Does anyone think they could budget their food shopping to £10 a week

hey there, i was just wondering if anyone thinks they could budget their food shopping to £10 a week or less, this is just the food for themselves - no one else (like family, etc).

If so list food n prices, or show me a reciept. This is just plain curiousity.
My dad probaly spends about £50 a week on shopping for 3 of us, so i reckon my weekly shopping bill is £50/3 =£16.666

Wow. That is like $20 per week. I don't think I can make it through a day and a half for less than $20.

I am sure if that is all the money you had then you would be able to do it through lack of options. Most people would have to be at that point to spend that little.

If your dad is currently spending about $33 per week that is still a pretty small budget.

My wife and I spend about $150 at the grocery store each week. That does not count going out a few times together or with friends. (those are about $20 per person per meal) If we have drinks it will be closer to $40.

I would say on a lite week we spend over $200 for the pair of us. We have been over $400 at times if we go out a lot.

Er, my fruits and veggies ALONE wouldn't cover 10 bucks...

I guess you could live off Ramen Noodles if you don't want to spend over 10 dollars...

£10? LMAO, oh dear, I spend over £6 a day in Tesco on food to eat while at work, with other meals included it'd come to well over £10 a day.

Are your family all very small and thin?

no way. I don't have alot of money right now, but I use way more than that. But I also eat more than the average person I believe.

£10 a week? Absolutely no chance whatsoever! I spend double that on chicken breasts alone! What about supplements, would they be included in this budget?

I would find it quite hard to work out as I don't do a 'weekly shop' as such, I just buy the stuff I need as and when I need it. I actually have no clue how much I spend on food.....maybe I should try and work it out!

Maybe if I ate less I would be:)

For me, my wife (only weighs about 130 and eats maybe 1600-1800 cal/day) and my kids (3 yrs and 1 1/2) We spend WELL over $100 per week. I have to eat a lot and we never eat out ...OK, I've eaten out once in the last 6 months. I'm 194 today and cutting at 3700 calories/day (I can stabilize my weight at 4200)...you should have seen me eat when I was 227 LOL

I guess I also need to factor in that I feed our two dogs and their food is bought at Costco with ours (we go to Costco and the regular grocery)

My step-father was from Aldershot, so I have a certain affection for everything British. He married my mom when I was an adult, but I still consider him my step-father because he was that special of a person.

I'm not completely sure how much we spend on food. I highly doubt we could do it for $20 a week for each of us. I would lose so much weight (not a good thing for me). Let me think, I make about $40 a week, (I know, pathetic, but I only work an hour a week ;)) so I guess I am capable of surviving on my own without starving.

I do think we could do a better job of budgeting and not wasting food. My mom and I were joking about the "buy one get one free" sales at the store. For us, it's generally, "buy one, pitch one in the can". We can't eat the second thing fast enough and it ends up going bad before we can eat it.

We also spend a lot on feeding the cat. And get this, he won't eat cat food, he never has. Every time we tried to feed it to him he gave us this look like we were trying to poison him. We feed him lean ground turkey. I eat a lot of ground turkey too, and my mom always jokes about me eating cat food.

So, between us and the cat, we definitely spend more than $20 a week on food.
