I don't think there is one of these started already..soooo I'll start it :D

This will be an individual challenge with group support and not a competition to see who can lose the most by the end of the year. All you have to do is post your goal by the end of the year and your weigh in updates monthly. I picked monthly updates because there are always other monthly challenges in which you can update weekly, but if we have enough people who would like to join the challenge, maybe I can run a poll to see how often we should weigh in. Updates will be at the last day of every month, but in November and December we can weigh in weekly to ramp it up :D

my goal weight is 199 (want to get out of the 200 range :D) and I currently weigh 273..so 74lbs by 12/31/2010 :D

even today i was saying 70 lbs but it seems i cant lose that much weight without losing muscle and i would like get more muscular so!! 40 - 50lbs i say. I am officially beginning March 29!

Count me in! I'm fortunate that I don't have a tremendous amount of weight projected to lose, but I want to be at my healthiest by 2011. Like I have post before, it's a lifestyle change that is well over due.

I just wanted to give you a tip someone on the forum gave me in hopes that it will be helpful :D Trusylver has 2% body fat and she advised me that in order to maintain your muscle mass and truly lose fat you should eat 1 gram of protein for every kilogram you weigh.

Wow!!! that means I need to eat 106 grams of protein a day! Any advice for that? I was looking at protein shakes but they have calories, I'd rather get my calories from food. What are some high protein foods light in calories? I am already eating chicken almost daily (lean chicken!) and I usually eat 1 egg a day. What are some other things I can add to my diet?

Lol, sorry, but to eat protein you HAVE to eat calories. Caloires come from:

* Protein contains 4 calories per gram
* Carbohydrates contain 4 calories per gram
* Alcohol contains 7 calories per gram
* Fat contains 9 calories per gram

Some good high protein foods include chicken, fish, extra lean hamburger, cottage cheese, yogurt, milk, beans, tofu, soy milk, eggs, quinoa, and nuts.

Most foods will contain a mix of two or all three macro-nutrients.

Making your own healthy fruit shakes and adding some protein powder isn't the worst way to get your protein though, but maybe try making your own instead of going with the prepackaged kind.
