Fat Loss for Idiots- 11 day diet

hmm, well here are my two cents.

It's great to see something is motivating you, a little success can go a long way. What I do think is that if you are only eating ham and walnuts, how are you getting your daily nutritional value?

It's nice to see it's working for you and many detox like diets are great for eliminating toxins and getting rid of some weight while giving you a well needed energy boost. Fad diets as such also have a placebic effect. Y'know, like "okay this works! this is what I have to do then"..but keep in mind it's timespan is for a reason. So, yea glad to see it's working, it may be good for someone on a plateau. I don't know, I don't wish to try it myself. I find that just eating healthy and exercising is working for me. Everyone here is NOT trying to knock you down from your high.

Many people on here have been there, done that..(ehem, made a thread for it too) So when they offer their words to you, it's not always to offend. It appeared that everyone was just trying to offer their say of caution. Fad diets don't keep the weight off. Hard work does. You can't skimp, sorry.

Anyways good luck in your journey toward weight loss, I really hope you find a safer plan.

MLucky seems to utterly ignore all the advice that she is given lol. Seems like shes absolutely determined that this 'diet' WILL work. Can't change those people's minds, they have to fall in the pit on their own for them to learn their lesson.

And a question that was failed to be answered was: WHAT are you going to do once/IF you lose the weight you want? If you STOP doing this 'diet' word for word, you'll gain the weight back. Is this a 'diet' that you feel that you can follow for the rest of your life? If NOT, it's obviously not the road you wanna take.

Thanks kitt
I see your point but i havent dieted or exercised in years. I never really had to but i want to get in shape. My eating patterns have always been eratic due to my schedule. I dont have a lot of time to sit down and eat. This plan is good for me because its structured and i feel like having some meat and nuts is better than a bowl of sice or something else full of carbs and fat.
Unfortunatly i used to eat just one large meal a day and some small bits of things in between. I never prepared my meals the night before so there was no other time to eat.
On this diet i feel much healthier and less hungry. It gives me the motivation to drink all the suggested water and exercise every single day.
Maybe its not good for long term but when i stop eating from this diet "word for word" i will still drink all the water, exercise, and try to eat smaller meals throughout the day. I am learning better choices and even if it is a fad diet i think my body will benifit from it and so will my mindset.

I appreciate your words of caution but i am going to see how it goes.

And your right, this diet does not give me the daily nutritional value i should get every day. But the choices they limit us to are way better than the choices i have made in the past. When i made that statement i had fad diets like the grapefruit diet in mind where a lot of the weightloss is starvation and if you did it for a long period of time you would feel sick. I think i could do this for the duration of my weightloss without hurting my body.

If you haven't tried it, please dont talk.
I hate to be so blunt, but thats wins the "stupid reply of the day" award.

Just because you havn't tried something doesn't mean that comman sence is less effective. I havn't tried drugs or alcohol, does that mean that my belief that those things are bad for your body is wrong?? Absolutely not.

The KEY of long term weight loss...and thats what we are all here for, no? the KEY to it is having a "diet" that you CAN continue on for LIFE. It has been prooven time and time again that fad diets DO NOT work LONG TERM. Period. I know you've been doing this diet for a whopping 9 pds now and thats great. But I think the YEARS of successful weight loss that Mal has achieved certainly gives her some grounds for her opinion...weither she's tried the diet or not.

:willy_nilly:jeez, why is this turning into a big argument. This thread's purpose is for people who are interested or have been on the 11 day diet, to discuss how it is. No one can say we are going to fail. And it is rude. If you have something to say against this diet there are nicer ways to say it as one can find in h34vy's post.
Obviously we want to try the diet. maybe not forever, but we want to lose weight and this is the route we have chosen. We researched, we read, and we decided that it is worth a try, so please let us try. If you have tips of things to do when we come off the diet or while we are on it, please feel free to share. I know i would love to hear them. But if all you are going to do is insult eachother then we are waisting our time over nothing.
Any diet will fail once you stop it. We are just trying this because so many people lose weight faster than just eating sensibly. Once i have lost enough weight, i will change my diet to a more long term approach. But for now, i just want to hear how others are doing on it.
You say diet and exercise.
We say diet and exercise.
We just have a different diet than you.

I'm not going to say anything for or against this diet. But what I would like to say MLuckyB85 is that the difference between you and us is...
You say diet and exercise.
We say lifestyle change and exercise.

And no, lifestyle change isn't some fancy phrase for saying diet. It means starting the long term approach from day 1.

I might not agree but I do wish you the best of luck in your endeavors:)

disenchanted

its very rare that people make it a lifestyle change. Perhaps a few weeks or months, but how many of us have lost 20 pounds and gained it all right back. I know some of us have. I have went on diets before and lost 10-20 lbs and over the course of a few years gained it back. Life happens, we dont always stick to our plans.

Like i said, i am looking to eat healthier, this is my start.

I know you all want to say its a fad diet, but for those who are on it, frankly, your not going to change our minds. We want to try it for ourselves. And considering you were never on it, we cant really take your advise because you have no experience with it.

I didnt create this thread to defend the diet. I simply would like to hear from people who have had sucess or failure on it.

I'm beginning to think that all people want to do on this site is argue.

Hi there

I have sent you a private message this might solve all your problems.
PM me as well to let me know what you think.

Sam:)

I'm beginning to think that all people want to do on this site is argue.

