Does green tea help?

Is Green Tea not a "Natural Diuretic" which in turn helps flush the body of toxins and fluids
Nope.

Hey guys!

I heard [product] will do [remarkable, unbelievable process] at [some website]. I'm also heavy because I'm just really unlucky. I hope the dice start landing right so I can drop some ell-bees.

Weight loss is the result of minding calories and physical activity. Unless green tea is found to have some anti-matter that only annihilates calories from french fries, soda and twinkies, I'm going to worry less about drinking it to lose weight and get myself on the treadmill!

Personally, even if green tea did 'work' it would never help me lose weight because I put sugar in tea. Lots, and lots, and lots of sugar.

well... I simply enjoy green tea PERIOD. I really like the green tea with blueberry... its yummm and still has no calories.

it is good for me because i can drink it with just a splenda packet and no cream or sugar in it because its a weaker tea... where as my alternative would be COFFEE with FLAVORED CREAM and splenda hehe

whether you think it helps you lose that fat or not, i think it's a good thing that we can replace our soda intake with something better.

we just need to make sure we don't largely depend on the glorified green tea for weight loss.

i drink green tea :)

but i exercise and eat healthy foods with it

i don't think the tea itself will make you lose weight

but since it has antioxidants, i think it helps though :)

I absolutely Love green tea! The amounts that I drink it, you would think that I would be green already! ;)

No, but honestly...it's FABULOUS for energy and fat melting! :) thumbs up!

It may aid in weight loss by slightly increasing the metabolism temporarily. To say green tea will help me burn fat is not an accurate way of putting it.

This thread is interesting. I think green tea is a good and healthy alternative to softdrinks and other drinks that are rich in sugar. However, I also think that it should be taken in moderation. There are lots of benefits on green tea but these benefits won't help us if we lack discipline and control on what we eat. So I think it all boils down to self discipline and self control. If you want to lose weight then you must work on it.

Green tea will help with weight loss but by how much is questionable. IT is loaded with antioxidants and provides a ton of health benefits so drink it if you can!

I guess it depends on how your body reacts to it. But I know a person who drinks green tea but I don't think she has lost some weight. Bottom line is that, if one really needs to lose weight, he/she must practice eating in moderation meaning counting calorie intake, measure portions, know one's nutritional needs, plan healthy meals and exercise. Losing weight is a commitment and a long journey so drinking or taking something which claims to help in losing weight is I guess gimmick.

Green tea's EGCG can help with insulin sensitivity, meaning you break down glucose and other sugars more effectively. That does not mean you should start taking green tea pills. Why not just substitute a glass of green tea with your breakfast instead of coffee?

Not to get on my soapbox, but here's why I don;t suggest supplement form. We tend to think of magic pills as just that, something that will fix everything without having to put in any effort. Such as "I'm taking my green tea pills, so I can eat pizza for lunch and dinner." The reverse of that would be "I take green tea extract pills and have lost a lot of weight. It must be the magic pills", not giving credit to the hours you spend on the treadmill.

Dedicated to your weight loss success,
Matt

P.S. I can't post links, but there is a wealth of peer-reviewed research on green tea and insulin sensitivity, which has a great deal to do with losing weight.

Hi There,

Green tea is an amazing way to begin the weight loss process my friend. But ofcourse there is more much more that is mandatory before you can achieve and become your best.

Start and write down your 10 Why's- Why are you really getting started?

This is so cardinal because most people start with surface reasons like a vacationin 30 days :)

Start with your why and tell me how it goes.

Wes

Yes, it help!

Certain antioxidants found in green tea seem to have a "small positive effect" on weight loss and weight maintenance, according to a report published in the International Journal of Obesity in 2009. In their analysis of 11 studies on green tea and weight loss or weight maintenance, researchers found that green tea antioxidants known as catechins may help increase metabolism.

I personally see no difference when drinking green tea and taking the pills. The biggest change came from what I ate. A few friends say green tea works but that's after a month of exercising and healthy eating. Coincidence?

Well known for its countless health benefits such weight loss and curing cancer, green tea is a miracle.

What a load of crap, green tea may have health benefits but a cure for cancer it is not !! I am sure all those cancer patients out there would love for green tea to be some kind of miracle cure it would allow all those scientists to move on to other research now that you have solved the cancer problem.

Green tea a cure for cancer?
These forums can be amusing lol. I better tell my aunt that does stem cell research at the university I attend to stop using stem cells and start giving the mice Lipton Green Tea XD

ANYWAY, I go through 1 1/2 - 2 gallons of Green Tea a day (sugar free of course) While I can comment it suppresses my appetite, I can't say for sure if it's the green tea itself or if it's merely all the weight and the volume of the liquid filling me up.

In my opinion, green tea is a great addition to one's diet, especially if used as a replacement for sugary drinks. However it is by no means a miracle plant that will magically make your weight disappear. If it was, I'd be below 200 lb's by now since I've been drinking nearly 2 gallons a day since December.
