Emma's Fresh Start :)

Well .... here I go. I am a 21 year old girl and am currently in college going to school for social work. I have lost a few pounds here and there in the past but nothing substantial and nothing that has been kept off ... so I decided that with the new year here, this is the best time! I want to eventually lose about 50 lbs., but my mini goal is to be down to 180 by Valentine's Day =)

My goals for January:
work out 5 days a week
96 oz. water per dat
write down all foods I eat

Tomorrow will start day one!!

My plan of attack is to stay around 1200 - 1500 calories a day, mostly comming from veggies and fruits and chicken. Also, I want to work out everyday and drink ALOT of water!

A little more about me ...

A little more about me ...
ok, well here are some stats:
age- 21
height- 5'10
weight- 199
goal weight- 150

I'm single right now ... my boyfriend and I broke up a few months ago (dated 3 years) and now it's a little complicated because my best friend and I have been hanging out more and more and are basically "seeing" eacohther ... I like him ALOT :) I just have to find out if it's going to go anywhere ... so that's a whole story in itself lol.
This is my second year living alone and I love it ... I'm in my third year of college this year and am going into social work.
In my spare time (not much of this becuase of school!!) I work only about 8 hours a week, study, go out with my friends, watch movies ... shopppppppping!!! ... I enjoy working out, as weird as that is ... but I just have a hard itme getting motivated to actually do it. haha* So time to work on that!
Well ... I'm very excited about this fresh start and about meeting everyone! Everyone seems so wonderful and supportive.

Hey! Welcome to the forum! It is good that you started your diary right away. I had been here for 2 months before I started mine, but I was always doing the challenges. I'll try to check on you often. :)

I totally agree on the working out thing!! I love doing when I get started, but getting started is the problem :) This is a great place to be at to :)

Hey Emma, I'm glad you joined. I'm a student too and I've been in school forever it seems. I'm going for a BA in English. It's tough to be a student and lose weight, but it can definitely be done and your goals sound realistic. Keep us updated on the friend/boyfriend deal--we love gossip around here!

Hey Emma,

You look like your doing great so far, and a great attitude! Water... I used to drink tons of diet pop, pop, juice... I now don't bring any of that to work so I'm not tempted, I do have a diet soda here and there but nothing like before. So when I'm wanting something to drink I just grab my glass and fill up my cup with water, I just have to keep reminding myself... water, water, i've never had a problem drinking water but now I just need to replace all the other crap with it! LOL. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

take care
cheers
michelle

Welcome, Emma!
One of my personal tricks to getting in more water was to buy myself a giant water mug. I bought a "scrapaholic" mug at a scrapbooking store and I just love it (and I never put anything but water in it), so I am more inclined to drink more water!
Good luck!

Totallyscrappy: I just figured out your screen name! lol :) I should of known being a scrapper myself!

Welcome Emma!! :) Yeah my only water tip is to keep a bottle of water with you at all times. When I do that I fin dmyself just drinking it because its there! And keep soda, and othre things out of your shopping list for awhlie so all you have at home to drink IS water. :) At least that works for me and my FH. :)

Thanks everyone!!!
Scrappy - haha* what a good idea!!! I love drinking out of cute mugs or glasses!!!
Thanks fror the advice - looks like I have to get my water bottle some action!!!

I need help. I'm SO disapointed in myself today ... But I'm not gonna do my usual and just say forget it and eat everything in sight - I did fine for foods so far but I literally go in my car, went tanning, and then thought about going to the gym and drove home. Why can't I just get motivated to do it?!! UGHHHHHHHH :(

Keep Movin It

Hi Emma,
Hey you and I have similar builds. I'm 5'11 and started out at 183 pounds. I started working out a year ago and am down to 173 (no dieting, just working out). Fortunately, my work opened a free gym so I work out 5 days a week and I kind of watch what I eat (mon-fri). My problem is the weekends. I love to hang out with my friends and eat (and drink). I work full time and I'm almost finished with my degree in accounting. I also just got engaged so I'm on a mission to get down to 145 (28 pounds to lose) by the end of 2006. I know I can do it and if I can do it so can you. Keep up the good work and keep on posting!

Hey there! Dont let today get you down! Just pick yourself up and keep going! When I used to go tanning.. (last year.. ) I would work out first and then go tanning.. because after you tan with the heat and everything.. Your not gonna feel like working out! So try working out first then going to tan/sleep... lol.. I alway's fell asleep right afterward! I was having the same problem with the water so I used Crystal light and the Propel Fitness water for about two months.. well when I started back on this diet this week.. i noticed I was burnt out on those.. so now I've been drinking regular water!

I had a prob. with drinking water all the time- not that I wouldn't drink it, just seemed like I never had it around. I work at a gym, health food store, and pool hall, and the pool hall and the gym both have coolers fuuuullll of water, so I never forget to drink it there, but I hadta bring a case of bottled water to the health store with me :) Its so much nicer to walk in the break room and see a giant stack of water that you know you hafta drink... doesn't tempt me to go get a pop. Also- does your gym do tanning? Mine does... if it does, that may be a way to get into the gym better :) tan at the gym! (I should tan... I'm a bit pasty :( )

Thanks for all the advice/help grls !!!
I had a CRAZYYYYY weekend ... my work hosted a bridal show and I have had about 7 hours of sleep since friday ... so after work today I plan on SLEEPING as much as I can! haha*
I will get back in gear with posting and exercise today!
Thanks for the support!

Congrats on the bridal shower. How was it?
