what to do, a lot of stuff to do. Grrrr. Haha.

Been so busy packing, cleaning and preparing for my move which has become much more of a priority lately.

Hey Shannon. Just thought I'd stop in and say hello :)

Seems like you keep very good track of your foods and calories you eat everyday, which I think is the perfect way to guarantee weight loss.

I read that you lost your mother to lung cancer in 2001. I also lost my mother to lung cancer in 2001, I was a bit older though, 18. Sorry to hear that. Very hard to go through.
