Food Diary

11/09/05

I have to stop buying the dark chocolate bars at whole foods because I can't keep it to the small peice here and there like I thought I could. In addition to my menu yesterday I had three peice of chocolate, totally 119 calories. But I did exercise again. I ran 2 miles, walked 4 and did some arm work with weights (2 pds....don't want to gain a lot of muscle) and lunges, kicks and leg lifts. Tonight I think it's going to rain so I will do cardio indoors and some stomach and waist work. I still feel like I should be loosing faster than I am. I may have dropped a small amount of weight...but I can't be sure. I weigh the same as I always do in the morning (125), but I used to weigh closer to 130 by the end of the day and now I maintain the same weight all day (125). I find it odd....you'd think I'd weigh less in the morning too. Has to be a step in the right direction, though. I think my clothes are starting to fit slightly better, but it's barely noticable. My little vacation may have set me back a bit further than I thought.

I think the estimates run a bit high, but I'd rather figure I'm eating more than less. I think diet attempts in the past have been thwarted by my under figuring calories. I think my vitamins have some calories as well...but I figure if they aren't listed, then I'm not counting them.

I was so tired when I got home last night. I had an appt after work and then went shoe shopping. I finally found a pair of good black boots for the winter so I'm happy about that. I ate dinner and fell asleep on the couch for a while. Which did work a bit in my favor since I didn't eat my evening snack, but I did not exercise. I'll have to take today off too because I have another wine class tonight and won't have time. I don't have anything to do Friday night except a chiropractor appt so I'll exercise after that to get my three sessions in. I can always do something on the weekend too.

I hope I don't lose motivation between today and Friday when I'll be able to exercise again. Seems to me if I take a few days off in a row I get thrown from my schedule. I have an appt early on Saturday and I wish I didn't have to go...at least I can sleep in on Sunday.

I went shopping on my lunch and was so hungry when I got back. I went by the cafeteria to get my salad and I didn't have any cash...and I didn't feel like walking back to the ATM so I ate a bunch of snacks in my drawer at my desk. I feel soo full and gross. If I just have a protein shake tonight for dinner I'll be back on track with calories, but will be very hungry tonight. I'm going to try and do that and then not have any crackers or cheese at the wine class tonight...just try the wines. I hate feeling like this!!! So disappointed in myself for the lack on control and for being so lazy that I couldn't walk to the ATM. Anyway, I'm starting again...right now.

I've actually heard that dark chocolate is good for you. Maybe you should buy the little Hershey kisses dark chocolate and allow yourself one a day. That way you're not over doing it, I think one kiss is 25 calories and you're helping your heart :)

11/11/05

That is a good idea about the chocolate kisses....perhaps if they are already wrapped up in their own little serving size I could stick to one or two. I didn't even realize they had dark chocolate kisses. Maybe a trip to CVS at lunch is in order.

Tonight I plan to go for my run as well...or do something inside if the weather is poor. Either way I'd like to have my three sessions in before the weekend so I won't feel pressured to exercise in addition to all the chores I have to do (vaccuming, shopping, scrubbing, various appts....I think I'm finally at the age where my weekends aren't mine anymore and I don't even have kids).

Have a nice weekend and everyone be good!

11/14/05

Well...the weekend wasn't a total wash, but I sure could have done better. Friday I was very tired and didn't do any exercises, but I didn't really eat much to speak of after work. I had my two appts, I came home, did a few chores and pretty much fell asleep on the couch. Saturday I had an appt in the morning, did some shopping and chores and went for a walk. I rented a movie and that was about it. Sunday I finished the rest of the chores, looked at a few houses with a realtor (I'm actually not buying, but have a strange obsession with looking at what's for sale). I went out for dinner with my boyfriend...and I was good. I had a vegetarian wrap (ate 1/2), a side salad with balsamic vinegrette and a glass of red wine. I'm trying ot be more catious of the things I wasn't paying attention to...like what I eat when I go out to restaurants. Anyway, here's the menu for today:

Breakfast
Puree and almonds-240
Seed Crackers-120

Snack

I usually have a couple of coffees (1/2 decaf) and a decaf tea or two. I was supposed to go to the movies with a girl friend tonight (derailed...looks so good), but I might bag it because I have appts T-Th and a dinner and movie date on Friday this week. I'd like to have one night where I can definitely exercise. I don't know why I book my schedule so full...there is really no reason to. I like the idea of being busy then I resent it when I actually am very busy.

I went to see Derailed yesterday. So good. Everyone see it. I still did everything I planned to do too...I walked to the common (about .75 mile), ran for 2 miles and then walk home (long way, 1 mile). I did arm and stomach exercises as well. I also did some shopping and bought a few new things for work. Seems all my winter clothes disappear between seasons. Anyway, I noticed when I wnet shopping that clothes are definitely fitting me better! I think I've made some headway even though I don't notice it much on the numbers on the scale.

It's a bit low because I went a bit higher in calories yesterday. I made some changes to the original menu (I'll update that post). I'm having more fruit and veggies today too because I didn't have that many yesterday.
Tonight I'm getting a massage...something about Polarity. Not sure what that means, but I'm looking forward to it. I feel very tight. Having appts after work does keep me out of trouble. Anyway, I plan to go home, have the protein shake, put on my workout clothes, go for the massage (5:30-6:30) and then go running after that. When I get home I'll have my supper. Have a good night.

Oh...my sister says it's just called a steamer. I like it because it's quick and you don't have to use the microwave (which zaps a lot of nutrients out of your veggies). Best to eat raw when you can though...that way you get the full benefit from the food and don't need to eat as much to get your vitamins/nutrients. I once read somewhere that Americans are overweight because we're eating foods that have little or no nutritional value because they are over processed, overcooked or refined and our body craves more because we aren't getting what we need from the foods we eat. This made so much sense to me.

