Encountering animals while jogging

Nah, cows are cool. They give you something to listen too while your running.

I run in the country, and there are cow farms everywhere. Most of the time it isnt wierd but the albino ones come right up to the fence, and stare at you with their red eyes.

If you listen real hard, when there are lots of them you can actually hear understandable words, its like a conversation, kind creepy though.

I have encountered a coyote on my hiking trail ahead of me, and I can honestly say that I was very scared. I know that they are probably more scared of me than I am of them, but all I could think was "what if this is that one time that they attack?" I always carry a baton in my backpack so I held that in my hand (I know, it's silly, but the mountain I hike on borders a really bad part of town and you never know. My husband is a police officer and he had an extra baton.). The coyote ended up running away. I used to live in Colorado, and I encountered skunks one time (thank God they didn't see me!!). My dad has also encountered 2 mountain lions while driving to work one morning (yes, they were on the same road that I've jogged on many times). I don't think my baton would have worked on them!!!

In terms of dangerous animals, I have seen Moose, coyotes, and snakes.

I do have to say, though, that the only animal (or in this case, bird) that has ever made me worried has to be the vultures. They stare down at you with their beady little eyes and all of their heads turn in unison as you pass under them, and you know that they are just waiting for you to trip and fall...it is very disconcerting.

if four legged critters are your concern try looking up "ultrasonic dog chaser" it puts out a 135db ultrasonic scream at whatever you point it at ... i got attacked by a dog this morning and didn't have it with me so on the way home i am going to have a little fun lmao haven't tried it on anything bigger yet but i have a moose hanging around my house although it doesn't bother me i am tempted to try it but i probably won't cuz i kind of like the big guy-i love ALASKA

by the way a guy a couple of weeks ago a guy got charged by a sow grizzly while riding his bike if it hadn't been for his dog he might have made a tasty snack for mama bear ... so be glad that vultures, cows, coyotes or whatever you come across isn't on the top of the food chain like up here:eek:

Carry a water pistol filled with ammonia.
