Favourite Weight Loss Food?

Just wondering what peoples diet foods are. These would be foods that fit into a healthy diet program. (Snickers bars and alcohol omitted)

So I made up some questions:

In the past month...

What food item did you eat most often? (ie number of occasions)

What food item did you eat the most of?
(weight or volume compared to your other foods)

What is your favourite diet food and why?

And I am going to go first! lol

What food item did you eat most often? Oatmeal (approx 31 cups this past month)

What food item did you eat the most of? Oatmeal
(see above lol)

What is your favourite diet food and why? Chicken...(boneless skinless) It can be eaten a number of ways and is my most normal diet food.

What food item did you eat most often? Steel cut oats (every morning)

What food item did you eat the most of? Steel cut oats

What is your favourite diet food and why? Steel cut oats, and vegetables of all kinds, zucchini in particular. I use a spiral slicer to make zucchini "pasta" which makes for an awesome low-cal dinner. I'm all about anything that's filling, high fiber, and healthy.

What food item did you eat most often? Eggs or bananas. I eat about 10-12 eggs a week, and maybe 5-6 bananas.

What food item did you eat the most of? Since it weighs 8 pounds a gallon, I'm going with water.

What is your favorite diet food and why? Bacon. It is the most delicious thing ever. This morning I made bacon pancakes (where you make long thin pancakes and push the bacon into the batter while it's cooking) and 2 days ago I made bacon chocolate chip cookies (one of my friends is still stupefied by their existence).
Why is bacon my favorite diet food? Because I don't eat diet food. I eat food I like in smaller smarter portions.

What food item did you eat most often? Vegetables

What food item did you eat the most of? Oatmeal

What is your favourite diet food and why? Chicken, though not necessarily a "diet" food, it can be if it's prepared right. I love chicken because you can do so many different things with it and I never get bored with it. Oh yah, and Protein rocks!

What food item did you eat most often? Craisins (dried cranberries) I eat 'em when I get hunger pangs...which happens throughout the day lol.

What food item did you eat the most of? Yogurt, I have it every morning before heading out.

What is your favourite diet food and why? Red delicious apples yummy! I'll eat between 1-2 a day. I'm really big on convenient foods, I can be just plain lazy when it comes to making something for myself.

In the past month...

What food item did you eat most often? (ie number of occasions) - Apples,Baby Carrots, and Greek Yogurt

What food item did you eat the most of? (weight or volume compared to your other foods) - Chicken Breast

What is your favourite diet food and why? - Chicken Breast because you can bake, grill it, sautee it. Very versatile.

Nuts. I pretty much snack on them every day.

Not sure. As a class, it's probably fruit. Interesting that nobody has listed vegetables, which is what we are supposed to be eating most of.
What is your favourite diet food and why?
Several candidates. Buttermilk because I like it and it's an alternative to sugary drinks. Homemade garden salsa because it hardly has any calories, counts towards my vegetable quota, and spices up the bland food we often eat on a diet, like baked chicken breast. Wild raspberries. They're ripe now. 8 grams of fiber in a cup for only 64 calories.

What food item did you eat most often?
Oatmeal every day and lately Gazpacho every evening
What food item did you eat the most of?
Same as above
What is your favourite diet food and why?
Salmon. I love it fresh, canned, smoked whatever and eat it at least 4 times a week. I also like sugar free orange squash to add to water as it is the only way I can get lots of water down me

I listed vegetables as what I eat most often. :) Five days a week my lunches and my snacks consist of almost nothing but vegetables.

I love almonds ... costco has some awesome baked almonds that i keep in my car ... mmmm. But, on a consistent basis, definitely spinach. I have some sort of spinach salad pretty much every day, sometimes twice a day and I put spinach in scrambled eggs, stir fry ... pretty much everything I can think of.

Apples. (Mainly Pink Lady or Jazz apples as these have been on offer).

Apples. Although steamed french green beans come in a close second.

Any vegetables!
OK, I like bulk- I just like to eat for the sake of eating and if I am not watching myself with the upmost control, I will just eat and eat and eat... I have learned to love vegetables (the green ones such as broccoli, green beans...etc). I am lucky to have likened to this taste and really do love to eat vegetables! Just steamed with a little salt and I'm happy!

In the summer its really nice to BBQ veg and cook things like Corgettes, Aubegines and Peppers. If I am feeling really flush, drizzle with a little balsamic vinegar mixed with Cider Vinegar.

However right at the moment I am trying to cut down on what I eat- I really badly want to lose weight! I don't think my brain realises there are calories in vegetables or fruit so to limit myself I am only allowing myself one variety of fruit and one variety of vegetables. This mimimises the damage I think! Probably not the healthiest thing to do but there are worse evils out there.

I have to ask, what on earth is "Gazpacho"? :)

OMG, you must try it! Gazpacho is tomato soup, served cold, and done right is absolutely delightful. It is full of awesome.

Hmmm Cold tomato soup - sounds...interesting. lol Is there anything special in it or is it just tomato?

Edit- Oh never mind, I finally saw the recipe link under your post. I'll check it out. :)

Gazpacho is delicious. I drink almost a litre of it every night instead of a meal and it leaves me stuffed at 200 calories. We can buy it here ready made in litre bottles which it is so convenient. The recipe shown looks a bit time consuming but all I do when I make it is liquidize all the ingredients together and then sieve out the bits or sometimes just leave them in.
It's nice served up in a bowl with bits of tomato, cucumber onion and bread chopped up very small and sprinkled on the top as well as a couple of ice cubes. A glass of it drunk before a meal really stops you eating so much as it is so filling.
When I make it I use tomatoes, red and green peppers, cucumber, onion, garlic and sometimes bread crumbs and also a bit of water to get the right consistency. Then add salt, pepper and vinegar to taste. It should really have olive oil also but I don't put it in now. The tomatoes need to be really ripe and juicy for it to work properly.
Try it and I gaurantee that you will make it often.

That sounds great! Do you leave the tomatoes, peppers, etc "chunky" or do you puree them in a blender?

They are pureed and if necessary water added to make it totally drinkable. There isn't really any one set recipe for this everybody has their own take on it. You might want to sieve out the tomato skins and pips before you eat/ drink it. I always peel the cucumber first and sometimes remove the skins from the tomatoes before pureeing.

Sweet, thank you. I'm definitely going to try this. It's odd that so many of you know about this soup and I've never heard of it, maybe it's a regional thing. lol

I plan on making this today as I have all the ingredients in the house. Hopefully I'll get it right the first time *crosses fingers*.

i love this whether i'm trying to eat healthy or not. but you have to follow the directions for ideal consistency:

take 1 cup frozen blueberries (80 cal) and mix with 1/2 cup of Source yogurt (40 cal). I love the coconut+pineapple yogurt myself.

let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes.

because the berries are so cold, the yogurt will freeze to them and the berries will thaw a bit, becoming a bit sweeter.

eat like ice cream.

except the same amount of ice cream would have 375 cal or so instead of 120, and wouldn't provide you with nearly the nutritional value.