Had another good night last night. I pretty much stuck to my menu plan and I went for my run...did all the chores, but was too tired to do any strength training exercises. I'm getting sick. I can feel it. I hate being sick. It's so hard to wake up in the morning and it's hard to keep up with my diet plans. Lasd night I did okay. My appt was great and I got to watch some tv and relax. I felt that I needed the night off. Tonight I have a facial and I plan to still exercise after that. If I don't get home until late I will just do some basic cardio indoors and some stomach and leg work. Tomorrow I won't be able to do anything because I'm meeting friends for dinner and a movie (Walk the Line) after work. That looks good. I'm excited to see it. This weekend my boyfriend turns 30 and I've arranged a small dinner party (14) at a nice restaurant in town. Some of these people I haven't seen in years (nor has he so it will be a big surprise). I realy wanted to look my best. The last time some of these people saw me I was closer to 115 and now I'll be 10 pounds more! I suppose at least I have boobs now. I'm a bit nervous....I even bought new clothes that I couldn't afford (and charged them...I wasn't supposed to use my credit card anymore as I'm trying to pay it off!).

I am going to my hairdresser at lunch so she can trim my bangs. I have to get them trimmed between regular cuts or they get too long. I feel like I have a lot of stuff to do before Saturday. And now this stupid cold!

Had a lunch meeting today and they served pizza. I helped myself to two cheese slices. UGG!!
I already changed my menu plan. It's actually less calories if I can stick to it....I just know this pizza will make me feel sick throughout the day, though. It sits in your stomach like a brick. Especially the type of dough they use here. I regret it every time I eat it.

Hey Sweetie havent seen you in here in a while and I know you said you thought you were getting sick. I hope you are well. Have a good day Sweetie.

11/21/05
It made me happy when I saw you checked in, Julie. That was really sweet and made me smile this morning. Thank you!! My cold came out full force over the weekend. I had a few drinks at dinner on Friday and again on Saturday. I even smoked a cigarette when a few people went out. I quit 4 years ago and since then I've had one here and there. So by Sunday I wasn't doing so well. I lost my voice and have a small temp (I think) since my eyes are burning. I had to come to work because I don't have any sick time left. I always use up my days before I really need them. I'm hoping to get out of here early, though. This cold (oddly) is making me very hungry. Today I stopped at Au Bon Pain for my coffee and I noticed I was earlier than usual (I took the train when I usually walk). So I helped myself to eggs (a huge pile), homefries and, get this, a sausage! I don't even eat meat. I don't know why I ate it. I just had this strong urge. Anyway, needless to say, I'm not feeling very well right now. I also try not to eat dairy so the huge heaping pile of scrambled eggs (made with milk, I"m sure) didn't help either.
I plan to try and fast for the rest of the day except for fruit, water and juice. I think it will help with my cold for my body not to waste all it's energy on digestion. I will let you know how I feel tomorrow.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Hey Sweetie dont get discouraged about your breakfast, if you dont feel well and you were hungry chances are your body needed that food. My mom always told me when she was alive. You have to feed a cold...LOL, dont know if thats true but it must of been if my mom said it. Anyways Darlin hope you get feeling better make sure you get some rest at some point too, basically take care of yourself and I hope you get feeling better. You will be in my thoughts.

Good Mornin Darlin. I hope you got out of work early yesterday and got some much needed, much deserved rest. How you feeling this morning? Hope things are better I hate that you havent been feeling good. Your in my thoughts. Hope you have a good day Sweetie!

Julie,
Thanks for poking in again....I had to take yesterday off. This cold was viscious! I think I'm out of the woods, but have been so busy all day I haven't had time to do anything...including eat lunch! I won't be able to write again until Monday, 11/28. I will just have to try my hardest to stick to a healthy diet. It can be hard over the holidays!

I know that's a bit low, but I had a hard time over the weekend and my few sick days sticking to a healthy diet. I was too tired to make anything and kept eating sandwiches and stuff...really not my plan before the holidays!

HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING!

I know that's way low, but

Hey sweetie hope you are feeling better now I know this cold is getting everyone right now. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving regardless. Have a good day today Sweetie!

11/28/05

I loved that card! haha. Too funny. I had a great Thanksgiving. I tried not to eat too much, but you know how it goes...I went home feeling very sick as I do every year. Thankfully I had no appetite the next day so I'm sure it worked out. My pants even feel a bit looser than usual today. I forgot to weigh myself this morning, but will do it tomorrow. I suspect I may have dropped a bit more. I had my high school reunion this past Saturday (10 years, UGG!) and thought I was 18 again...turns out it's not a good idea all these years later to have soo many beers. Knew I was in trouble when I found out it was at a bar that doesn't even serve food. It was fun, but I barely moved from the couch yesterday. I have a lot of cleaning to do tonight so I may not run. Plus, in keeping my high school persona, I took up smoking for the evening and, no, it didn't help my cold and sore throat.

Hope everyone had a great holiday. I'll be poking around to see any updates. Sorry if I don't get a chance to write to anyone. I've got lots of work over the next two weeks and might be too busy to do much here (I'm giving my notice today...I accepted a new position with another company on Friday...yikes).
Thanks for everyone's support. It really does help, funny as it is...just knowing other people are trying to do the same thing and can see your progress and updates helps to keep me motivated. Everyone here is so friendly and supportive and I've found this to be a very rewarding experience. glad I stumbled on this website. And you can't beat the price!
