First Day of Working ever.

Glad to see you understand what your folks have been doing for you. You'll soon get to the point where not having a job is just plain weird. It seems like there is nothing to do.

I too, like FF, got my start at Popeyes fried chicken. It was in 1984 in Tulsa. Not a bad job, managers were cool and I a little extra cash to do what I wanted. Glad to see you are hanging in there for now. You can always look for another job and get hired before you quit McD's. So, if you aren't happy, go that route. Good luck!

I'm sure you could get a higher paying job though? Maybe $8 an hour? Would save you a lot of time. Plus you may be able to get a promotion or something if you work in a supermarket. My friends brothers a part time floor manager. He gets £8.50 per hour.

I had so many interviews and no one would hire me. I tried working at a grocery store and the interviewer was like "sorry, you don't have enough work experience". I was like....WTF? Experience for bagging ****! LOL

So I got fed up with all the bull, so I decided to try a place I would guarnteed to be hired; and thats where I am now haha!

Question: I already have worked 40 hours this week. So if I work tommorow does that mean I get overtime pay? And how much more is overtime pay?

Well you started late but it doesnt seem to have harmed your work ethics at all well done man.

I started pumping gas when I was 12 havent stopped working since.

jman...you're making me feel OLD.

Dare to dream. Bring in the power! Bring in the Passion and make it Happen.

Silent dreams! Hear the internal music, close your eyes, feel its rhythm!

Grab a hold of it.

Feeeeeeeel its passion.

Let the floor rumble your feet and let it rip your socks off! ;)

The power and rattle of a self-earthquake----------->ROCKS!

Meh, I started full time right after my first year of college ended. I started at 9$/hr and now am at about 16-17$/hr...I have been working for them for 5 years.

I started when I was 19 and am now 24. I paid a flimsy 400$ for college...just to show you what 5 years can do...keep at it, you'll get there. Mind you I'm not really working at a place I want to work for the rest of my life...that's why I study with ISSA...keep your eyes peeled man I'm sure you are worth way more than 6.25$/hr

;)

Did 40 hours of work this week Sunday-Thursday each 8 hours. I came in to work this morning and the manager was like "David you got 40 hours this week man, go on home, come here Sunday".

Our work week starts Sunday; would of been nice to make 8 hours of overtime pay but they don't like paying overtime apparently.

Of course they don't and also i assume you work during the day and unless you're in the middle of a shopping mall, there arn't many people going to McD's between those hours anyway.

Jman, you can have my job if you want. I work in a high-end fitness equipment store, and this is the time of the year where people don't want to spend money on high-end fitness equipment. Although it has its perks: talk on this forum, read up on S&C, and I have access to all the squat racks and free weights.
