I wouldn't joke about Dr. Phil. He was in Nam. Only reason why he decided to become a douchbag was because they told him snapping little kids neck is not a form of therapy.

He bench presses Oprah for fun and while he's at it, he can recite all the Psalms.

I think you have Dr phil confused with Chuck Norris

I like Dr. Phil, but I rarely watch the show any more. I respect his opinions, although I think the show itself is simply another piece in the huge media money making machine just like Oprah. I've seen him speak in person, and that was a lot of fun. I think he has a lot of good things to say, I just wish his show wasn't so commercial.

I cant stand doctor phil. It seems like he talks over people and then uses his audience to back him up. All he has to do is look at the audience and they all clap and yahoo, even if he is wrong.

i personally enjoy dr phil ;)

Of course its commercialised, its a show, big deal. I think the advice that he has given over the years for many people who watch his show to be great, as well as the people who actually go on the show..

I think it is weird that he would do it in front of a bunch of people. One of the main principles of psychology is that what is said stays between the patient and the doc stays between them. This sort of violates that so you can't expect people to be 100% honest. I've got a lot of psychology friends who say doing something like that just shows you are not serious about the profession.

Didn't this happen a long time ago?

I like Dr. Phil. I don't agree with him 100% of the time, but I don't agree with anyone 100% of the time. He usually makes a lot of sense. I catch the show maybe twice a week. I actually DVR them all and if one catches my eye I watch it.

I'd agree with you Karky if the patients did it in private, then Dr. Phil pulled out stuff from the private interview to show the public. The thing is, people agree to go on the show. Common sense should take over in that personal questions will be asked, and most likely, people will confront you about your opinion in mob mentality.

The sad thing about the world is that *most* people respect the opinions of the mob rather than the opinion of one self. I think this is a major fault not only in modern times, but in all times future and past.

Shows such as Dr. Phil and Oprah survive on ratings whether or not it is correct. I love how it's worded in Chris Farley's biography: "If the show sucks and the ratings good, the network will continue to air it. However if the show sucks and the ratings sucks, then the network will pull the show."

I used to be addicted to Oprah and Dr. Phil, I liked Oprah because I thought it did a good job of informing me about the latest social phenomena, but then I realized that it only grazes the surface. Most of the show is a ploy to get you to buy something. I would rather buy a good book and learn from that now.

I'm not saying it is unethical. I'm saying you can't expect the folks to be 100% honest with the world watching. Thus the therapy isn't going to be all that good.

Me Too!!

I HATE....did I say HATE?, I meant despise, detest, loathe, abhor, and find him revolting, nauseating, offensive, repugnant, repulsive, sickening, ugly, vile, and foul....feel free to add your own feelings.....

and I think the man is a complete A**hole and hasn't a clue.

Can we make babies?

I sort of like the guy. I mean he helps people and families. That's quite good for me. I suppose his method is questionable, but I think Dr. Phil understands this is a new generation where outward emotion is accepted and perhaps he's trying to tap into that. 20 years ago, if you had a mental problem or worry, you're told basically to "take it like a man" and is pretty much ignored. Now, you pretty much see it everywhere in shows like Real World, and other crazy stuff. I think Dr. Phil knows that this is a new generation where therapy occurs usually when one discuss emotional things outwardly in public settings.

Well when someones first suggestion to a family with kids who have special needs is to INSTITUTIONALIZE them, ....Yeah, I got a big problem with the d!ckhead. He doesn't understand anything, it's a bunch of crap, that sadly you have bought into.......
