Weight-Loss Don't eat after 4:00PM????

Weight-Loss
the problem with my eating habits, is that i sit at a desk all day at work, and get the nibbles, that when i eat all the chocolate bars and chips....mainly out of boredom...

I would have to eat after 4pm cause i work don't get home till 6...but i will try and start eating less than usual...

most of time i eat its the wrong foods...

I am not saying this again in this thread. It really does not matter when you eat. It is HOW MUCH you eat. If people refuse to listen to this logic, then so be it.

::gives steve a cookie:: :)

When I told my pt that i wasn't eating after 6 he suggested that I eat a snack around 9 because apparently when you dont eat for such a large gap of time (6 pm-morning) your body will store all of the food as fat rather than dividing it up into fat and nutrients.

I have no idea how this works, or if it is even true, just thought I'd throw it out there.

No, your pt does not know what he/she is talking about. You don't store any tissue unless you are in a caloric surplus.

The main reason to eat a bunch of small meals is to keep yourself from over-indulging at any one of them. Everything else is a side benefit.

By the way, it's your small intestine that processes all the food you eat, not your body in general. And no matter what, that food will be divided up into proteins, carbs, vitamins, minerals, and yes, fat. That's why people who get bypass surgery have to have vitamins regularly -- their small intestine can no longer do its job.

i find it difficult to eat 5 small meals a day

so i just stick to the three main ones and maybe have some fruit or a couple of crackers as snacks...

i already know that, but did you ever think, that once you start eating junk food again you crave it....then you put the weigh back on that you lost from being good??

Well considering the fact that I was speaking of the science of thermodynamics and NOT personal opinion or circumstance, NO, the thought never crossed my mind.

You know Keengirl, the funny thing about your problem with me which you made so publicly obvious in the other thread regarding fruit is this:

I get at least 5 PMs each day with people thanking me. Am I bragging? Absolutely not. Do I feel good about receiving those PMs? Certainly.

I state this only to show how funny it is that you have such a problem with how I present myself on this forum. Oddly, I could really give 2 craps how you feel about me considering I am not here to make friends. I am here to help those who are logical thinkers and actually want to progress.

i'm lost. what does your reply to Steve have to do with what Steve said?? Junk food is not considered food and i'm surprised you even brought it up. Find something better to snack on ... junk food is just being lazy, not bored.

as steve said, the only time this happens is if your body goes into starvation-mode ... which is when you aren't eating enough during the whole day.

It doesn't really matter what time you stop eating.

Only advice I do have is that you don't eat any carbs/fats a couple of hours before bedtime, protein (especially from a source like cottage cheese) is fine :)

If I stop eating by 4pm and yet go to bed at around 3-4am everday, I'd get sick after just a couple of days!! hahahahahaha..

I eat chocolates (not candy bars, REAL chocolates!), fruits, wafers, crackers, whatever I feel like eating, between 10pm-midnight regularly, and never gaining weight for the past 6 years.. On the whole though, my daily calorie intake is not much. Listen to Steve!

this truly work. last time i lost 12lbs in 3 months and i felt great. it was only really hard for the first week and then you will get used to it. once you lose the weight you want then to maintain it you just have to not eat after 4pm 3-4 times a week.

oh and i forgot to mention that i ate as much and anything I wanted till 4 pm. but after 4 you cant have anything but water