While arguing is a hobby of mine, it's one of my favorite forms of cardio - I tend to choose the topics I argue on to pretty much the fun ones - like politics and religion...

What people are trying to do here, is guide others from making the same mistakes that they've made over the years in fruitless attempts at fad style diets.

As I've stated elsewhere - quick fix diets do have some merit -for that celebrity who's already in good shape trying to fit into that designer creation for the Silver Whatever Award Purple Carpet walk... Ya know that dress that's so snug - underwear is impossible...

The majority of the people on this site are not looking to lose 5lbs to fit into a dress -the majority of people here aren't looking to lose vanity pounds and it doesn't look like you are either... Diets such as this aren't effective long term for people who are trying to lose more than 15-20lbs... that's well documented...

A year and 10 pounds ago when i bought my size 8 work pants, they were slightly loose so i needed to wear them with a belt. Today on day 6 of the diet i am happy to say, i am wearing that belt on the first notch again. Latley i have had it on the third or fourth, but i probably could have gone smaller than the first notch today.

I'm so excited to weigh myself at the end of the 11 days i feel great and can see the difference!

My boyfriend complains just about every day on this diet. He only wants to lose about 10 pounds and doesnt really care all that much. In my opinion he doesnt need to, he is tall and pretty muscular with a small belly. He has always eaten healthy and exercised 4-5 times a week. (by exercise i mean 4-5 hours of intense basketball and/or a couple hours weight lifting). He doesnt like not being able to have treats and saying no when our friends want to go out 4 ice cream. (ehem last night).
Its just a whole lot easier to have a partner on this diet. He said he will finish off this cycle and see what happens.
Personally, i love the food choices and the way i feel every day. I'm not tempted to cheat and i dont have cravings. I work in a resturant/bakery and things smell good but i feel like i have full control and am content with my packed snacks.
I guess its just that i really want to lose the weight and he doesnt need/want to.

I did mine in October 2007 and am 109 - 111 and 5'5". I have sustained my weight loss. I don't do the diet anymore, just eat very sensibly during the week and give in to some of my cravings for special foods on the weekends. EVERYTHING is done in moderation and you CAN maintain your weight loss after this diet! Best of luck - I know you will be successful!

wow, I agree, this diet really helps me moderate my food intake and disperse my foodthroughout the day. How much weight have you lost on this diet?

i feel so good today

Man that veggie day was hard, but today is my 10th day and i have one more day till break. I must say, i dont really crave anything specific for my cheat days. I am way more excited to see how much i lost. Meanwhile i feel full of energy and im so happy latley.

I'm planning on doing this diet atleast until i go to te keys after mothersday. I am really happy with the way i look and feel, cant wait to go in this beautiful weather and take great pics!

Wish me luck!

Sounds like you are doing well mlucky. Yeah that veggie day is brutal. I didn't like very many of them so I ended up eating green beans and carrots all day, haha. This diet really does eliminate cravings and help you control portions. I would be eating something and notice "Wow I am eating way too much" and stop eating. I always look at the nutrition facts now and I never used to.

I started my second circuit yesterday. Even after 4 cheat days (instead of the normal 3) I did not gain anything. This morning I am down to 239, and I started my first circuit at 253.

All I can say is wow, this diet was worth the money.

Mlucky....i'm glad your doing so well on the diet...but w/ the regular updates your doing, you might want to think about starting a diary instead??

Weigh in!

Wow Jared, 14lbs in one cycle and no gain? thats amazing. What did you do on your cheat days?

I just weighed in and the results are:
starting end of cycle
153.2 - 147.8 Me
220.2 - 214.8 Boyfriend

So we both lost 5.4 pounds. Its funny because we were both on the same diet menu but he did way more exercise. I'm off to the store to make him a proper breakfast, hope we dont overdo the cheat days.

I'm excited to generate a new menu, this diet is the greatest and your right, well worth the money!

I don't know how fit you and your boyfriend are, but I may have a higher metabolism because I have a lot of muscle mass due to 2 1/2 years of weightlifting. That may explain my higher weight loss.

On my cheat days I ate pretty well for breakfast (usually oatmeal). Then for dinner I would have something bad. One day I had brats, another day I had pizza. Basically I ate pretty well all day except for dinner which I ate some of my favorite foods. I also had a few sodas during those days and chocolate as well. So you can eat pretty bad and not worry about gaining. If you don't have a high metabolism I would still recommend going on a walk during those days.

We are in pretty decent shape, just stay stagnant at our weights. He plays basketball 3-4 times a week and does pretty intense weight lifting on thursdays. We both went yesterday and wow, I'm really sore but it feels good. Hopefully it will help counter my cheat days.
Otherwise i play ultimate frisbe two times a week and waitress which is very physically demanding.
I have just started brisk walking/jogging every day for 50 minutes a few days before i started this diet so about 2 weeks ago.
I think it was my eating patterns that killed me. I'd have a slimfast in the morning and then not eat again till late where i'd eat too much and mostly some kind of meat/fish with carbs. (if i did eat between there it would be junk food most likely) I also drank a lot of gatoraide and those vitamine waters so i believe cutting those out has helped as well. I'm keeping up with 10+ cups of water a day now so everything is looking good :)

Yeah that diet pattern most likely screwed you up. I ate the 4 different meals about 4 hours apart. When I wake up for school I would eat (8:00), then I would pack another meal for lunch (12:00), then I eat after school (4:00), and then my last meal at 7 or 8.
